Is my lipo dead?
I have a 5000mah 30C 3S LiPo that I have had for a while sitting in my cupboard. About 4 months. I didnt charge it once from factory so it just stayed in storage mode the whole time. I had 3 others sitting with it (same batteries) which are all perfectly fine but this one isnt. The cells will not balance properly. They are charging but 2 of the cells will not balance out to 4.20V. Is the battery dead? Should I discharge? I want to try to revive if I can.

Blur speedo dead?
My savage blur speedo has died. It didnt catch flames or melt. I am using 5000mah 30C 3S. It just stopped working after a 3min run, batteries were fresh and so was the esc. Could the switch be broken? All the cables were connected correctly. There is no burning smell or signs of melting. The capacitors are still discharging when i connect the batteries.

RE: Savage Flux dead after 20mins Will they repair?
Its for running 6S, The 20T was much faster for me. Sure you havent got them mixed around? Says in the manual if running 6S you should use the 25T pinion other wise no warranty is covered.

Savage Flux dead after 20mins Will they repair?
I just dropped $800 aud on a brand new flux. I came home and soldered on all my new connectors to my batteries and charged them (brand new batts) plugged them in and went for a spin, was going great decided to gear down to the 25 pinion and go to the park, at the park for about 3mins when it stopped moving, gave it some more throttle and it went again but then stopped 1 second later. No lights on the ESC and nothing when i turn it off. I have disconnected the esc from the motor and the rx. No smoke or burning smells. Running on 5000mah 30C 3S obviously in series. The only thing that is pissing me off the most is that before it stopped working the esc cracked probably from a small flip, it worked absolutely fine after that so I know its nothing to do with that. Will they still repair it for free?

RE: Out with Nirto In with Electric?
I just changed to the electric side ( don't kill me!) I still have a picco savage though! Between the two and all my experience so far I would say electric. The ease of sliding in 2x 3s packs connecting them and you are good to go for a sweet 40 or so mins. No runnin, pipes, plugs, starters, hump packs, throttle linkage, clutches, shoes and fuel. It's much more expensive but damn worth it in the end especially if you live in a quiet neigbourhood. The flux is just the savage x but electric. You will hve a blast. Much more then you have ever had on your previous savage. Especially on 6s. Just a blast.... I say sell, save and get some zippy lipos (they are excellent) a decent charger/balancer and go for it. You will never look back. Unless you love that nitro burning greasyness! I still love my nitro though!

RE: new lipo went BOOM!*pics*
I have 10 zippys. Not one problem. I bet there was a user error but maybe a QC issue. They don't just explode, there has to be something internally or it was damaged. Did it catch fire or explode? Bang or smoke then fire?

RE: hpi SAVAGE FLUX ESC CATCHES FIRE out of box
As a lot of people know the same esc and motor combo is being used in the E-revo brushless. There is some smoke ups on there aswell. You need to have something like a good 150amps to be safe. I say its all CC's fault. A lot of people are biased and say that the problem is Zippy batteries but to see a fresh flux straight from the box catch on fire with the cc's recommended maxcramps then obviously this is 100% a QC issue. Also, castle now ask what batteries you are using. They will apparently not warrant anyone using Zippy. To me, this is really unsafe. These catch on fire and can cause some serious burns if you are plugging in your batteries and happen to WOT, if your hand was near the esc you could get burnt. Its stupid, there are lawsuits waiting to happen, plus CC isnt doing anything about it other then blame crap quality LiPos (zippy are NOT crap), and do some warranty claims. If GM produced a car that 1 in 1000 burst into flames because you used a not recommended fuel then there would be a whole siege of court cases. Thats my 2c. Even though all the HPI claims are handle through HPI there is still CC in the mix, they need to go back and produce a V4. I am going to purchase a ERBE and if it catches alight I will be getting the warranty replacement and then swapping it out for Tekin RX8..

Yep. Budbud is definitely right (as usual). The ball looks like it will pop out easily when turning and running. I am running a picco aswell and I can see that happening for sure. Going to play it safe and wait for stock of the XL cups and bones.

Thanks Budbud, big help! I will give them a try. LHS in australia really suck and over charge on everything so I always buy from the states and wait a week or so for postage. Just want to run this weekend. I am not using XL outdrives though I am using the XL wider cups.

RE: X dogbones with XL cups?
Why doesn't it work? They seem to slip together perfectly. The bone doesnt sit out, I realise that but they should hold up for a little while. Its not perfect but it will definitely will work. The only play is that the ball is 2mm smaller, once some o-rings/fuel line is behind the balls they should be ok. I will just run them until they give way.

RE: 17mm savage xl hexes.
I am running big joes on the oversized beadlocks and mine are slipping every run. 2nd of all. The beadlock ring will cut into you lower arms after a few jumps. 3rd, its a pain to replace tyres on the beadlocks.. I am ridding of my axial beadlocks, they are not all that durable. I am going with the cheaper proline cheyenne 23mm hex wheels. I say go the old method as after a few runs you will have them slip and then you will fix them, they'll slip again and again and you will strip the screws that hold the ring down. Lots of dirt will pour into your tyres aswell. But that is my 2c.

RE: 4s in e revo?
I am running 2S 2200mah 20c in parallel and getting 40min+ hard bashing. Its fast on 2S, 40mph or so. I am going to pick up 2 3S for a bit of fun as they are so cheap. You can run 2 2S (4s) in series but you will not be able to run the ESC in lipo mode (low voltage cutoff on) as it will detect an over voltage. You will have to set it to nimh mode and make sure you do not run for more then 10 mins as you can damage your lipos if you discharge them too much, you can also damage your ESC aswell. The ESC doesnt support 4S but it will take it. Running in 4S with the stock pinion will get you to thermal shutdown in about 15mins speeds are about 60mph though. For bashing I would definitely be running 2S in parallel as it is more then enough speed. 3S will probably get you to thermal shutdown before you get to LVC if you are bashing hard. 4S is for speed runs only
ORIGINAL: flipside7 Once parts come out for it, stock it's like most of the others, 2cell your ok, unless you gear it too low, 3cell forget it. Hopefully someone is working on a steel gear diff, but ball diffs are sure to come
What? The diffs are metal and hold up exceptionally well, I have not seen one diff ripped apart yet. The diffs are absolutely fine on 2S, 3S and 4S.

Suspension setup/Shocks
Well, I have been running the LST Shock conversion for a while and they have worn out, the rods keep bending but these were some cheap knockoffs from the bay. Now I need a new set, running them in my savage which I heavily bash. What is better? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=200349847251 vs. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=220430402370 I realise the first ones are Integy but I am sure they would be ok. I have heard bad things about Integy shocks before but I may give it a gamble. Never really heard anything about the HPI big bores, are they any good?

1/16 E-Revo thermal shutdown on 3S
Is anyone getting this? I just canceled my 3S order and changed it to 2S. I have been reading up that a lot of people are hitting thermal shutdown before they can run there batteries to LVC and is only happening on 3S. Is anyone else getting this?

RE: anyone ran two 3S LiPo's on their e revo?
Dont run 3S! They will over heat you esc and cause you to go to thermal shutdown. Heaps of people are going to 2S as the 3S last for 15 or so mins before thermal shutdown occurs. I myself have cancled my 3S order and picked up 2S instead. 3S is good for speed passes but for general bashing you won't get far before you smoke the esc. Cut a hole in the body window to let some air in, helps heaps.
