RE: Great Planes Yak 54 with OS 160
I have not flown the great planes yak but did have a QQ yak 72 with an OS 1.60 and loved the combo. Along as you do not let the weight get above 12.5 pounds I would say the 1.60 should power the plane well. I do really regret selling the QQ yak/1.60 fx as it was a fine plane.

I had one of these with an OS 1.60fx and it was a good flying plane. With a satio 180 just try to keep it as light as possible and run 30% heli.

RE: Rustler 2.5 handling
Put limiters in the front suspension to limit the amount of rear weight transfer. Usually about .090 is enough. This will not allow as much weigh transfer to the rear under acceleration.

So, when you gas it are the dogbones spinning and the tires setting still. The dogbone usually goes from outdrive of the tranny to the axle the wheel hub keys into. Make sure the wheel hub is properly keyed into the axle and that the wheel hubs are not stripped.

RE: Losi 8ight Question
NO IT WILL NOT FIT!!! The Mach 427 will not fit in the roller even with RTR motor mounts. The RTR chassis is needed. It has a cutaway for the backplate. Just break down and get a bump box and a good non pullstart motor. That is what the roller is designed for. You will be glad you did in the end.

RE: The 8ight is ready for battle!
On the throttle servo issue use the grommets that came with the car on the throttle servo and use a good coreless digtal servo with at least 120 ounces of torque. Check to make sure the spring on the throttle linkage is not fully collapising when you give full brakes and shorten the ball link if needed to correct. I also would get rid of the overly large return spring too.

RE: Axe Rossi Mamba .21 Break-in
I was using the correct plug for the engine. The Rossi #6 is what comes with the engine and what the importer SG models recommended for it. I hope the wrist pin failure I experienced was a fluke because I am planning on rebuilding it to evo specs.

RE: Axe Rossi Mamba .21 Break-in
I had the Mamba running great until it ate the wrist pin. It would idle forever too. I was not unhappy with it until it ate the wrist pin. I was using Rossi #6 plugs, JP3 pipe, and 30% fuel when I was running it. It had good performance but lacked alittle on the top. Now the V-Spec is off the hook on power and runtime[:D].

RE: Axe Rossi Mamba .21 Break-in
I needed to lean my Mamba's high speed needle quite abit to get it to stay running at first. It was set way too rich from the factory for breakin. I really liked my mamba till it ate a wrist pin clip around the 3 gallon mark. It is setting around waiting for a new piston, sleeve, and rod right now. I have since switched to a OS V-Spec and really like it. Better parts fit and more power all around than the mamba. My sleeve on my mamba was in so tight that it was almost impossible to remove. Axe needs to get there tolerances better to where the sleeve is a slip fit into the crankcase and not cold welded in like mine. All I can say is good luck and make sure to replace the rod after breakin.

RE: When will we see the Losi 8ight???
You will also have to convert the Mach 427 to a non-pullstart to make it fit with the lower motor mounts. Otherwise the motor will not fit on the chassis. Horizon now offers a non-pullstart backplate to replace the original one.
You need to look harder there is alot of adjustability in this buggy. The front shock tower has 3 positions alone and I bet the rear has just as much or more. I use carbon fiber landing gear on my rc planes and I can tell you 4MM is strong! If you hit hard enough to break a shock tower you would of severely bent an aluminum tower!!! Also, most people I know do not bend there towers back they just get a new one.

RE: When will we see the Losi 8ight???
ORIGINAL: ixsna Hey sport ten how long have you had your rtr. Do you run it in alabama where it is alot cooler out. Big temperature diff down here in central florida that might be the most of the throttle servo problems.
I live in Southern Alabama about 20 minutes from the Gulf Coast. Heat from outside sources does not seem to be the problem. If your throttle servo is heating up it is binding somewhere. I find that the large throttle return spring that comes on the 8ight is hard on servos and should be removed. It keeps tension on the throttle all the time even at idle. This builds up heat in the servo and leads to failure. Also, it is always a good idea to run the grommets that come with the servo. They isolate the servo from vibration and help extend servo life.

RE: When will we see the Losi 8ight???
The throttle servos going out prematurely is not limited only to the RTR. You will have problems with the kit or the RTR if you do not correctly setup the throttle servo. I run the RTR and do not find any of the problems mentioned earlier with the motor or the throttle servo. I have run over 2 gallons of fuel through mine and I am still on the same throttle servo!!! There is little difference in the RTR vs the Kit. The chassis is the same size and dimensions just it is not annodized and lightened as much. Most of the parts like the hubs and hingepin braces are the same just not hard annodized. The Kit shocktowers are a good improvement to the RTR. The aluminum shock caps are also a good upgrade for durability. Check this forum for a how-to on setting up the throttle servo correctly: http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthread.php?t=130112&page=43&pp=30 Also, get rid of the oversized throttle return spring and use the rubber grommets that came with the servo on the throttle.

You will like this motor. If you want even longer life with it you can use the infinity brushes instead of the included Atlas brushes. This motor is a torque monster so do not be afraid to gear it up some. Just watch your motor temps.

The ones you picked will all have about the same life. The KD 19T is the most powerful. I recommended the others because they meet your critera and will last much longer than the ones you picked. Worth the extra money and the long run IMO.

RE: Which 19t team brood motor will last the longest without maintnence and be the most reliable?
The Element V2 19T is the longest lasting of the bunch by a long shot. 30-40 runs before needing a cut with the enduro brushes. I would get one from tower hobbies unless you are a serious competitor in the 19T class. The guy that is telling you the Cobalt is the longest lasting is selling you! The others listed will need brushes replaced and the comm cut about every 6 runs. The Team Checkpoint 19T money motor is another good performing, long lasting motor

Try running the ESC setup. Make sure the rates are turned up all the way on your transmitter for throttle and brake before doing this. Also, have the polarity correct on the motor. Reversing it is not the answer.

First look for a tag on the armature. Most arms are tagged with the number of turns.

RE: SMC 4200MAH NIMH HELP!
You can charge NiMh up to 1.5 amps without a problem. It is best to do a soft cycle for the new cells (charge 10 minutes and the fully discharge them). After the soft cycle equalize them on a tray give them a full charge at 5-6 amps. Charging at 6 amps will give the pack more punch. Charging at 5 amps will give the pack longer life but less punch. Set the chargers delta-V to kick off before 125-130 degrees temp on the two center cells. This is what Pro-Match recommends for the 4200 cells and works well.

When your savage can beat this I will say nitro is faster than electric! http://deathblossom.blogspot.com/2006/08/worlds-fastest-rc-car-160-mph_04.html Electric motors will always have more power potential due to the effiency being quite abit higher. Some brushless motors approach 90% where the best any internal combustion motor could ever achieve is somewhere around 45%.

RE: Losi XXX-S JUNK
Thinking about your problem with no forward speed. I would check the speed control. Maybe redo the one touch setup for the controller. It is possible that if only a part throttle input was not given instead of full throttle during setup that the ESC limited the throttle. It is worth checking.

I went to the 9x3.8 APC because the motor was starting to get pretty warm and the instructions recommend stepping down one inch in prop size for 3S with this engine. Power is not a problem with 3S Lipo. It rockets out of a hover. I might give a 9x4.7 a try when I get a chance because it closer to the 9x5 that is recommended for this engine by the instructions.

RE: jato better off road or on road
The Jato was designed for the offroad so this question is easily answered. In stock form it is illegal for racing because of the two speed tranny but traxxis offers a single speed conversion for it. This will give the truck more accelleration out of the corners too. If it bounces uncontrollable offroad then increase the dampening by either switching to thicker shock oil or a smaller hole piston. The stock .15 will probably be alright at club races but you will need a good .12 like the OS .12 CV-R for anything else. The .12 will make the car easier to drive around the course due to having less power. Remember it is not who is fastest in a straight line but around the course. Having too much engine can make the car hard to control. Good Luck.
