RE: burning up spur gears
ORIGINAL: crispyspa Are we talking about old school t maxx or newer 4907 3.3 t maxx? I had this problem with the 2.5 tmaxx I had. Put in a spur gear, melt it off. You know that little metal thing in the middle of the slipper with the hex hole in it? I sanded about 1/32" off the width, assembled the slipper and tightened the nut all the way, didn't have a problem after that.
if its from 2003 when traxxas started to put the 2.5 engine in it than yes, after having the truck for about 9 years and about 10 gallons of nitro later i ordered the trx3.3 off of amazon for it

RE: burning up spur gears
ORIGINAL: The_Shark I wouldn't jump on any traxxas if you don't want slipper/spur or drivtrain issues, the T-maxx was the only truck I went through 5 spurs a gallon! usually spurs last me until the teeth are sharp. tighten a fresh spur, clutch and new nylock nut all the way tight, then back off 1/4 turn.
i'd put the 3rd slipper clutch and spur in and tightened it to what the manual said which is what you said to due, guess its the way that i drive it during break in

the 2nd was too loose this one was tightened to the instructions in the manual, i am guessing its either the transmission or the the diffs since i got a fully locked rear diff and a limited slipped front diff

burning up spur gears
hey guys while in the break in process of the trx.3 racing engine, i've gone through three slipper clutches and three spur gears, does anyone know why this happen? the second spur was too loose and the third one i just burnt up was set tight enough just like the first one so does anyone know why this happen?, i am about to pull the engine and buy a roller for either a t-maxx or revo not sure yet until i get an answer

RE: rc diesel engines?
ORIGINAL: qazimoto
ORIGINAL: savagecommander Glow engines are not diesel engines in any sense of the term.
Yes they are! Look up the Wiki entries for both. Actually you can replace the Kerosene in model diesel fuel with pump diesel fuel. From my experience it gives slightly less power but you can reduce both the oil content and the diesel ignition improver proportions a little as well.
if i replace kerosene with pump diesel, will i get some black smoke coming out of the exhaust like my buddies truck? if so i would put stacks on it lol

RE: transmission seized up by output gears?
well the output gear that caused the transmission to seized up, well it somehow got so damn hot that it melted itself to the case so, i might buy a 2.5 or 3.3 tmaxx roller just for the transmission

salvageable transmission or is it shot?
hey guys i was running break in tank 2 out of 5 on the new engine i dropped into my t-maxx which is the trx3.3 racing engine and the transmission seized up and won't even turn even if i try to force it by hand. so does anyone know why that might happen in and is there a way i can salvage it and don't have to spend a dime on it? the truck is from 2003 and originally had the trx2.5 engine

i just got this idea to make a stack or dual stacks for my t-maxx 2.5 by using the header pipe off the nitro rustler like this one http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXZRA6&P=OW and this ruber pipe as the actual stack but not sure yethttp://www.rcplanet.com/Traxxas_Rubber_Pipe_Exhaust_Rustler_p/tra4451.htm

t-maxx dually?
hey guys i am thinking about turning my maxx into a dually but is there a cheap and easy way to do so and will it have a major effect of traction and power? i took the front diff out of the truck to see how it would perform as a 2wd for awhile and found out the u-joint on the axle shaft that connects to the wheel is almost broken from that so i am not trying break parts again and again but i am trying to make into a scale dually pickup truck so any info or help is apprecianted

RE: new to airplanes but not helicopters
ORIGINAL: jester_s1 The ultra micro series is actually harder to fly than the bigger ones, and they are far more fragile. I have one of the micro helis and it's a blast, but think of taking it outside on a windy day and see what happens. The standard Hobby Zone Super Cub is hard to beat for a learn alone plane. Bigger is easier to see at distance, which gives you some time when you're in a weird position and you need to think, and it allows you to relax and let the plane fly without having to constantly turn it. Get 3 batteries and at least one extra motor mount (they break easily) and you'll have a blast with it.
well the ultramicros are under $200 well the ones i am looking at which makes it easy on my wallet

RE: new to airplanes but not helicopters
ORIGINAL: jester_s1 You nailed it, stalefishsk8er. And kudos to you for getting it so quickly. Some guys will argue for a week in the beginner forum that their jerry rigged idea will work, then leave when we won't agree with them. The RTF packages are usually pretty good and have the right components. If you're thinking bigger, any .40 sized ARF with any commonly available .40

new to airplanes but not helicopters
hello people, i am new to flying airplanes and i have flown helicopters in the past but looking to get into flying airplanes, i've been thinking of building a nitro powered aircraft with the servos and traxxas trx 2.5 engine from my traxxas 2.5 t-maxx. i've been looking at the piper j3 cub ultramicro scaled aircraft from horizon hobby but been looking at some other airplanes as well.
