RE: Twin Turbine Jets, loosing 1 turbine
sad to hear :( su27's are my fav jet love em whats your fav to fly between the f4, f14 and su27? do they all fly differant?
ORIGINAL: sleepless.ch Don't worry: it's not witchcraft. The only reason for twin engine of full scale aircraft is the safety in case of a dead stick of one engine. In case of a flame out from one engine fly, go around and landing is sometime a little different but not realy problematic. The most failure is to lose one's nerve. For exercice to fly with one engine, program with a switch one turbine to idle. If you accelerate the Jet, only one engine speed up. The other one stay on idle. You will see, there is no bad surprise. It must be pointed out that transmitters don't have warning systems in case of dead stick. A flame out of one engine is not allways to hear directly (Last of april i lost my grey Su 27, because i flew on the stall range and detected the flame out to late). By the way: i have twin engine experience since 1993 and many flights (SU 27, F-4 Phantom and F-14 Tomcat).
RE: WHY GO EDF IF YOU HAVE TURBINES?
the best option is Habu 32 with a p20 ;)
ORIGINAL: Ruizmilton
ORIGINAL: dubd
ORIGINAL: Ron101 Everyone should have a Habu 32 and a stack of 6s 5000mah packs... it's just to much fun to fly over and over [&:]
While I agree with the sentiment, I can't agree about the Habu 32. I nearly fell asleep with mine (stock set-up), so I sold it. I was then talked into building a 12s version, which I did... and once again I needed a nap during the flight and sold the plane. [:D]
I agree on the 32, but my case was with a hot 6s set-up. I get angry when I read threads like this because even though EDF's are no match to turbines, there will always be the discussion that EDF's are better, in my opinion, sorry, will all due respect, they will NEVER be. For the record, I do like EDF's and have been flying them since the beginning. Are they simple...yes, are they convenient...yes, are they more economical than a turbine...yes, up to maybe 90mm Personally, the satisfaction I got from a 120mm HP set-up is not that far from what I got from a hot 70mm set-up, actually the 70mm I liked better, so why spend the big bucks?? get yourself a turbine engine aircraft, yet if your field bans turbines, get the biggest EDF you can get. Hardcore EDF flyers need to accept the fact that EDF's and turbines generate thrust differently, therefore the performance behavior and "punch" of a turbine will never be equaled, even when comparing to EDF's that produce more thrust than a given turbine. Main reason being the difference between static and dynamic thrust, a turbine will have the advantage on dynamic thrust. Second, EDF's are gliders 50% of the time, so no, there is no match, If I want a glider, I will buy a glider... I personally set-up my EDF's with an idle and slow spool-up/down as if they were turbines, call me crazy, but yes I do that...
RE: Jetcat P20 SE - what airframe?
ive just finished building my p20 Habu32 i think its a great option for the p20 otherwise a JTM model or eflight f4 could be worth looking at i really dont see the point of spending so much cash on a high quality turbine and sticking it in to a hobbyking jet

RE: E Flight HABU 32- P-20SE Build thread+Videos*
Hi all great thread I just found it then :) I have just finished building my habu 32 with the p20se Jetcat. I notice that people are balancing the Jet at 115mm with fuel in the hopper and about 110 with a full tank. when my hopper is full my pane is balancing at around 120mm+ it feels tail heavy, what does every one recomend does it sound like i need more weight in the front? out of interest what is everyone finding there approx flight time per tank and is every one landing with almost an empty tank?

RE: Elan Has Arrived!
i think the hole point is the Jet shouldnt of had these issues in the first place, its abit scary i must say to read this. does any one know what the newer jet ledgend jets are like?
ORIGINAL: stuart_80 Quote - As the Elan looks like a sexy plane don't be fooled by it. The defects that this kit offers for the dollar is a joke and consumers need to be aware be prepare to cut drill grind glue and fix defects , Quick to cut you down for bad mouthing this plane WILL BE QUICK TO DEFFEND THE SUPPLIER WHICH CLEARLY DON'T TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILTY FOR A KIT IF IT IS DEFECTIVE BUT MAKE SURGUESTIONS WHICH DON;T WORK and only hope you cut into it so they can wave off warranty I don't really agree with your statement there, since earlier in this thread (or the other Elan one...can't remember) there was a guy who bought an Elan kit (white scheme) where one of the booms was massively out of alignment. The supplier of the kit sorted him out pretty quickly, I think he was pretty satisfied, so I can't really justify your attack on Boomerang Jets. Certainly in the UK, Colin G at Boomerang jets has been very helpful with any queries I've had Stuart
RE: Whats a good first turbine jet?
choosing a first turbine jet is worth conversing and trading ideas over I am in the process of building a Habu32 turbine with the tamjets Kit, the turbine is the most expensive part but you can fit it in almost any 80mm - 90mm model
