RE: Expresscraft Thunderbolt
Good, I think my build thread on Jims is a bit more up to date. I sharpened and balanced my prop as good as I could get it and set up my radio box. Pretty much everything is done I just have to do the final linkage adjustments. I can't run the boat untill the pushrod seal mounts and seals from Redline come in. They shipped out today. I will keep you updated better thanks

RE: prop balancer
I just bought this one and balanced my first prop on it and it worked great. One of the less expensive ones out there so you can prolly find better quality but it did the job for me. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHY61&P=ML Good luck

RE: Expresscraft Thunderbolt
Thank Bmad, First, my engine is as far forward as I could get it. The spark plug is right in behind the scoop opening like it should be... As for the pipe, I don't know what you mean by it is to long. If its a performance issue I am not going to deal with it yet. Getting the boat running is number one. I can work on increasing performance later. Even if I did need to shorten it all I could do is cut off the stinger? If you are saying moving it back on the header and have an extension on the end I could do that I guess. The transon problem can easily be fixed by adjusting the strut since the angle can be changed. The rudder also has a little give way in it.. Plenty of people run without the metal or wooden blocks to correct the angle of the transom so I think I will just adjust the strut to make it 90 degrees with the sponsons. Thanks mart, yea I had to cut up a few holes in the cowling for the pipe clearance. The inside of my cowl will be nice n cool! Here are some pics of my latest progress. Everything is self explainatory except for the 2nd set of pictures of the butch block and collet. The second set is the correct set as you can see the cable was not aligned very well with the collet. I had to redo the butch block to fix this. Thanks for the help everyone

Just give Seaducer a call or email. No one knows the boat better than the maker.

I think cats run best on small chop. Sorry you got talked out of the expresscraft. Did you like the AC or Insane boats? They have a heck of a reputation it seems to me.

Thanks Sheograth. Dockman it is a 2" offset and I can't really shorten it any. I kind of need a 3 inch offset 1 inch drop to make it a better fit because right now it really tight as you can see. Thanks guys

Package from Gizmo came in today. I installed water outlets, 11/32 brass tubing into butch block with expoxy putty, pipe stop, and I put a rudder grommet on the exhaust hole. Sorry pics are dark and fuzzy my camera is lame. Enjoy!

RE: Expresscraft Thunderbolt
I didn't really give up on the easy vee. I finally got the engine running well and then the first day it was actually running well the cheap china pipe cracked at the header and I hit something in the water thus breaking the cheap aluminum prop. The little bit I saw of it running looksg reat. Sure was fast. I really wanted a cat and thoguht a fresh start might be nice because I messed up so much on te easy vee I don't think it would have lasted to long. I wanted a new boat with better quality gear. Anyway... so far the build has gone great. I'm still waiting on the strut and radio box...
ORIGINAL: stackeddeck the recent pics were of the pipe because I had clearance issues. I cut the cowl back more and it works great. Also I realize the bolts were upside down on the butch block and engine mount. I fixed them. These pics are about a week old. ( have been waiting on hardware)
yes they were backwards i flipped them so that the head of the bolt was on the bottom thus

RE: My New Cat Project
I think most all boats 40-50 in from those manufacturers will hit 40 mph with a stock engine. If you want like 60 mph you will have a harder time with some of em.

RE: My New Cat Project
SK, I just ordered an Expresscraft Thunderbolt. Expresscraft makes plenty of cats. I am new to RC and not one to recommend a boat for you but I have heard tons of great things about Expresscraft thats why I bought it. They look really good and are great for the money. If you have the money I think a very high quality cat would be a PPB Skater cat. Maybe a RC veteran can back this up. Good luck!

RE: Is this normal With proboat pipes
So how should a pipe be mounted when exiting the transom if it doesn't go up through the cowl? I need to make a clean finish for my pipe to exit my Thunderbolt (cat). I was told these rubber bushing would work but I don't know what they are or where to get them. Any other ideas?

RE: Is this normal With proboat pipes
The pipe I bought had a metal mounting hole coming out of the pipe and a friend made me a mount so that a screw goes through the hole. So no rubber mount. The pipe cracked in a bend right next to the flange. But it was my fault, I ran with a chipped prop. The prop probably caused the vibration and made the pipe crack. I didn't know that would harm the boat so I ran it. (its my first boat) Anyway...I got a Hanson pipe and header for the Thunderbolt I just ordered.
