RE: My tc3 project :)
Let me get this straight. You burnt up a traxxas velinion motor so your next thought was to install a Neu motor on 12s with an HV heli ESC on a 1/10 touring car? And you don't even know where to source gears or know what kind of tires will hold up to 100mph+? Talk about running before you can walk...

RE: NEW!!! Official Traxxas XO-1 1/7 onroad....
Your best bet for tires in the foreseeable future is going to be either: a. GRP 1/8 GT tires (which have been proven to work very well for the buggies) with jacked up suspension on the XO-1 b. Having BSR make some cap tires for you using the stock Traxxas rims. Since this is such a niche product, I doubt any of the usual Traxxas 3rd party vendors will be designing tires for it. Jaco makes foams for the Rustlers and such because it is a VERY popular car with an obvious need for better tires than the stock Anaconda garbage tires. I doubt Jaco would even turn an appreciable profit by R&D'ing a line of foam tires specifically for the XO-1. And you can forget pro-line as they don't have any experience with producing high speed rated tires. Also @ TheShark, I would really love to see your HPI F1 do 100mph without issues. I'd buy one if it could reliably handle the speed for the sheer novelty of it being an F1 car [:D]

Most of the points JANG touched upon in this vid are spot on. I for one think it is the single most innovative R/C Traxxas has released to date, including the TQ-i Tx. The one point I have to disagree with is his aversion to the inclusion of an app-based interface for the iOS devices. I've been talking about this kind of integration being the next step with regard to R/C radio innovation. I currently use a 3pks which I've had for years now, but simply have no reason to upgrade to the 4pks/M11x/EX10 Eurus/Etc. iPhone or Android or what have you integration would be a HUGE selling point for me as I'm sure it would be for many others in a HIGH END radio system. Obviously this TQi is Traxxas' attempt in the midrange radio market at ~$200 for the set alone, but quite frankly the radio has never been Traxxas' strong suit by any means. Regardless, smartphone/ music player integration is the next big thing IMO. Also, that MMM/1717 with the stock gearing must make for one hell of a parking lot basher. That 1717 can handle 8s lipo without issue. The fact that this car can do 100 with that motor on a mere 6s is phenomenal, and leaves room open for either higher KV motor or even HV setups if one were so inclined.

RE: NEW!!! Official Traxxas XO-1 1/7 onroad....
ORIGINAL: 378
ORIGINAL: MiamizFinest Not to mention android wouldn't have worked, how many android phones are out there?? how many shapes and sizes are there?? it would have bin IMPOSSIBLE to make a radio with a tray to hold them all, where as apple took a standard size approach.
And I suppose the batteries used by RCs are perfectly standardized in size and shape, right? I don't buy that as an excuse. Electric RCs have had to have battery trays supporting many shape/size batteries for decades. There is NO REASON WHATSOEVER to not make a phone tray that can accept phones of differing shapes as well, except Apple money.
It's not about money from Apple, it's about what's practical. Plus do you REALLY think Apple is paying Traxxas to make this compatible with their iOS devices? Doubtful. The largest issue with Android is the fragmentation across devices with the so-called "open" platform. There is no guarantee that because it will work on phone X that it will work with phones Y and Z because the software are hardware variants are controlled by several manufactures and in some instances the wireless providers themselves. Apple is a single entity and they have complete control over their OS and their hardware. This is both a pain in the ass for some and a blessing. For the sake of compatibility on a given product it becomes much much easier to support and ensure a fully functional and fluid experience. Regardless, I do plan on buying one eventually. It gets rid of most of the shortcomings of the 1/8th scale buggies and GT type cars we've been using for 100mph+ runs in a good-looking and functional layout. ONLY gripe is the included lipos and radio. Why include lipos (sub par lipos at that) at all if it's not going to include a charger as well? Other than that, Traxxas hit a home run in my book with this car. If you're complaining about the price, don't buy it! There's a reason they went with such a large car, and with the larger size electrics comes a higher price. @ SyCo_VeNoM : The foam bumper is so the body retains its shape at high speed. We often use oversized foam bumpers contoured to the body/hood on the 1/10 and 1/8 cars to prevent it from caving in at speed. Cheers

RE: Project: Team Kassanova Tc10
While I do like what you are trying to accomplish here by having a perfectly balanced car, you do have to take into account that on shaft drive cars there is torque steer which will bias your car's steering to one side. This is why most shaft drive touring cars have the motor down the right side of the chassis and the majority of the weight on the left side with the battery [;)]

Mr. Mugen is right, i had the same issues when i ran a fan on mine and have since then added a bec. It is more likely to occur if you are running a higher voltage (3s or more) since the linear bec generates more heat.
