LOL well that is good to know. Yeah my stepdads savage hasn't been drivin in about 2 weeks because they wouldn't help us and we aren't sure how to tune it and it sounds horrible. We don't want to ruin the engine so it has just sat [:o]

Yeah I was more than pleased with the outcome. My grandpa was a machinist and has taught me well [:D] He always told me there is no sense in buying a new part unless you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO!!! I HIGHLY doubt that "hinge pin" we put in will EVER break [:D][:D][:D] LOL

RE: I'm starting to get iffy with this hobby...
Well the track is the closest one to me and it is an hour away. All the other tracks here are upwards of 1 1/2 hours away. I'd love to build my own track, but no room [:(] There was a track down the street from me but it closed [:(] The hobby shop is still there though. That is the closest one with out going an hour away! They're always rude to me like the owner tells me how my buggy is old and crap and I need to spend $$$$$ on an XRAY kit or $$$$$$ on a Mugen kit...he doesn't understand (even though I have told him numerous times) that I am 17 and don't have that kind of money...I am DANG lucky to have what I have. Then one time, there was one person in the shop other than me. there were 3 guys working. One guy was helping the people, another was watching and the third was sitting in a chair doing nothing. They told me they were too busy to help me tune my buggy. I asked if I could just fire it up and them listen to it and tell me how it needs to be tuned. He told me that he, and the guy working on the car was busy. He asked the other guy if he could help me and he said no because he was waiting on someone to get to the hobby shop. They were too busy....to LISTEN to my buggy...???? [sm=48_48.gif][X(]
ORIGINAL: FieroMan121 well to add to my other comments i forgot to mention, nobody does good projects anymore, the only ones i see are vintage restorations and a few hard core moders who dont do anything but. and most people who do ''projects'' just slap some pretty peices on their rusty and call it a day. are ppl intimidated by tools and new things or are they just lazy? take some inititive people!!!
Man I guess this is just some people. Me and a friend of mine were out at his lake house in the middle of no where without a single hobby shop around. We were driving a savage and a buggy. The front aluminum hinge pin carrier snapped and the hinge pin broke in half. 2 hours later....WE WERE DRIVING IT AGAIN!!! How?! We found some scrap aluminum and went to it with a saw and some grinders. We used one of the NON-broken carriers as a template, and we machined our own!!!!!! It is twice as strong!!! Then we went to the local hardware store and found a drill bit that was the same diameter as the hinge pins. We sanded the edges off of it and VOILA!!!! We had a new hinge pin, and a new carrier and was driving again!!!

I'm starting to get iffy with this hobby...
:confused:Well, I have a nitro 1/8 buggy. All I could afford was an old Ultra Comp buggy...not competitive at all...but could still race if I wanted. Well, I decided that nitro isn't for me...I want to go back to electric sooo I am trading my buggy for 2 Losi XXX-T's and an XXX-NT for parts. I figured, hey, one truck will be my girlfriends and the other I will make into an XXX-SCT so I can bash AND race in Mod 2WD SCT class... ...WRONG... I called the hobby shop and they said they only race 1/8 nitro buggy, 1/8 electric buggy, 4x4 SCT, and sometimes truggy. SOOOOO now I can't race unless I race with 4x4 SCT (they said they'd let me do that). Well from what I read, even with brushless, there is probably no chance in hell that I would place with the 4x4 SCT's. What do y'all think?? Between this problem, and the fact that no one at the only other hobby shop will ever help me and they're alway d**** to me...I'm starting to get irritated with this hobby... ...rant over LOL

OFNA Ultra LX Comp->ELECTRIC!!!
I am looking to MAYBE convert my Ofna Ultra LX Comp to electric. This is what I'm looking at: BL motor/ESC/conversion kit http://www.teamnovak.com/products/brushless/hv_conversion_combo/index.html LIPO Batteries (2x) http://www.nitrorcx.com/83p-3300mah-2s1p-74-20c-car.html LIPO Chargers (2x) http://www.nitrorcx.com/thac6smlibac.html Now I have some questions: 1.) I notice in the diagram of the conversion kit for the Ultra LX Comp (the same one as the Ofna 9.5) it has 2 battery trays on the buggy. Could I run only one battery like in some of the other buggy diagrams? 2.) If I can run with only 1 battery, how much run time (approximately) would I get with the above listed batteries? 3.) About how fast would I be running? 4.) What is a GOOD, unpainted body that will fit the OFNA Ultra LX Comp? Thanks in advance, Rob

RE: Kit Building
ORIGINAL: plasmaedge Also if theres any slop in your output cups for your dogbones and centre shaft (im not sure if it has 1) you can use either rubber o-rings from shocks and place them in the cup or you can put foum in there and it will eliminate any kind of slop.
huh? this part was like german to me

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
Hey everybody!!! I am getting a Slash soon!!! I have a question. I have somewhat of a Rustler (no chassis) only a burnt up speed control, a stock motor, an rx, the whole front end and the whole rear end and all the suspension components along with a servo. What all parts on the Rustler will fit on the Slash? I need to know what to take off and keep as replacement parts [:D]

For a basher that would run maybe an hour a few evenings outa the week, and a few hours every evening on the weekends, and every now and then go to the track, how much do you think I'd be spending on fuel?

I want to know your opinion!!!
Before I ask this question, Lets not turn this into a nitro vs. electric thread!!! I have an Ofna Ultra LX Comp with a ton of extra spare parts. I am 17 right now I turn 18 at the end of this year. I would like to get me a 1:1 truck at the end of this year and I need to save money!! I am worried about the costs of nitro, so my question is: Should I keep my buggy and hope it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg -OR- Should I sell my buggy, and get a slash. I have 2 chargers and a battery, and the slash would come with one more battery. So what is you guys opinion? To be able to run electric all day without really having to stop much like nitro, how many batteries/chargers do you think is the least you should have? Thanks in advance
