RE: The Bruce Tharpe Venture 60
Hi Shane, I see Bruce still offers replacement parts on his price list. you could buy a fuse and a wing etc. Have you tried to contact them about doing that? I have a number of other things I am interested in building also, maybe I should just sell you my kit [8|] Let me think on that one. i did not realize this was in such demand. Steve

RE: The Bruce Tharpe Venture 60
I have a kit I am just starting. I am thinking of making it into a two piece wing to ease the transport. I re-made the internal wing ribs in light ply and am putting the wing tube just ahead of the main spar. My wing tube is 24 inches, I may need to shorten it due to the dihedral. Has anyone else experimented with this? I hope it is strong enough. I love the simplicity of this plane. Steve

RE: Copperhead Aviation Venom 45-30
Hi there, I have a Venom 45 that I traded for with a person here on RCGoups. It is new but I think it is too big for the plane I am building. I would love to trade it for something a little smaller and thought I would throw this out here (even though I know this is not a for sale thread). I would sell it for a very good deal if anyone is interested. Looking for something in the 26 cc range, MVVS or Evolution would be ideal. It looks like a very nice engine, just too much for me. I am still new to gas and I did not realize what I was getting. thanks, my apologies if I should not post this here. [8|] Steve steveo64@earthlink.net

1114/4y
I found some info on the Aveox web site www.aveox.com under the older motors...it was for the mini-fan 480. I bought a used Kyosho fan (for the AP-29L motor) and was dissapointed to find that the 1114/4y was not the same diameter so alot of fussing looked to be in the cards. Right now that is where I am... my e-mail is steveo64@earthlink.net if I can help you more.. Steve

cloud dancer
Hi there, I have been reading all the articles on the Cloud Dancer 40 converted to electric. I always thought the 73" original version would be a great subject. Fred Reese talks about the design goal as being Kadet Senior wing loading in a performance package. Since I have seen kadet seniors fly well on 16-18 cells, it stands to reason that the Cloud Dancer would fly well here also....still I see the 40 size version flown with 14-20 cells. 20 seems overkill doesn't it? Anybody seen or heard of this conversion? Steve steveo64@earthlink.net

idea
Your dimensions sound alot like an AMPmaster. Go to www.ezonemag.com and search for the Ampmaster. This is a 10 cell plane that uses a geared motor like an Astro 05 or an MEC Turbo 10 GT. Check out the ampmaster and I would be glad to try to help in some way. I have been doing alot of fooling around with electrocalc lately... and playing with real planes. gearboxes
Check out what you can get from Hobby Lobby. www.hobby-lobby.com OR go to www.modelairtech.com for some really cool belt drives. The belt drives can be gotten with the correct motor shaft size (5mm) and do not require you to reverse and re-time your motor. You could also do the 3y direct drive. belt drive
I want to mess around and see if I can make a custom belt drive reduction unit. I want to try a few different things with a few different motors and this becomes really expensive fast. I have Electrocalc but i want real world. Does anybody know a source for the small belts and "sprokets" like Model Air tech uses? Or any other ideas? Somebody must have made their own drive. Thanks! Anybody made an EDF unit or something similiar to it? I saw the Clancy ducted BEE that uses a cut down prop in a tube and it got me thinking about it. I have an Aveox 1114/4y motor that needs a fan unit. Steve steveo64@earthlink.net

aveox 1114/4y ...what plane? Jet?
I find myself with an Aveox 1114/4y with a motor constant of about 2600RPM/volt. I think it would work well in a jet or with a small prop. The aveox motor stand seems to give strange results on this motor (might be me) Anybody have or had one of these, I would love to trade notes. I am thinking this would make a ZAGI a rocket. or it should work well in a small jet or pusher. Steve steveo64@earthlink.net

Hi! I downloaded a plan that is a " .dc" file and I cannot open it. I have Autocad and Visio but I cannot find a translator. Has anybody ever dealt with this before? CAD. Where to start?
Does Doug at Mountain Models do this service? I have one of his planes and he is a great guy to deal with. I will check with him on this. Maybe if the parts were scanned in then I could use something like autocad or Visio to verify the sizes to the plans. Then I could send them off. This would save some time. I would highly recommend Mountain Models kits...BTW. Thanks, Steve :p

CAD. Where to start?
Guys, Does this mean if I have a drawing of the parts I want I can pack them together on a common sheet size, scan them, save as .dxf and send to a laser cutter? Is it this easy? Can anyone lay out the steps here and maybe give me a laser cutter to go to? This would be really cool. Thanks! Steve steveo64@earthlink.net

gee bee electric
Hi there, I saw one of these in S&E Modeler a few months back with an AstroFlight 805G brushless and 8 - 3000mAH Nickel Metal Hydride batteries. It claimed 12-15 min flights. I think this sounds about right, maybe overkill. Try this link for a good 8 cell motor controller: http://www.modelairtech.com/combos.html Belt drive, brushless..and reasonable. I am going this way next. If you want to go cheaper, do an Endoplasm car motor, 8 cells and a Master Airscrew gearbox (you can get the Endo and the gearbox through Tower Hobbies). Hope this helps. I have a Thunder Tiger Lazy Cub that I am flying on 8 2000mAh cells and an MEC turbo 10 plus motor. This plane is for a 26 four stroke (like the GeeBee Tiger Moth) so I think it is about right. I think this setup is a bit overpriced based on what I am seeing out there. Steve steveo64@earthlink.net
