RE: axial ax10
Dude, do not buy the ax10 rtc. you will wind up paying way too much for hop ups. Buy the ax10 kit, the the novak rooster, or goat with lipos. and a good 3 channel radio, i got a futaba 3 ch set up at tower for 135.oo the third channel will be for dig unit. The kit comes with all the aluminum stuff, the plastic parts on the rtc are weak. Bend and sway under force. It is a very capable crawler, mine will almost go up a wall. Go to rccrawler.com and check out the scorpion builds there. have fun, George

,twisting servo wires
Hi all. I have seen some video, and pic's of finished aircraft where the servo lead wires were twisted. What is the purpose of this procedure? Does it have something to do with interference of the signal? I am building a 27% edge 540, and want to do it right. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks, George

RE: A club isn't always available to a beginner
5487, I went to my "local" club, 55 miles one way, every weekend for 5 months with my kadet LT 40. The trainer would either not show , or be to disoriented from heart and diabetes medication to safely fly. We got in 3 flights during that time , while no other member offered to help me solo. I finally got exasperated and went out and learned on my own. By the 3rd plane i was doing good. These fellows are correct in advising others to find a good club, but there as here there are those who have no time for newbie questions. it is easier to let someone else do the answering, and training. But here online there is also the weight of responsibility that goes with that knowledge, are they going to destroy an aircraft, and possibly hurt themselves or someone else?. I think the question should be answered first, then the advice should be given next. As for the recipient of the given knowledge ,(excuse me please) READ the whole reply cmpletely! Too many people skim the reply and dont understand what the meaning truly is and go off half cocked. Some of the members have been answering the same questions so long it gets mundane so, the rest of us should be diligent in research prior to hasty posting. Just my 2 cents, George

RE: Bad answers from a LHS!
According to my local hobby shop, carl goldberg retired or passed away, and the company sold. i was going to buy one of the eagle II trainers to teach my neighbor to fly. The hinges are ca and pre installed, and the quality is pretty bad compared to the eagle arf i soloed with 12 years ago. My lhs got to me on a dave patrick ultimate arf, 249.99. which i found later for 200.00 new by cermark who took over patricks stuff. owner stated its a nice plane and puffed alot of smoke. Then i find out patrick is no longer in business, no warranty on missing items, plus its a pos. George

RE: powerline hobbies edge 540 vs ST 3250
OK, guy's , I have been building, and flying 46 size models. I know nothing about large planes. the fellow at our local hobby shop sold me the plane, and told me to get the 3250 for it. I called Powerline Hobbies, and talked to "chuck" who told me they were running 35-50cc gas burners on their's. Local shop owner is old and is getting forgetful. I was just checking up on what should be in the plane. Thanks, George

Not to mention the hobby shop neglected to tell me patrick is out of business, and i have no support or warranty on a new ARF ! Anyway, I bought another plane that they had and am trying to find info on that too, please see ( powerline hobbies edge 540 vs ST 3250) , could use some help there too. Thanks to all, George

ultimate bipe engine question
i am building and rebuilding a dave patrick ultimate arf, the fellow at the hobby shop talked me out of an inverted mount so i mounted sideways. Now my fuel tank centerline is an inch below my centerline on the carb of my saito 56. Will this run into problems with rich/lean runs?? He wanted me to carve out the cross bracing ply and raise the tank, but the struts for mounting the wing are there so it doesnt look like a good idea. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, George

powerline hobbies edge 540 vs ST 3250
i have a powerline 23% edge 540 arf, ws- 73.84", length- 70.04, wing area- 770.85 sq in, weight 4500-4700 grams, engine 90-120 2 stroke, 120-180 4 stroke. I bought this from my local hobby shop, and he stated i should go with the ST 3250 since i cant afford a 4 stroke. What do you guys think? too much engine , too heavy??? This is my first big plane, so i am not sure. I dont fly 3-D so i just putt and mess around. Thanks, George

dave patrick ultimate 40 arf
Hi all; i am building a ultimate and i have a saito 56 mounted sideways on the firewall, and this leaves the fuel tank centerline 1" lower than centerline of carb. Will this cause a problem with rich/lean flights? what fix if any. the local hobby guy who sold it to me(without telling me dave patrick is out of business) says cut the fuse wide brace out to move the tank up. this looks like a bad idea, as the struts that go to the wing attach here. Any help would be appreciated. George

Whistling death; that makes sense, thanks ! The fellow i talked to at power-line told me very little, he was curteous, and took time to look up my questions on their sheets, but was not able to tell me this. He did say if i were using a gas engine the range was, 2C : 40 - 53, 4C : 52 - 72 . I thought those were a bit large for this size plane. Thanks to all, George

power-line hobbies 540 edge 23%
Hi, i could use help with a problem i'm having. up until now i have been flying 40-60 size planes. This is my first big plane, and the instructions are unclear. There is a box affair that slides into the firewall, it does not go flush, and it has an angle to the right as you were looking from the rear to the front of the aircraft. the instructions show a flat, smooth, one piece firewall. is this the motor mount? The instructions call for 2c- 90. , to 1.20 ... 4c- 1.20 , to 1.80 ... any engine recommendations? how about servos, High torque is probably the way to go, but which one's, i fly JR. I called powerline and chuck was really nice to take time for me, but his direction sheet showed a flat firewall too. he suggested i post here to find help. Thanks for your help to a confused guy. Sincerly, George Plane specs- WS-73.84" L-70.04" Wing area- 770.85 sq" rtf weight- 4500- 4700 grams
