RE: Motor Can
Without drilling and tapping for a larger screw, you might be able to wrap a screw with Teflon tape and get a tight enough fit that it would hold.

RE: Newby driveshaft question
The shaft should be a tight enough fit in the stuffing tube so that all you need is some grease to keep water out.

RE: any info on the wild thing?
You probably mean a Wildcat from Great Planes. Two 550 motors and solid shafts running on 12 cells with a manual speed control. Not a bad boat-I have one but it's not as fast as it should be.With better props and a EVX speed control mine runs decently but no race winner! A fun boat if you can get it at a good price.[8D]

RE: ESC Overheating
Without knowing the motor and ESC specs it's hard to answer your questions.I feel it's better to run lower KV motor on higher cell count than the other way around. The ESC looks like a Chinese aircraft ESC that someone adapted a homemade water cooling plate on.If it's still working, try a 2S pack-won't be as fast but you won't cook it either!Check to see if you get good water flow through the plumbing.

RE: ESC Overheating
What amp draw is the motor and what is ESC rated for? The plumbing looks homemade and overly complicated-did you see water coming out the exit tube? The X430 is a good prop for the Predator but maybe motor KV too high for 3S.

RE: A hull for two Esky 180 motors?
The 4 in 1 will fry the first time you try to push a boat with it and 180 motors don't last long with the tiny brushes they use in them. That being said,it would have to be a very small light weight boat and you would have a hard time finding a tiny prop for it.If you are going to put in the effort to build a boat, get at least a 500 size motor and a decent speed control so you could have a big enough boat to handle a few waves without getting swamped.[8D]

RE: Prop question.
I don't know what size it was,but a guy on another forum built a small foam hull using a similar motor with a 6x4 puller prop on 3s lipo and the boat was a screamer!

RE: Kyosho Jet Stream 800
If you still have the stock prop try it and see what speed you get and how hot the motors get.The Titans have more torque so you may be able to go with a slightly larger prop. With a dual motor and gear reduction you might be able to go as big as a 50mm prop like some of the Robbe and Graupner boats used to use[hydroplane and systems cat].

RE: Kyosho Jet Stream 800
The EVX and Titans should work fine-EVX has thermal shutdown if things get too hot.The EVX2 should also be waterproof like the one I use.I agree with using Deans connectors-I use them on all my models.Just make sure gear mesh is correct and grease the shaft so there is no binding.

RE: Need help?
The motor has a 1/8" shaft and I believe the coupler is 3mm so it is not a good fit-you could maybe drill it out but I would look for a 1/8" coupler.

RE: RC Battleship
Well,it is RTR and looks impressive but runs on 540 size motors. Those are car size motors-I would want bigger motors with more torque and larger props.

RE: Rigger questions....help
If you have scaled down to a 15" tub a 540 size motor may be a tight fit.

RE: ESC related
Most brushless ESC"s should be programmable but there are brushed motor ESC"s that are just "dumb" meaning they just sense throttle position and no way to program them.

The tub on my stock Predator is 21 and 3/4" -that is 100% size of the pdf.

RE: Rigger Plans?
The Predator pdf can be printed using your PC printer-zoom to 100% and print in sections using current view in Adobe. The larger parts will have to be pieced together but it works.

RE: Rigger questions....help
I think rear sponsons help reduce drag and lift the rear up which may help the smaller boats go faster but I have seen even small riggers without rear sponsons. The predator has flat bottom sponsons but the sides are angled-mine balances about 30% from the rear but all boats are different.

RE: Installing a Drive Tube
I usually cut a slot in the hull long enough to accomodate the angle of the shaft and cut the keel slot as well.Test fit the shaft then use doublers on the keel for strength.Tape the hole as best you can on the outside of hull then use epoxy to seal the slot and glue the tube in place.

RE: Want to build my first boat...
If you register {free} at rcpowerboat forum they have downloadable plans for some nice small boats.I built the Predator and classic Roundnose shovel but used balsa and 1/32 ply.I guess you could use card stock as long as the framework is sturdy. Some plans have step by step instructions. The pdf plans can be enlarged to 100% and printed using current view in Adobe but you have to do it in sections and piece it together.Another option is Kinko's-have them print full size plans from the pdf.

Like Rebuilder said,it's normal for the batt to get pretty warm but not hot.Best to use a peak charger if you can get one.

RE: Twin 700's with EVX2?
I don't know what pitch it is but it's a Graupner prop on a 4mm flex shaft powered by a Kershaw 700 Revolver motor.I was advised by a knowledgeable person that a bigger prop without gear reduction would draw too many amps.If things get hot that's a sign that something is pulling too much amperage-binding,too much prop,or batt that can't handle the amp draw. The Villain EX props are meant for gear reduction which reduces amp draw considerably-direct drive increases the strain on the motor and usually means a smaller prop at higher RPMs.If you want to run bigger props you may have to reduce run time to avoid problems.Sometimes you have to choose between speed and run time when you push things to the limit. I have an EVX in my Wildcat but it is only running 2 550 motors with 32mm props on 12 cells.I would try smaller props-another ESC or more batts are just going too add weight.

RE: Rudder and Propeller Help!!!
If he is going to use a 19 turn car motor on 6 cells then I would not use bigger than 32 mm prop or amp draw will be high. Now if you want to overvolt motor and have a good ESC and batts that can handle the amp draw then try a bigger prop by all means!

RE: Rudder and Propeller Help!!!

RE: Twin 700's with EVX2?
I use a Graupner 42mm prop on my 700 direct drive setup but also have a Jeti Navy 60 amp ESC running on 12 cells and this seems to be a reliable setup.I don't think it even pulls 30 amps but I never measured it.

RE: Twin 700's with EVX2?
If you are running Villain EX props direct drive then the props are too big-they are meant for gear reduction outdrive.
