RE: Sherman Hull
It's nice to see a Ford M4A3 enter the mix! Most of those were kept in the USA for training but after the Normandy invasion many were shipped to both the PTO and ETO to make up for the heavy losses. I believe they are the most common ones running around America now.

RE: Chrysler Multibank in Sherman
You only had to tune one 6cyl at a time. [:D] Frequently one of the banks was shot out or had a rod and piston sticking through the block! [:D] Let's not forget, most of them went to our Allies anyway! [:-] We kept the Fords and most of the Continentals for ourselves. Though they did get the twin diesels which were nice! Our REMFs thought it would be too hard to resupply the troops with two fuel types but they did anyway and our Allies got the A2s! Hey Dan, you gonna lengthen that hull to make it an A4? [8D]

RE: New Sherman trax
The T-49 3-Bar Cleat Track was used on plenty of American Shermans and its variants in just about all theaters. It had the best grip of them all and was used by many of the tank recovery vehicles. If memory serves the track was purposely designed for their use. With the duckbills on either track (T48 rubber block chevron too) the VVSS shermans shouldn't be too outclassed in scale manueverability compared to a HVSS Sherman.

RE: Problem with my new Mato Sherman
Before openining it up, check to make sure the battery is fully charged and the crystals are seated properly, they can cause problems like you're experiencing. There's a lot of things it could be, you're going to have to open it up by first separating the upper hull from the lower. Use the search feature for photos. Once opened up, take some pics for us so we can see what's going on. Some of the early production tanks had the antenna wire getting crushed.

RE: updated pics Pershing Question
Note that the footman loops are not equally placed on both sides of the Pershing from the factory. There are more on the right side than the left. Squadron Signal publications has an excellent book on the Pershing with lots of period and postwar photos and good historical infomation. Osprey's New Vanguard series provides even more information including the various versions and good technical information. The best of course is the book Pershing by the late Dick Hunnicutt. This forum has lots of great photos and information that can be found on our past builds dating back to 2006. The most data you'll find will probably be from 2006-2008.

RE: Alpine German Tanks ?
Try looking through the pics at www.tiif.de These Tigers look like the early production runs with the solid RAL 7028 paint and too clean to have seen any combat yet. Maybe February-May production but I didn't look that closely at the pics.

RE: Tamiya Super Pershing
Looks like they re-introduced the old kit with a new gun tube, tracks and gun shield. The E4s did not have a combat record. The E1 "super pershing" that saw combat in Europe was the first pershing prototype.

RE: What is PM???
ORIGINAL: thecommander What do you do for your gearboxes?
All the Heng Long and Asiatam gearboxes are disassembled, cleaned, re-assembled with washers/shims if needed (usually are!) and broken in again during each overhaul. Then the motors are RPM tested free and under load. Then I test the rpms of each gearbox too to make sure they're as close as possible (within a few rpms of each other) and if not keep breaking in the offending gearbox until it spins the way I want it too. I use white lithium grease to lube the boxes and semi seal them with custom made covers that are RTV'd over the tops once they are screwed down inside the tank. Have never had a failure with a metal gearbox by following this PM routine.

RE: What is PM???
Nice pics! I had over twenty 7.2v batteries in inventory of various sizes and was pretty good about cycling them until about a year or so ago. I've spent the last two weeks re-conditioning them and most have come back to life but some have not. Some of the ones that take great charges don't last as long as they used to. Regular PMs are essential! However, Most of the batteries were purchased in 2006 with a few stragglers after that. How long do your batteries last? My good ones are Venom 3600 and 4200 sticks. Surprisingly I have a couple of old Heng Long 2000mah and Mato Mart 2000mah that are still just fine too.

RE: HL Pershing Gun Length, Correct Scale?
Try it again but look at posts from 2006 first, either way if you add 32-33mm to the gun tube you'll be fine.

RE: New guy with a couple of questions
Don't fool around with Raidentech. Buy from a vendor who specializes in RC Tanks like Phil from RCTankWars or Mato Mart. There are several companies that sell IR Battle systems that you can pretty easily retrofit to your Heng Long tanks to battle with.

RE: Tail lights
The Heng Long Tiger has the light molded into the rear plate on both sides. This is not accurate. I removed the one on the right and gutted the center of the one on the left and installed 3 small blue LEDs wired to the smoker. When the smoker is on so is the convoy light.

RE: Torque for a tank?
Do you intend to run this type of motor through the stock gearboxes and or electronics? If so you will not get the desired results. Let the gearbox provide the torque so as not to heat up the motors and electronics. Experimentation is encourage to advance the hobby, however many of us have been down this path before and posted our findings laboriously in several posts dating back about 3-4 years. I'm finishing up a current round of tests for a fellow tanker and should have the results made public in the near future.

Your radio may need adjusting but more likely your board is partially fried. It could be a bad connection though too. Have to open it up for a looksee.
