Building a large foam plane
I am thinking of building a Lancaster bomber out of foam. It will be about 90-100" wingspan, and powered by one 61-90 size i.c. engine. It won't have any U/C. I have been flying for 30 years plus, but never built anything like this before. Does anyone have any ideas please? EG. Wing spars (Ive got lots of 5mm carbon rod) Tailplane construction, Covering material, Paint finish etc. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you Jack

RE: Ripmax Pro Peak Constellation charger
Hi Cowana/Philip (or anyone else) Could you tell me please, does the Constellation Charger/Discharger indicate the capacity of the battery after it is charged or before/after it is discharged? Thanks Stackerjack

RE: Reverse Running
Hi Guys Many thanks for your input. I have finally decided to fit two nuts, similar to what they have on four-stroke engines. I can see that drilling the crankshaft and fitting a pin is very positive, but I don't want to risk messing up the crankshaft. Loctite is good too, but since I am using a wooden prop. when I come to remove it the heat might wreck it. Thanks again. JR

Reverse Running
Hi I have just converted a Super Tigre to run clockwise. It started first flick, I blipped the throttle a few times, then the propellor came off.I know that the shaft really needs a left hand thread, but it hasn't got one. The nut holding the prop. was secured with locking wire, which broke. Now, I could use thicker wire, but I'm sure there must be a more elegant solution. Any ideas please? JR

RE: Irvine .53 vs. O.S. .50SX
Hi I've been flying R/C for 30 years or more, and used mainly OS engines. They have all been excellent apart from one, an OS40P, about 20 years ago. Now I have a problem. I bought an Irvine 46 which I used successfully for about 2 years, suddenly it started to cut after about 5 minutes in the air. I tried all sorts, no result. I removed it from the aircraft and ran it on the bench, still the same.It just slows down and stops. It isn't seized, and it starts again straight away. The fuel supply from the tank is OK.......I'm baffled. Anyone got any ideas please? Stacker
