RE: AquaCraft Rio 51 Anyone?
If your referring to the stuffing tube ,it shouldent move at all. With movment it could bind the flex cable, and cause some issues.Easy fix is just a little epoxy or glass over it to secure. As far as sticking out the transome,It should go into the stinger a bit. On mine its so tight in there its hard to tell how far its out ,if at all.

RE: AquaCraft Rio 51 Anyone?
You are one of the lucky ones that has a good running fuji. As far as the hatch ,I would do a little glass repair and either use stock holddown again or invest it some aftermarket ones.I wouldent use velcro. Those lids are about $50 ,so I would just get a little epoxy and put a block of wood or what ever fits to keep epoxy from dripping through and just build up area where holddown used to fit. After it dries drill a new hole . You need a little venting in cap to keep a vacume from building up as fuel leaves .I ditched my shaft oiler years ago. But I did a complete rebuild on mine. If you get the bug and want to do more ,there is pleanty of info here. It is a great hull platform to build a fun first boat. Also just put a nylon bolt in the bottem. For more rio info ,there have been a few guys working over their Rios on jims site. jrcbd.

RE: Rio 51 Shaft & what else...?
I would price all the parts out and see if going to an aftermarket strut system would be better. I have heard a few complain about their drivelines breaking so now would be a great time to upgrade. Go to hor racing ,they have a great looking strut for $50 with flex shaft. My stock rio hardware has been great ,but if it breaks ,that would be my next step. Also on the dock you can usually find speedmaster strut used for a great deal.

I would also check to make sure carb is clear and no debris .If its the 23 its been around awhile and probably sets for a time and carb can gum up. When you start it does your finger get wet with gas while pull starting it.

Looking at pictures ,those areas look like use damage. The bow is pushed in and also scrapped up good. My guess is it was banged up before packed, but I could be wrong.

What did the shipping box look like, did the damage on the box match the damage on the boat. That chip in the gel,was there pieces in the box. Was there photos of the item before shipped. Looking at those pictures that box should have been toast looking at damage or shipper dident pack well at all. Unless box was really damaged ,I would file a paypal claim

RE: for sale
There are kits that put two zenoahs togeather and that will never come close to a full inline 520 .The kits link the motor togeather, the rcmk is one crank. Dont overthink this .Do you have a lot of experiance with gas.If not you should get a strong single and you will be shocked on how fast it goes.A twin requires some past experiance or you will get fustrated and give up(no fun) Get a good motor and just run that boat.(FUN). The info these guys are giving you is pricless because most of us have been through it and trying to save you money and keep you into this hobby.A strong single will surprise you. Just take in some of this advise

First off this site and there is another site that is all gas boats will have more info than you can take in. Also all the members have been thru builds and can steer you the right direction. Also go to modelgasboat.com , its like an online magizine with info for you about gas boats with some how to's and tech question area. With any of these sites make sure you use their search function. There is nothing that hasent been discussed before.

RE: best motor
I must be lucky because my Rio just keeps on running and the hardware works great. Usually the guys who post about the Rio are having issues and are fustrated. Seems to me with the rtr boats is newbe guys (like me when I got mine) Are on the bottem end of the learning curve and we blow up the forums with complaints ,its usually operator error.Of course the fuji motor being the exception. When we learn from our Rios and such ,we have half a clue what were doing and realize how to have fun with these boats. A few on here tell you to sell and build your own boat . I love doing builds and thats my thing ,but for many doing a mod to a rtr is a lot easier to do,because some are just getting into the hobby and getting their feet wet.So I think selling his boat and losing intrest in boating before he gets his boat built from scratch might not be the best route. Of coarse Im not saying the rio is better than the average race boat you can buy used on the dock but if you already have the rio enjoy it ,If you get addicted ,then grow from there.

RE: best motor
I would look on here in classified motor section and see if there is a history of the motor being sold and for how much.I have seen them on here before so you should see something. As for the price of a new motor being worth it , it depends on how fast you want to go. If you want to cruise then a stock zen would be a good bet ,but if your looking for some speed then the k30 is an option. Also another option is going with a stock zen and putting a head kit on it down the road as you grow with the hobby. You can make a stock zen come alive with that . There also the other site JRCBD that has some good deals on used motors .Just deal with someone that has many post so you have a better chance at quality stuff .The guys over there try to weed out some

RE: best motor
Go to gizmo motors and look around under motors ,you can look at zenoah or rcmk .They are in seperate catagories. under zenoah motors they have a few that are really hopped up ,but I think for the money the k30 would be a good choice.

RE: rio 51 mods
It is a great hull and I find the hardware to be decent, but ditch the motor and get a rcmk or a zenoah . I put the cy kwa motor in mine with the clutch. It runs great and is a solid boat that can handle more power. I am actually thinking about removing my clutch to move my center of gravity back and really get it moving. The clutch hinders that by having to have motor foward. Its a fun boat to run and can handle some chop.If you like having the clutch ,I would get a motor with a upgrade head kit like something from gizmos. The hull can handle more power. Thats probably my next step with this boat myself.

RE: Bay Area Boat painter?
If you ever make your way towards Fresno theres a place called cycle art that that does custom paint on bikes and rc anything. He also has a store front that sells rc cars. His number is 559 - 233-5234. Im sure if you look at smaller custom shops you can find someone local.A lot of those guys do smaller jobs like painting helmets.

It has retrived my Rio 51 many times and gets it back fine. Now an 8.5 foot aircraft carrier from wood. You need a tug. This retrivel boat does get out there quite fast. Alot faster than I can row out. You could always add a system to attach a line and use it as a line tender to hook up your ship to a fishing pole

RE: DISGUSTED
Reading the post above,I would say there isnt enough profit to have a deep inventory and manpower to give us all things we can order at the click of a mouse .Im sure its hard to compete when you have product from overseas to compete with . I think the most important thing for a small hobby business to succeed is good communation with the customer and just be straight foward with time for product as well as fair price. So far Ive had good luck from people I purchace from ,but I would say its not so much luck but I only by from people with good feedback from other customers. One great tool is these forums to hear feedback from customers and also there are builders/supplyers that area active on these sites. Most of the guys that are active on these sites have a great rep and are very helpful with info . I know looking at Tom from expresscraft ,from items hes been selling ,I see a lot of good feedback and there are a lot of other ones on here. And of course there are some I would never touch. If your prop guy was rude ,I would let him know why he wouldent get your business. No excuss for being rude when trying to get someones business. He must be the guy making all the money and dosent need your business .As far as the other prop guy that has sent you 3 props that hasent worked .Hats off to him for trying. But for the most part I do agree with you

nitro fuel in gas engine . Damage?
I just looked at a proboat 1/8 miss bud on craigslist and seen this listed for 550 and so I figured take a look for my kid. He is getting hooked and likes hydroplanes . My issue with this boat is that nitro was run in the boat and apperantly it ran on it. When I met the seller he told me how expensive the fuel was so I looked in the tank and sures enough ,there was nitro in there.I let him know it will be an issue on the motor and not sure what it will do to the motor? By chance I used to work with the guy and he told me I could take it home and see what the damage and we would talk about price after I check it out .Cant argue with that .

I usually take mine up to millerton lake with my son ,but havent seen anyone around here running boats. Stephen

That sounds high, maybe the seller could at least find a box and wrap with bubble wrap and paenuts. If the seller is near wharehouse hobbies maybe they can help him with a box as they ship hulls for 75$. Maybe if you order some parts for the boat if needed ,you could get tony to ship it with his shipping methods for whatever his cost would be.Im assuming its cheaper than 262$ .Just a thought.

If you do a search on ebay for fountain rc boat ,you get a seller that has a 35" electric version of the almost identical boat. They also have a few more other hulls. One thing I do wish is that companys like proboat and aquacraft would and the others would offer boats that look like the venom kos in reguards to decals of sponcers and so fourth. Most boats have crazy graphics that look like hotwheels paint jobs. The reason the king of shaves sold is it great looks. It is good to see hulls with the sponcer type badging.I think if they did that to the rio 51 and offered different liverys of race teams , that would be great.
