ORIGINAL: jbooker82 I believe a Hot Bodies truck uses harder side diff gears. Not sure on wich one. Do you grease the diff drive cups. That should keep them from wearing out. I just pack it will good old wheel bearing grease.
I cant find hot bodies diffs or gears to suit the savage. Im not having trouble with the diff drive cups, they look brand new. Its the alloy diff case thats getting play where the cup slides into it.

RE: Savage Set Up for Racing? Reducing Body Roll?
Heres what ive done to my flux, It makes it literally un-rollable Axial beadlock rims Proline 40 series bow tie tyres TCS crawlers XL flux chassis plates (orange) HPI suspension Link this word and every other one like it in our forum to YOUR Website! conversion kit HPI Stiff springs 11.5 coils (yellow 177gF/mm) 80 weight shock oil front and rear sway bars Hitec 7980 steering servo (6.0v torque: 38kg speed: .20sec) Integy universal shock towers Also i have lowered shocks by putting a piece of fuel tubeing over the shock shaft inside the shock body itself. You can change the ride height by the length of tubeing you use. A good and cheap way of lowering you savage. You will have to cut the springs down to suit the length of shock you will have. You want to get it low, stiff, wide and long for it to be able to handle. This combination works really well, hope this helps.

Flux split diff gear, Is there any options?
Ive had my flux for about 8 months and used it about 10-12 times. It started behaving really strange the other day, anyway it turns out that ive split one of the internal diff gears in half, one of the bigger ones and the pin is in about 4 pieces. Ive figured out why this has happened. Its due to the play that gets in the diff cup between the cup itself and the drive cup and of course due to the power of the brushless. When that play gets to much it causes the gear to move and then it bights with the spider gears and just brakes the pin and splits the gear in half. I never had this issue in my old nitro savages, they just used to wear out. Ive never seen one split in half before. Does anyone know of any one who makes a steel diff cup? When i pulled it apart i was hopeing that it was just the gear casue i have spare gears but the pin in the diff cup is jambed and it half hanging out making the diff cup not removeable from the cup. And there is alot of play in the alloy cup housing. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have any othe suggestions to try and help this from happening again? I forgot to mention that they are the bullet proof diffs to.
How do you lower suspension?
Pull the shock apart and cut a small piece of fuel tubing and slide it over the shock shaft and then put the shaft back in the shock body making sure that the tubing is inside the shock body, have a play with the length of the tubing to get the right ride height that you want. Its pretty easy.

Heres a link to what ive done to my flux, it handles like its on rails. I race it and it keeps up with revo's no worries which i think is pretty good for a savage. the only thing ive changed is that ive gone back the the standard width axles http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10546141/tm.htm

Problem with drive
Ok so i got my brand new MBX6 out yesterday and something weird is going on. Anyway i got it going on my local oval and it seemed as though the clutch was slipping or i was only getting front drive. apon later inspection i noticed that the back wheels were only getting partial drive, i can hold the back wheels with my hands and give it some gas and only the front wheels turn and if i do it vice versa hold the front wheels and give it some gas it bogs down and you can feel the clutch engaging and pushing but no wheels turn if you know what i mean.

RE: Savage Flux 2350 - wheel nut problems
This is a very common problem with the flux's. I never had this issue with all my nitro savages over the years simply because the savage 25 had oppistite thread on either side and the x didnt produce enough power to start stripping the hex's. Once the hex's start to wear even the slightest bit they will just keep undoing. A simple way HPI can fix this anoying issue is make some left hand thread nuts and axles.

RE: savage flux lower alloy arms
I used to have a GPM set for my savage 25 and they were really heavy duty, heavy and made of dense aluminium 7075 grade i think. I noticed the other day when i had it apart that i had split one of the arms where the hinge pin had gone through and my flux is only 4 months old. Before that ive only ever done the same thing once in about 7 years of owning savages. I would buy the rpm ones, ive heard that they are indestructable and they have a lifetime warranty on them but they are not compatable with the HPI sway bar kit. Looks as though i might have to stay with the stockies and just replace them when they break

RE: Money no object Savage tuning
ORIGINAL: Sublime865 Okay so Here is my question of the day. I have about 2 grand into my Savage X SS with the stock 4.6 still kicking. What engine should I replace it with, the K5.9 by HPI, or is there something better performance out there. I need reliable, which is why I am inclined to stick with HPI for the motor, however if anyone out there has had good experiences with something else propelling their Savage to light speed (okay not faster top but faster get-there), I'm all ears. I'm not looking for inexpensive. I've come this far I'm going to get *the* best motor. While I would obviously prefer not to buy the moon I'm not going to give my baby a junky motor just because I was feeling cheap. Any info appreciated, specs even more so.
As far as im concerned if you want a driveable power house that will outperform any other engine in reliability, smoothness, torque, power. U cant go past the novarossi 28 range, they are by far the best quality engines on the market and matched with the correct pipe they will not disapoint. Ive seen modified 28's and they do perform but most of them dont have the drivabilty that the novas do, most of them are just to snappy and when ever you get on the throttle is either on or off and more than likely it will flip really easily. Im not saying that supertib's engines are this way, but if you want quality go with the novarossi and thats speaking from experience. Ive had three nova 28's and i would not buy any other and yes they would eat the HPI 5.9 for breakfast. That engine is just to big to really perform. You can buy them from amainhobbies http://www.amainhobbies.com/advanced_search_result.php?n=RC-Cars-Trucks-Engines-Accessories-23-Engines&filter_cat=79&keywords=novarossi
ORIGINAL: RazurBlackz STURB25, How do like that sway bar kit?? Does it help much?? RB
Yeah it works pretty well, noticeable but if you want a drastic change ive found with the sway bars, stiffer springs, a heavy weight oil and lowering it just slightly improves handleing and it is impossible to roll and i mean impossible. It totally changes the truck so so much.

RE: ESP Or OBR full mod?
ORIGINAL: splcrazy hey if you know how to put an engine together and have the right tools to do it , you can save yourself a heap of money and all you will need to buy is a top end and a new stuffed +2mm crank you can get a head thats been machined just like the mod that ESP does , then all you gotta do is port it yourself. the esp copy cylinder head is $60 and its cut for the +2mm allowance so just use stock 020 gasket . the guy that makes them is from here in melb , im currently running that cylinderhead in my baja5b and yeah i also have the true esp mod head cylinder and they both perform the same , dont think ill ever spend $129 and over for a esp head again when you can get the same thing without the name for $60 . the website is called www.predatorrc.com.au cylinder head is here http://www.predatorrc.com.au/cylinder-305cc-machined-engine-p-925.html
Thanks for the info

I bought a new hitec 7980 mega torque servo for my flux, i bought it cause it was the most powerful servo that hitec makes producing 36kg at 6.0volts and 44kg at 7.4volts. RE: Corrosion inside crankcase
The front bearing is only sealed from the outside, leaving a nitro engine for so long requires all the fuel left in the engine to be totally cleaned out before storage otherwise the fuel is prone to atracting moisture from the air and therefore intern rusting your bearings and crankshaft. Personally i would use a 1200 wet and dry sand paper to re-polish the crankshaft. As for the block i would soak it in mineral turps for about 10mins pull it out and dry it completely then oil the bearings, if it doesnt work repeat a couple of times making sure the engine is completely dry from turps before you oil. Use your afterun oil to oil the bearings. Its happened to me before and thats what i did just dont leave your block in the turps for to long. Also the turps will clean out any of the left over gummed up fuel that is in your engine.
ORIGINAL: llkoolskillet Ive had my LRP 30 broken down for about a year now waiting to put the new piston/sleeve kit in. Well i unwrapped it and found traces of corrosion inside the crank case and the rear bearing sounds like theres a tiny bit of sand in it, the front is sealed so its good. One suggestion i was given was to soak the parts in fuel for a few days then thourghly clean them. Would this really work? I really dont want to remove the front and rear bearings if i have to. I can lightly sand the crankshaft with 600 grit so i should be ok. The crank case is different cause of the nooks and crannys. Does anyone have any suggestions
