RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
No. I had to plug the existing holes with a wood dowel and re-drill the holes. No big deal. You can use the buttons and bolt the engine directly. I believe the kit comes with firewall spacers to set the proper length. There is a previous response where someone discusss this mounting option.

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
Prop Drive Adapter I am using a 3" Tru Turn FAI spinner. The Himax shaft is 6mm but only extend approx. 3/16" into the prop when using the TT light back plate. The supplied Himax prop bolt and washer does not have enough thread length to engage the motor shaft. I made up a prop bolt with 5mm shaft end threads and #10-32 spinner end threads to interface with the Tru Turn spinner. I use JB weld epoxy to join the nut with the extension and 5mm shaft bolt. Also I only had to velcro the Pheonix ICE V2 80 ESC to the bottom floor plate. I did use a tie to make sure it does not come off.

Himax 6330-210 motor installation I decided to use a Himax 6330-210 motor. As it turns out, the firewall blind nuts did not match the Himax mount. No big deal. I simply epoxyed in wood dowels and recentered the motor. I did add cooling holes to the firewall. So far at 93F outside temperature, the max motor temperature has been 116F and battery temp of 118F.

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
I installed the gator wing adjusters on the back side. I used 1/64" indreasing drill bits until I drilled out the wing CF locator pins. Then I used 1/4" wood dowl to replace the CF pins. I stepped down the end of the wood dowl 1/8" until the Gator wing adjuster socket fit snuggly on the wood dowl. Need to make sure the socket is straight with the wood dowl. Then mix up some 30 mon epoxy and milled fiber glass and insert the dowl with the end of the adjuster socket flush with the wing root cap. I was able to elongate he Gator mounting holes to match the EF adjuster hold down screw locations. Then I set the canopy at 0-0 deg, the rear stabs at 0-0 deg and the wings at 0.6 deg positive. I left the EF front adjusters stock, although I had to open up the slots to match the screw thread locations.

Flyer88, What was the TT prop adapter number? Did the spinner back plate come with a 10mm hole? I plan to use one on a Himax 6330-210 motor. Thanks - swk550

JR XG11 SD card
I am planning on purchasing a JR XG11 radio. I currently have a 11X transmitter with a SD card to store extra models. Can I use the 11X SD card in the new XG11 radio?

RE: New 6, 8, and 11 ch. JR radios announced - DMSS technology
have the JR 11X with all DSMX Rx's. I dearly love this radio. I don't know why, but I have an itch to purchase the XG11. I have two questions: 1) Can I use the transfer function to load my 11X models in the XG11? 2) Does JR have any plans to come out with a DMSS power safe Rx's similar to the R1222X?

RE: OS 33cc gas engine
I have two of the OS GT33 engines. I have always started them by hand. Mine have not needed a starter. The trick is to flip the prop from mid way between cylinder compression. This way the prop is moving past the hall sensor with sufficient RPM.

RE: Anyone making their own servo connectors?
I probably will only make 10 to 15 servo extensions a year. I see Hansen has both the basic and the delux crimpers. Radical RC only has the basic crimpers. Is there any advantage in the delux crimpers if you don't make many connectors each year?

RE: DLE 30 Fuel System Question - Again
I had a similar problem with a new PTE engine. It turns out the induction reeds were not sealing on the intake reed cage. I ended up lapping the reed cage and reinstalled the reeds. Now the engine runs and starts as it should.

RE: New OS 33cc Gasser..any reports yet?
I have owned and have flown the PTE36R, OS GT33 and the Mintor 38 with standard mufflers. I have also flown the same OS GT33 and Mintor 38 with the ES30G CF tuned pipe. By far the OS GT33 can handle props APC 17-12, 18.1-10W, XOAR 19-8 wood, XOAR 18-10 Swoad and the Biela 19-10 with good performance and vertical. The PTE36R was only flown with standard stock muffler. It has good (not as good as the OS) performance with the XOAR 19-8 wood and the XOAR 18-10 Swoard. I'm sure the PTE will get stronger with more run time. The Mintor only had decent performance with the XOAR 19-8 prop. My conclusion so far is that the OS is a very powerful engine with higher compression. Its bore, stroke and porting seem ideal when used with either the OS muffler or the ES30G CF tuned pipe. I have taken various RPM readings. They don't mean much to me as I judge performance by throttle response and vertical performance.

RE: New OS 33cc Gasser..any reports yet?
I've got the OS GT33 engine, ES30G CF pipe and a home made Hyde clone isolator mount (similar to MTK's) on my EF 78" Extra. Mine is somewhat heavy at 13#. Awsome power. Tons of vertical. I'm now using the Biela 19-10 prop. I couldn't be happier. The OS tends to want to start backwards until you get the technique down. The engine has gobs of compression. The Mintor 38 did not want to swing this prop. I've had no problem hand starting the engine in 55F temperatures. I just need to make sure I get a good prime on it.

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?
I finally got my PTE36R engine to run. New in the box it wouldn't start. I reset the timing to 28 degree BTC. Only an occasional pop. I sent the engine back. They found one of the carbon fiber reeds was not sealing. They test ran the engine and sent it back. When I received the engine, it still would only pop but not start. I took the reed cage out and found casting flashing around the reed sealing ports. I deburred the ports and sanded the sealing surfaces with 1000 grit paper. The timing was off, around 40 degree BTC. I reset it to 28 degree. Now the engine primes easy. The HS and LS were off slightly and had to be set slightly richer than recommended settings. The initial reading is 7400 RPM with a XOAR 18-10 swoard prop with stock mufflers. I am using a home made Hyde type isolator mount. It has a reliable idle at 2200 RPM. Throttle transition is good. I had four flights on the engine. It ran very reliably. I hope to get a rear exhaust header and use my ES40G tuned pipe next. I have a OS GT33 engine with a ES30G tuned pipe on my EF 78" Extra. This is a real power house set up. The OS GT33 has much more compression. It does want to start backwords with the stock OS ignition module. I'd like to get some comparrison data after the PTE get broken in. Below is a picture of the OS engine isolator mount.

RE: OS GT33 33cc gasser
I recently ran my OS GT33 for the first time. I am using a home made isolator mount. It can idle around 1800 RPM but my mount shakes too much. I get a good reliable idle at 2300 RPM. I tested two props on the standard muffler. I got 7800 RPM with my 17-12 pattern prop. I am getting 7200 RPM with a Xoar 18-10 swoard. I too had to start at 1/4 throttle to keep it from running backwards. The engine is very easy to start. Attached are some photos of my set-up.

RE: DLE plug question
A few years ago, I bought a box of the CM6 spark plugs from Napa Auto Parts. As I recall there were 12 plugs to the box. Since I had to order them and wait a few days, the store sold them to me at a bulk price of around $3 each. I don't know what the current price is for these plugs, but it's worth a try to see if your local store will give you a bulk deal.

RE: ES Composites pipe and heat
You don't have to make a pipe tunner. I use Depron 1/4" foam and install a pipe floor. Try to get at least 1/8" space between the pipe and the Depron. I do install a cooling air exit bulkhead after the pipe exits the fuse. I don't want to pressure up the fuse.

RE: Wild Hare Edge wings get stuck on tube
I had a 35% SD/TOC Extra 260. I had to replace the wing tube. The replacement tube was too tight. I bought a cheap brake cylinder hone (O'Reilly or Harbor Freight). I carefully ran it up and down the wing tube socket until I had no interference spots. You will need to blow out the fiberglass dust regularly when honing. The hone shoes did build up a fiberglass glaze. This was simple to remove. I checked the hone after each hone try. Good luck.
