RE: Aquacraft Revolt 30
Ya, I hear ya though. When I got my first FE boat, a Motley Crew, it was in such need of "fixup" that I almost quit the hobby before I got started. Now my MC is quite heavily "modded" and I love love love it.

RE: I am SOOOOOOOOOOO getting Real Flight
I dont know but I'm sure it would say in the manual, available online if you dont have it. Keyboard only for the demo I'm pretty sure.

RE: Aquacraft Revolt 30
Well, when mine was "stock" it got quite hot after 4 1/2 minutes straight out running. So I changed the esc, wires, and bullets. Now I run a GR 42-55 with a Aquastar 120 and 5.5 battery connectors and 6mm on the motor. Still gets mighty warm after 3 or 4 minutes of hot laps. I don't question that you have a problem, just commenting is all.

RE: Aquacraft Revolt 30
Well, yes. Running for 7 minutes straight will straight up ruin most setups in a FE boat setup to run on the edge. I f running 7 straight minutes is your goal, then you need to prop down, alot.

Rewinding what? the motor? I didnt know you could do that with a brushless motor.

RE: Aquacraft Revolt 30
That looks pretty good, what's the red jumper wire on the battery connections for? I have a bit more space between my stuffing tube and collet, at least an inch, dont know if that matters. I put a piece of tubing on there to try and stop any water from entering the boat, havent had a problem so far. And on my Motley Crew, the motor is alot further from the transom than on yours, must be to get the hull balanced. Now that I foamed the front it's fron heavy a bit.

RE: Aquacraft Revolt 30
That doesnt look to good to me, I would adjust so that when you slide the flexshaft into the tube, it goes into the collet without having to even touch it. Thats how I got mine on my Motley Crew now, and I can really tell the difference when I blip the throttle out of the water. Much less vibration.

RE: What Do Ya'll Use For Rescue Boats
I love the boogie board rescue boat. I am using my Traxxas Villain to rescue my Motley Crew if needed. Very manueverable with the twin steerable outdrives. But I would love to build a boogie board rescue craft using ducted fan motors, I have a problem sometimes with getting stuck in weeds or pads, and I am thinking the ducted fan motors might be an answer to running over the weeds for a rescue.

RE: water proofing my ESC
ORIGINAL: seehuusen so, the second ESC just burned up on the weekend :( I don't think the board got water on it, it was very well covered... This was a case of the fets popping... again... :( Madmorgan, I purchased a Turnigy Aquastar 120A Watercooled ESC w/Programming Card to stop all this nonsense hahaha ;) It was worth the test, I'm happy to spend the extra coin where needed, but do love a great bargain... this wasn't one of them LOL :p Cheers Martin
I also have one of those Aquastar 120's w/program card. How do you like it? I have only run mine twice in my Motley Crew, dont have a temp gauge, it felt quite warm but not hot, running stock 1800kv motor on 4s.
ORIGINAL: madmorgan yeah last time i ordered from hk i got 3 turnigy 180's i figured why not 75 bucks versus 100 + anywhere else sadly i havent even run my boats (fe's) since. im really debating if i should sell my electrics and just stick with my 4 foot gassers , them zens run good once needles are set and you get the pipe dialed in. these electrics are way to finniky and it seems like they constantly die or something wads up!
madmorgan, please let me know if you do decide to sell anything for FE boats, I am especially interested in the 180's. Thanks.

Interesting collection. I would think you will like the "low maintenance" electrics. A little off the topic but, what micro/mini heli would you recommend for a first timer?

RE: Motley Crew reinforcments
Reinforced motor mount with aluminum stock. Really stiffens it up and gets rid of the flex. Also carefully drilled and then used larger screws with washers on the lower motor mount holes. I have also enlarged the holes on the motor mount to allow for some adjustment. RE: Motley Crew Info ?
No one is "telling him" anything, only suggesting that a run time of 4 to 5 minutes is a realistic estimate of run time with a Motley Crew and a fairly stock setup. Of course this will differ depending on setup and rigging. Last evening I ran my MC fairly hard for 5 mins and still had plenty of good juice left at the end of the run. Before I had my boat setup (properly?) I was getting very hot components after about 4 mins. A litle attention paid to the boat and how it runs will greatly increase your understanding and enjoyment.

Motley Crew reinforcments
Reading around on different forums I have been getting the itch to strengthen and reinforce my MC. I would like to install an OSE style motor mount but the "floor" of the MC is very thin and flimsy. What about epoxying in some 1/8" plywood? Would that be a smart move? The hatch compartment is very rectangular and would be easy to work with. I thought about even cutting the thin floor out and installing something stronger. I suppose I could carbon fibre the inside, but I have no experience working with CF. There is some kind of reinforcment under the area of the raised portions of the deck. Under the ESC/RX/Servo. what other ideas are there for strengthening this boat? I also thought about foaming inside the hull. Would this provide any structural strength?

RE: AquaCraft Motley Crew Off-Shore FE Catamaran
You guys are getting up to 60mph with the Motley Crew? Wow, that is some speed. Don't know if I dare chance that kind of speed with this hull. I am not an experienced FE boater.

RE: Motley Crew Info ?
This is some great info. Yes, you should time your runs and see what is best for your own situation. But 4-5 mins is a pretty good estimate on a 5,000mah lipo. Another thing is that the stock connectors will get hot. I upgraded the battery to ESC connections with Castle 5.5mm bullets. I would like to put some 6mm bullets on the motor to ESC but will that help with only the 14g wire that comes with the MC's ESC? 14g? that seems pretty cheapo, should have put at least 12g wire in this boat. My new batteries have 8 gauge wire! Like a firehose, this stuff is huge!

RE: Motley Crew Info ?
If you can get the 5,000 packs and you will gain maybe a minute. The GrimRacer packs are very good I am sure. Just too pricey for my blood. I get around 4 1/2 minutes with a GrimRacer 42-55 and 4,400mah Sky Lipos. I just bought 4 Zippy 45C 5,000mah, havent had a chance to use them yet.

RE: Rescue plane?
I would like to know why you say you wouldnt use it for that? Not enough power? or what? I value your opinion very much as you are an actual owner of this plane. Which I would like to own regardless of whether or not I could use it for rescue. But yes, I would like it if you could elaborate a little please.

What about if you wear a flotation vest? Like for fishing, a life jacket that wont let you go under if you get tired.

I would love to get this and use it as a rescue craft. Do you think it would work. I am thinking the gaff method, like the Proboat duck gaff. Enough power? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=001376096&I=LXVPE5&P=K

RE: Aquacraft Revolt 30
Those look like just what I am looking for. A better quality, " professional" quality boat with good electronics. I could just buy another reciever for my radio that I use for the Motley then right? To use the same radio on both models I mean. The Kintec even comes with a servo. I use the Traxxas water proof servo out of my Summit for the MC, so I have one of those as well as I upgraded my Summit to a single Hitec.

RE: Aquacraft Revolt 30
I have a Motley Crew, and am considering my next boat. Torn between this, the PB Impulse 31, or buying a hull with hardware and adding my own electronics. This looks like a very nice boat. I just don't think much of the strength, or rather lack of, in the MC's hull. Seems pretty flimsy in places.
