RE: kv question
Marco ... it would depend on what purpose. High KV means it will draw a lot of amps for the same number of cells when compared with a lower KV motor of the same size. So the question is what sort of plane or application. You must factor in the load, which is your prop. Let's assume we have say a little pylon plane. High KV is needed as they wanna turn small props at high RPMs. The high KV motor will not want to run a say 7" prop when the optimum is say a mere 5". High load will cause your motor to burn. When you fly say a glider, you want low KV motors so you can turn a big prop for the thrust, speed is not the main issue here. So what is your application and what is the motor size? :)

RE: Finesse 1.20 patern plane Electric conversion
You want something in the 8S or 10S range ... you want to turn something like an 18x10. You can look at a motor in the 250KV (8S) or 230KV (10S) range ... see what Sebart recommends for the Wind S 110 ... that is a good baseline. :) I am running a Scorpion 4035-250 on 10S for my Wind S 110, its best on 8S actually, a slightly lower KV motor would be nice got 10S.

RE: Burning up motors! What gives?
Its not what gives, its what you do not have ... you need a Watt Meter ... get one ... you then know what is happening. :)

RE: FUNJET
Jeff ... Cheap motors do not enjoy abuse. Try the SAPAC motor for their 70mm EDFs, run it on 4S with a 6x4 and a 120A ESC ... very fast and thrilling ... I got the stuff but not got the plane up yet, seen many on that config fly ... All were the FJ Ultras

RE: FUNJET
Nigel ... You are EVIL! i shall pop by the LHS and stimulte the local economy. One friend dorked the launch of my FJ Ultra on its maiden flight. Was using a SAPAC EDF outrunner on 3s, its good for 4s with a 6x4. May get both FJs since I got two power systems. Let's see how it goes, also from now on its bungee launches only. :) Have a good weekend flying.

RE: L-39! What a great Jet, ya got one?
Charles ... we do not have a proper RC field here, strange? We are nomads, looking for empty pieces of land to fly from. So that means no belly landing EDFs. Am going back to small planes of 3S 2200 mAh or less. Dislike going to a dusty field that may be muddy bcos it rained 2 days before, and then bake under the sun with little shade. So all my bigger planes are just stored ... got a 50cc and 100cc recently, wanted to go for EP conversion but I am motivated to do so.

VPro L39 looks sweet ... 70mm class comes with fan and motor installed. Their quality is always impeccable. Length 900mm, W/span 810mm, wing area 13.9dm2 and 1100 ~ 1200g all-up weight. Its a 4S 3,300 mAh set up. :)

RE: E-flite F-86 Sabre 15 DF ARF
Greg ... thanks for the info ... yeah I hate the cheater holes, here we hardly have grass fields, it will get torn up. Guess time to look at the Sabre to accompany my MIG. Its a drag that Vpro does not make any spares ... is the maiden flight on YouTube? The link you gave has the file in some format for compression etc that Window Media Player cannot process. Thanks again!

Greg ... as usual, a superb build by you. I think I need to get this plane to accompany my VPro MIG15! Is the finish as sweet as the VPro MIG15? How's the power of this plane compared with the VPro?

RE: Help choosing a motor / esc combo for super skybolt conversion
Santiago ... if it were up to me, I would enjoy the AXI4130/16 on 6S 3,300 or 4,000 packs for sport flying. If I want crazy power I would go with something like a 300KV motor that is one one class above the 4130/16 on 8S and turning a 17x8. But think about your packs ... what will you do with it when you have moved on from the bipe ... 6S means 50/90 class planes ... 8S means 91/110 class planes. Think about that too. You have tons of 50 class planes for 6S, look at Sebart, EF and all. There is a growing number of 8S planes out there now, the 78" ones. They are sweet to fly. I enjoy the EF Extra 78".

RE: trying to land a pylon plane
Try to come in shallow ... as you are flying the downwind leg, keep her low and DO NOT dive. Even with throttle off, she will pick up speed if you dive her. I like to keep the throttle on like a 'low idle' as it will create some drag. Turn slowly for the base leg and for the approach, gradualy losing heigh without diving. Then for the approach you can bring her in as low as you can and if she is still fast, raise the nose a bit, kinda like a porpoising effect to bleed speed. Might your field be kinda small?

RE: Help choosing a motor / esc combo for super skybolt conversion
For the same capacity, 4 cells are heavier but not that much more. You got a bipe there ... some weight is nice, things that are too light don't always fly that great. :)

RE: Help choosing a motor / esc combo for super skybolt conversion
Hmmmm ... 325KV ... need to find out how many amps she will pull with a 17x10. I suspect its an 8S motor ... prob would work on 6 but how many amps will it pull? I suspect on 6S she is best with an 18x8 ... is that prop suitable for your plane?

RE: F27 Stryker motor choice
The set up with 3S will usually pull about 25A but with the new 40C packs, it will pull more amps, so double check the amps and get a proper ESC for it. :)
