RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
ORIGINAL: Si-F3a Just curious if anyone else has had this issue with the Vanquish. Am asking as I have just spent a couple of hours on the same issue? I have an earlier vanquish and had no problems at all. The set screws on that (with loc tite) move easier that those in the 2 stabs I have been working on tonight. Result is I have 1 stab with screws in that wont move any more and the other one has both sides Naged up so bad I cannot get the dammed things in. have already sent a mail into EF and am awaiting their reply, Simon
I also had a hard time with the stab adjusters. They are made cheaply and will strip out very easy. One of mine stripped just as it became flush with the top of the stab, I contacted extreme trying to find a suitable replacement but they wasn't much help. I ended up removing a section of the sheeting on the stab and removing the stab adjuster and locking it down at 0 degrees with a 1/4" wheel collar and the plywood wing adjuster they came with the kit. I set the stab at 0, slid the plywood adjuster over the rod, installed the wheel collar and double checked the incidence until I was happy and locked it down and CA glued the plywood. Then I replaced the sheeting and patched the ultracoat. I think the wheel collar is actually stronger than the adjuster. I haven't heard of anyone setting the stabs at anything other than 0 degrees, so locking it down shouldn't be a problem.
ORIGINAL: ytell Can you tell if inverted level flight leads to the same result? can you fly upright and inverted hands off with the same trim?
inverted flight is pretty normal just requiring a little down elevator but no additional trim changes.

RE: 62
Thanks for the input, I did add weight to the light wing and both wings are now at 270g but it made no difference, still left aileron trim of about 3/16 to 1/4". Elevator halves appear to be even and I can't notice any warp in the wing panels. I will check the wing incidence and see if adjusters are needed. Thanks again for the help.

RE: 62
Thanks ytell, I weighed the wings. The right wing is a bit heavier than the left. Right wing weighs 270g and the left weighs 263g. I'm thinking adding weight near the servo area??? Gets me close to the center of the wing. You guys think 7 grams is enough to cause the problem?

62" Osiris trim problem
My 62" Osiris flys level and straight only with a noticeable amount of left aileron trim and right rudder trim. Looks like the fiddler crab. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
Dana, thanks for the suggestion. Locking it down at 0 is probably the best idea. I have a small amount of the stabs sheeting removed already when I removed the stripped adjuster. I think I can set it at 0, then lock it down with a plywood spacer and a 1/4" wheel collar. Then replace the sheeting. [:D]

Stab or Stab Adjuster fo 2M Vanquish
I am looking for a stab for a 2M Vanquish from Extreme RC or the stab adjuster for the Vanquish, I stripped mine out when I was building the plane and have found myself up a creek without a paddle. The adjuster is a little different than the gator, the diameter for the tube it fits on is about 1/4" which is a little larger than the gator stab adjuster. If anyone has one please let me know, or if anyone knows of a stab adjuster that fits the larger tube that info would be appreciated.

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
Thanks guys, the screw is a set screw (no head) into an aluminum adjuster. The screw siezed just as the head became flush with the stab.Repeated efforts to remove the screw damaged the adjuster severly, (drilling etc). I didn't think of heating with the soldering iron which may have worked in the beginning of the problem. The problem is the only stab adjuster I can locate are the gators and the diameter for the tube is too small, the vanquish has a 1/4" tube that the stab adjust on. I thinking maybe I can modify a gator wing adjuster by cutting a block out of hard plastic (cutting board) or maybe even a hard wood and tapping it to achieve an adjustable mount with a movable center section. Extreme RC says they have stab replacements on order but no delivery date. They have no idea of the location of a replacement adjuster. Plane is ready to fly...less one stab[&o]

Anyone know where to buy the aluminum stab adjusters used in the Vanquish. I tried the gators but the diameter has to be at least 1/4" to fit over the tubing and the gators were too small. I've had no luck locating the ones used in the Vanquish.

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
Bad problem, the threads for one of the set screws in the horizontial stabilizer were bad and would not accept the screw. Repeated efforts to install the screw damaged the threads beyond repair and I have managed to get the set screw stuck wit the head flush to the horizontial stab. I'm hoping Extreme flight will sell me another stab but was hoping maybe someone knew the name of this part ( the aluminum set screw assembly) and where to purchase it. I think I could remove some of the sheeting on the stab and replace it if I could find one. [&o]

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
It's pretty simple. Set your clearance to the spinner and bolt it up. I use wooden spacers supplied with the plane or washers will do. Hyperion make some nice laser cut wooden washer in varied thicknesses. They are handy for doing this. Thanks 88, I read in a post at the beginning of this thread that there were no holes drillled in the firewall, thats why I was looking for tips on mounting the motor. Upon inspecting the Vanquish I just received I see they have addressed this issue, mine has three hole drilled that appear to line up with the silver bullet. Thanks for your help

I am using my first YS 140 FZ on my pattern plane.I bought it used, it seems to have plenty of power.I am using a 16 x 10 prop and running power master pattern blend 25%.My problem is when I first start the engine I set the throttle trim so the engine idles good, but after I take off and fly a few minutes and come in for a landing the idle is quite fast making landing difficult.Any suggestions? Thanks
