RE: Panzer IV Tamiya speaker.
ORIGINAL: YHR Tamiya speakers are 4 Ohm and as a result are louder. As you mentioned the speaker box design also helps. Aura's are another brand of speakers that are killers. 3 " are awesome but they are deep so it takes a special tank to mount them This little 2 inch will fit in just about anything and would be perfect in the PZIV. They are hitting 84 dba at 1 Watt [link=http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-2-fullrange/aurasound-nsw2-326-8at-2-full-range/]Aura speaker[/link].
Thanks for the link for the aura speakers....I checked their site and found that they have a distributor in St-Hubert P.Q. ( near Montreal)... I've been looling for small size speakers for a while and bought a pair of those....www.solen.ca/pdf/aura/NSW1-205-8A.pdf

RE: Tanks vs. evil balloons
Very nice and creative .... But when I look at the informations about the author of the video ; I couln't help noticing that He's living in a free country called Sweden ... Wonder what would happen if this was made in a " police state" like : Canada or U.S.A, ?? You would have the Mounties or the Feds. knocking at your door a day later ...... What ever happened to our freedom ????? ( By the way ; sorry about the vocabulary , the grammar and the ponctuation ....I'm french )

RE: More News 2.4ghz
There's no need for more testings since I was just trying to show that the cannon sound and the track recoil are tied together , like on the RX-18 andRX-14 ... They also kept the " whimpy" running sound of the RX-18 ... I sincerely hope that H.L. doesn't plan to fade out the RX-18 for that new board .... But just in case ; I better start saving for a Tamiya ..

RE: More News 2.4ghz
Here's a short video of the module ... Notice that the track recoil is so jerky and draws so much power that my old 2000mAh torro NiMH test battery ( although fully charged )couldn't supply enough power and the sound of the cannon was cutting off .... I had to disconnect the motors to get the cannon sound ... The track recoil has to go !!!! youtu.be/nxTwIpDGUMk

If you want a good technical review of the unit , check the one from Kevin ( RcTanksAustralia) on this forum: www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php Meanwhile , here's some pics of my unit ... Notice that the taigen module is totally different that the RX-18 ...

RE: More News 2.4ghz
Wow !!! Just received my unit 10 minutes ago ...Took 5 working days to get it ( Is Steve slowing down ??? ) Don't have time to post an extensive review today because I'm getting ready for work ... But here's a quick answer about the mystery 9 pins connector as seen on the picture ... It doesn't exist on the real board There's only traces of the connector on the p.c. board

RE: More News 2.4ghz
I ordered one of these last week from Welsh Dragon and should receive it anytime soon ... I know from reviews on another forum that the sound of the main gun and the track recoil are tied together like on the RX-18 .. As for the mystery connector ; I have no clue so far ... Could it be the 9 pins " Messiah" that will redeem the design ????

RE: Super Smoker is Back Super Smoker II
It's good to finally have another option than the H.L. smoke unit to choose from ...And the price is right too ; considering that it costs around $ 40.00 ( this include the price of the smoker) to upgrade the H.L. unit to a working condition ...

RE: Tank Carry Bags
Thanks Freaky Dude , I think it's a great idea .... I don't really care about the color either , but since I have no transportation ; most of the time ,I use an old plastic grocery basket to carry my tank to the park across the street ... But there is another park in Sudbury , along Ramsey lake ; with sandy beaches where I would rather take my tank ... This place is about 20 minutes walk from where I live; and having to carry my Pershing in a basket that far is a bit straining for me ... The solution for me , would be to have a tank bag that I could carry " back pack" style ... It would be just a matter of adding the strapping to the regular tank bag ...

RE: Pershing Rotation
Sorry ; I didn't mean to highjack your thread by showing my mod. I wanted to show that the slip ring could be installed in the chassis ( like you did ); or mounted in the hull ( like I did ) .... Besides , I am not a 100% happy with the Asiatam recoil and I'm thinking of replacing it by a Tamiya one ... I need to know if the Tamiya recoil is compact enough to remain inside the turret ; or if it is sticky down into the chassis when the gun is at maximum elevation ???? If the recoil is sticking down through the turret ring ; I won't be able to mount the slip ring inside the ring ....

RE: Pershing Rotation
Good job ...The inside of the Tamiya pershing sure is more crowdy than the H.L. ... I was able to mount the slip ring inside the turret ring of my H.L. pershing ....But I had to use the Asiatam recoil unit to be able to do so ... www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11018580/anchors_11019947/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#11019947

RE: Inexpensive digital sound card for DBC2
Nice to see that some work is being done to develop a cheaper alternative to improve the H.L. sound .... I have been doing some experiments of my own in that same direction ... I chose to remain 100% analog , and design a Voltage Controled Oscillator ( V.C.O.) ; which is triggered by the RX -18 sound module ; and then remix with it so I can keep the better sound effects like : start up , machine gun , main gun and shut off ; while " beefing up" the whimpy running sound ...It's nothing fancy but it's another avenue to be explored ....youtu.be/fInrTeD_Hqw

RE: smoke unit
It's a non-proportional smoke unit ( looks like they're using two 10 Ohms 1/2 Watts resistors to lower the speed of the pumping motor ) You should try to run the tank with the hull open and check if the pump is working ... If the pump is working and there's still no smoke ; either the unit is overfilled with smoke fluid ; or the nichrome heater element is broken... If nothing is working at all; then it's probably that master switch ...

RE: Henglong 7 Taigen transmitter
As far as I know, Taigen is using Heng Long electronics ; so a H.L. smoke& sound transmitter should do the job ; as long as you have matching crystals : ( TX and RX of the same frequencies) ... Try Matomart international ...I don't know how much and how long is the shipping overseas ....www.matomart.com/prodview.php

RE: Henglong 7 Taigen transmitter
I would first try to get Nitrotek to replace the faulty transmitter ...But they don't have a very good reputation for their " after sales services" ; as per this thread : www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11106993/tm.htm If Nitrotek does'nt come throught , I would suggest to try the best U.K. supplier there is : www.welshdragonmodels.co.uk/heng-long-transmitter-unit-smokesound-version-507-p.asp I think that Steve holds the world record for " shipping speed "

RE: HL Pershing Gearbox Question
I've been running those gear boxes with the " Graupner speed 400 (7.2V) for almost 3 weeks in my pershing .... I'm quite happy with the results , as it did rise the top speed and gave me enough torque to mow the lawn in the park ... I bought those gear boxes 5 years ago from " RC Command) and they"ve been at least in 3 different tanks since ...They are indestructible ... Note that I'm also running my pershing with the plastic tracks ...

RE: Heng Long Proportional Smoker revisited
The " tanks don't smoke " solution is , of course the best and easy way to fix the smoke unit problem ...But if you don't agree with that statement and can't get a super smoker from Phil ; you're left with the task of fixing the existing H.L. smoker yourself ... I've been doing that for a while and found a way to improve the durability and the smoke output of those units ... You can follow the mod. on that thread :www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php

RE: Install Asiatam Recoil in Panzer 3
The thick red wire is a ground wire and connects the recoil motor to the ground via the micro switch as to complete the recoil cycle ( bringing the gun to the original position )... They should have used a black wire as to avoid any confusion ... The small red wire bring the power (7.2 Volts ) to the elevation and the recoil motors ... The green wire triggers the elevation and the yellow wire triggers the recoil while the thick red wire ( when connected to the ground ) completes the recoil cycle .... Hope this helps ...Norm.
