RE: "OFFICIAL" Redcat Racing 1/8th BUGGY thread (not truck thread)
Thanks 8. My LHS is 90 miles away and don't have alot of car supplies. In fact, I'm runnin' plane fuel. Seems to work OK.

RE: "OFFICIAL" Redcat Racing 1/8th BUGGY thread (not truck thread)
Can anyone tell me if the Redcat 1/8 buggy has a set screw on the center diff? My himoto has one. What's it for?

RE: "OFFICIAL" Redcat Racing 1/8th BUGGY thread (not truck thread)
I've had my eye on Crescent City's skate park and BMX track for a month. Once the rain drys, I'm given both a try. The local paper writes up the weekly busts the police make when the cops bust bikes using the skate park. I'm lookin' forward to bein' in the paper! No on uses the bike track so I'll be OK on its massive jumps and berms. Will my OS 21 pipe help my Infinity 21, or are pipes model specific? Thanks.

The speeds would be about right if they were KMH instead of MPH.

RE: "OFFICIAL" Redcat Racing 1/8th BUGGY thread (not truck thread)
My 1/8 buggy has a set screw that seems to adjust the slip between front and rear. What is the center unit called? How should it be set?

RE: OFFICIAL Redcat Racing TRUCK thread
What is the difference between a center diff and a slipper clutch? Is the centrifugal clutch running off the crank a slipper clutch? Thanks.

I got the 1/8 buggy and the 1/8 truck. The truck center diff is locked up front to rear with no adjustment. The buggy has a set screw that allows me to choose between locked up and slippin between front and rear. Can anyone tell me about this? Name for center diff locked up without adjustment? Name for center diff with adustment screw? Slipper vs. ?

RE: OFFICIAL Redcat Racing TRUCK thread
Think HIMOTO! Or Exportpro International Limited. They're lookin for wholesalers. Redcat can only benefit from competition. On the track alone is never fun for long. Ya only think yer winnin. Competition pushes improvement. Enough philosophy.

RE: OFFICIAL Redcat Racing TRUCK thread
Thanks for responding trpastor. You are absolutely correct. But, I think the manufacturer knew the 1/10 trucks were substandard when they sold them. Redcat made a mistake buying those models. I will continue to follow this saga to see how it turns out. !/8 truck, 27 motor, FM radio: 1/8 buggy, 21 motor, AM radio: VERY happy!

RE: OFFICIAL Redcat Racing TRUCK thread
Dude!? R U mistaken, or WHAT!? Ya think Himoto is shippin' redcats to China for resale in the US??! Redcat gets 'em from Himoto, or the same place as Himoto does in China. Himoto will be sellin em around the world long after redcat gives up on you guys. I haven't had a single problem with any of the Himotos I've bought on e*ay. But I also thought the 1/10 truck looked weak in the e*ay pictures and haven't tested one, YET! Right now, sounds like the Redcat guys are competing for your after xmas crash dollars. They seem to be runnin' their business as if it were Amway!

RE: OFFICIAL Redcat Racing TRUCK thread
This is too funny! I canabilized the nut off a mugen I bought on e*ay as a replacement for the one I lost! I'm gonna do a check tonight to make sure everything is snug. I'd like to hear more about dealership. What kind of investment is needed, etc. I'm around this weekend and will get back to you. Thanks for the tip on the break in. Regarding racing, I'd love to dirt oval. Closest track to me was in Oregon, but it closed before I could get there to see it. I'll have to set up my own. Any tips on setting up a track? A scale, 1/4 mile oval would be cool. Bret

RE: OFFICIAL Redcat Racing TRUCK thread
Sorry Scott, I've read so much negative stuff that I jumped the gun and should have been more thoughtful before writing. This is my return to RC after not having a car for 12 years. Does this sound OK for a break in? After a couple tanks of 1 - 2 minute very slow runs, I just ran the first full tank through with a couple burps from mid to full throttle for a second. I have plenty of smoke, but no 4 cycling. Right now, all settings remain as they came from the factory. The idle varies a bit, but it doesn't stall. I look forward to doing some real tuning this weekend. Problems - I lost a rear wheel nut and found the front nut on the same side loose. Other than that, so far - so good. Bret

RE: OFFICIAL Redcat Racing TRUCK thread
My 1/8 truck with 27 motor is solid, so far. I'm waiting for the 1/8 buggy - should be here today. I heard nothing good about these things till I found this thread. I have no doubt that as soon as my kids drive either one I'll experience breakage. That's why I won't let them drive my Suburban! Eventually, I'm sure I'll break something on one of my Himotos, but it will be after the motor has been broken in completely and I've worked my way up to the limit of its weakest point. But I think my driving style is a little different than some of these guys. I already know how to break 'em. Nowadays, I try not to crash. My kids are the same way on the video games. Still haven't a clue what a racing line is! Slowly...they learn...slowly.

RE: OFFICIAL Redcat Racing TRUCK thread
Musings: The 1/8 truck from Himoto is available with the 27 Infinity. A zillion is not a real number. Bad driving kills more parts than weather. Changed my mind about being a Redcat dealer.

RE: OFFICIAL Redcat Racing TRUCK thread
I have the 1/8 truck with a 27 and I/m waiting for the 1/8 buggy with a 21. Truck is fast but I'm still breakin' it in and haven't even opened it more than 1/2. Nothing broke so far and I'm at 47 degrees on gravel. I got mine from Hong Kong, but I think it's the same as Redcats. I'd like to become a distributor. I'll let you know when something breaks.

RE: Nitro Fuel
Helpful thread! I just drove 100 miles to my nearest LHS and bought 2 gallons of Cool power 15. Haven't even started the motor (first rc since '92) and saw that Morgan Fuel is for the air! Thanks for makin' me feel good. Now, if I could just figure out if the OS #8 plugs I bought will run my Infinity 21 and 27...

RE: OFFICIAL Redcat Racing TRUCK thread
WoW! I just purchased the Tornado 27 and Torpeda 21 after being out of RC for 12 years and was afraid I made a mistake. So glad I stumbled on this thread. I did a little research and believe that the parts are manufactured in the same plant as Kyosho's. All the bashing had me worried till I realized it as xenophobia (look it up) from brand loyalists who probably recognize now that they could have paid less. My only mistake was not buying three through Redcat so I could deal 'em.
