RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Sorry guys If this is repetitive. I just converted my Standard Flash to the Ultra Flash. I can't find in the manual addendum the measurement for Take-Off Flaps and Full Landing flaps. Any advise would be appreciated. Also it looks like the CG is set at 220-225mm back from the wing/fuselage joint with the gear UP. Oops I set it last night with the gear DOWN. Does that sound like the proper GC? Thanks, Steve

RE: yellow aircraft f14 tomcat-
Good call Doug, Yes that's me from LZ-53. Thanks for you good suggestions on my T-Birds Flash. In fact tonight I'm working on the Ultra-Flash conversion. Countryboy I think you nailed it. I was told that the plane was originally built by Shalish Patel but that it hadn't been flown. It's been through a few owners but I didn't realize it was that old. Perhaps it got re-motored 3 years ago and not flown since that happened. If it indeed is that old I'll need to spend a lot of time going through it. Happy Flying, Steve

RE: yellow aircraft f14 tomcat-
Hey Agent, I just bought a beautifully detailed Yellow F-14 off RCU. Currently it has twin p-70's in it. It has been sitting in a crate for three years and it has never been flown. I should have it in a couple weeks. I'm not yet sure what needs to be done on it yet but it looks gorgeous in the pictures. The p-100's look like a very nice powerplant. Will probably need to be careful managing Max speed and loads. But a fast spool up and plenty of raw power can really be your friend if you ever get too slow. Agent, would you happen to have a manual showing CG, control surface travels and all that stuff you need to know BEFORE take-off?

RE: BUTTONWILLOW SPRING FLING
Thanks Scotty! Neil Smiley from Gyro Hobbies built the Torus and has flown it 5 or so times. I bought it from him after I started on the F-18F. My feeling was that it would be a little less challenging than the F-18F as a 'First Turbine'. My radio setup is a Multiplex Royal Evo with an Extremelink (XPS) module in the transmitter. It's been a really good performer for me which I can't say the same for my 'other' radio. I have a trainer cord setup for it. I'm a longtime builder and spent a lot of time on the forums building the F-18F. I'm pretty happy with it but I'm not too proud to accept advice and criticism. I'm smart enough to know that the best time to check out a model is BEFORE a maiden rather than during it! It looks like this event will be perfect to help me 'get it right'! Thanks, Best to all, Steve

RE: BUTTONWILLOW SPRING FLING
Good Afternoon Gentleman (Am I being too loose with that term?, jk), I am a newbie to Turbines but have been around the hobby since my first Tx was on "Red and White". I am looking forward to attending your event at Buttonwillow. My son and I are coming up from Orange County probably on Thursday, mid-day. I have not yet flown a turbine, (Well not a model, full scale turboprop experience). I've flown a lot of EDF's and ducted fans. I have put together a Boomerang Torus and a Skymaster F-18F and will hopefully have everything dialed before I come up. We've recently joined the JMRC Flyers at Camp Pendleton and unfortunately our weather has not cooperated with getting our birds airborne yet. Hopefully we will be able to get some great advice and help with successful maidens and signing off our Turbine Waivers. This looks like a really great event you are all planning! Can't wait to meet all of you! Happy Flying, Steve Kottman
