puffed lipo battery to use or not
I have seen other pilots use a puffed lipo , and I never had one until yesterday flying and landing, I noticed a slight puff near the end opposite of the connector on a 3S 2200 Lipo 25 amp battery. so when I checked the voltage surprisingly it was up to 3.6 volts per cell , so if it didnt get down to 3.2 volts, is it still ok to charge and use?

I have a esc that came with instuctions on how to program it by the beeps it makes , it can be set for nmhi batteris or lipos or nicads, I just flew my plane ,and within a few minutes it went dead stick and I lost all control ,right into some trees , now if I didnt set it or progeam it would it have shut down sooner with out giveing me any servo control to land it?

why do I get a clicking or chattering noise on some of my electric set ups like with a 450 size motor with 3cells lipos and a 30 amp esc, . the noise goes away at different rpm levels , what causes it?

THOSE 3bladed nylon props
I went into motor calc and it didn't make that much of a change at 15 AMPS using a 950 kv motor and 3S 2200 Lipo battery with a 30 amp ESC. how ever a static run on the bench and the ESC was kinda warm to the touch , the battery was cool to light warm with a flexible Grish gray 3 bladed nylon prop 10 x6 , I had an APC 10x6 C2 for glow engines and that prop was extremely heavy and did not flex, so I wanted to try this 3 bladed 10x 6, what I wanted o know is how hot does a 30 amp esc drawing 15-18 amps get when doing a static test or pre crash test? .?
ORIGINAL: jbdismukes Sounds like the latter; non-electric.  You could use it. but it would put an undue strain on your motor.
i say your ight , any additional weight is going to effect duration and performance

concered about a APC prop ,is it for electric?
I'm concerned about a APC prop I purchased that is stamped 10X5 and 254X 127 on the opposite side of the hub C 2 ,I have a PT19 Eflight Electric plane , and I have always used a thinner lighter type electric prop how ever this particular APC prop seems very heavy and stiff, my question is this prop for Electric motors for RC airplanes or for Glow engines in RC airplanes

RE: new pt19 went down
ORIGINAL: blvdbuzzard It has a 2 amp BEC so it powers the radio gear with just 2 amps. Did the prop stop turning? If so, how long did you fly around? What size servos are you using? Post crash tests are to make sure everything is still working. Charge the batteries, check servos, Rx and so on. Buzz.
Thanks , in the future , with a new plane, I'm going to let it run on a bench or the ground , until the battery is fully depleted where the Bec take s over to let it still function to land it , then Ill stop it and measure the safe battery voltage , that seems like a good idea, correct me if I'M wrong, thanks , I should have done this with my new plane ?

Those heavy APC electric props or not
I notice that on my pt 19 a 10x5 E electric prop is very heavy which in my opinion is going to be more pull on the brush less 450 or 480 motors , and thats more amps and less duration for flight time, so if I am Wrong please correct me how ever I believe that a lighter prop in weight that flexes more will not only give you more flight time but also there is a less chance of bending your prop shaft on a nose down soft landing. whats your opinion on this?

I notice they dont tell you if you should use the fron part of the coroplastic hatch to protect the battery on ladings, some are covered and some not , which is proper , i thought of the cooling also The instructions call out a demension of 8.5/8 in front of the nose . in other peoples photos , I see that thaey use the hatch as a CG point , which is 8 . inches from the nose , does anyone know from exsperience which is the proper CG gor the wild wing? [image]http://www.bowns.net/Projects/2008-10-26%20RC%20Wild%20Wing%20Build/Pictures/OrigWildWing.jpg[/image]

will this ESC let your plane land
I saw this ESC for sale, if you read the last line it claims it will shut off so you cant even lad the plane with controls Got an old brushed motor laying around and want to put it to good use? The Turnigy brushed ESC is an excellent speed controller with a linear throttle curve, Lipoly/NiMh ready and programmable braking. Features: The break function can be turn on/off by the jumper Battery type can be chosen by a jumper For Lipo the threshold for each cell is 3.0v, less than the threshold ESC will gradually reduce the output power PWM frequency is 2KHz Over heat protection over 110C Throttle signal loss for 1sec will gradually reduce the output power, after 2sec completely cut-off Spec. Cont Current: 30A Burst Current: 40A BEC Mode: 5v/1A Lipo Cells: 2-3 NiMH : 4-10 Weight: 21g Size: 45x21x8mm
ORIGINAL: Brad330l I have a couple of warbirds now and the way I set them up I need no or very little extra/dead weight up front. It can be done. With my Yellow Aircraft Spitfire I had to move the battery packs back six inches to get the proper CG. My ESM 109 has very minimal lead up front as I totally redesigned how all the gear was placed in the model. This is with a full cockpit and a full pilot. Must get weight forward!!![:)][;)] Good luck, Brad
thank you, now when I get my CG right, I noticed the vertcal tail fin on a spitfire seems very small,so to gain more stability would it be a good ideal to make the tail fin a bit larger?
