RE: What radios are you using? Pro's -vs-cons??
You'll love it. I got my 3pk about a month ago (with bonus rx [:D]) to join my 3pjs that I have been running for almost 10 years now. What a family of radios. Every radio I have bought, stick and pistol, have been Futabas. Never had one fail me. But I did lose my electric Hellcat thanks to a Futaba micro servo popping its gears during a roll. But I am not bitter. I still buy only Futaba electronics. But all my servos are MG now [:)]

Wow, that thunderbolt looks a lot like an old Sears Super Lobo, also Nikko I believe. Diff wheels.

RE: How to - install Dean's plugs?
First you slide some heat shrink over the wire. Then just solder on the wire to the tab. Pull the heat shrink up over the soldered tab and shrink it.

RE: how fast r you going
Thats pretty cool. My RC10s run around 18 mph. They are shelf queens so that is fast enough. I do have a question though. Don't most trannies have some sort of reduction in them? One at the spur is not one at the wheel. That would throw off the go-cart calculator for us to use. Keep in mind I run old six gear RC10s. I do not know how the Minis are set up. I just realized what forum I was in.

RE: Lake Caballo incident
You will want to talk to the Rangers about setting out bouys with line connecting them. That could create a boating hazard that you would be responsible for.

RE: Teach me about electrics!
When you crash a plane, it should be like 'Wow, did you see that' followed by a nice big belly laugh. I have crashed several and that is how I look at it. If I am going to cry, that plane ain't going to fly.

RE: Thinking of getting out of R/C (Bored)
I am 32 and have been playing with cars, trucks, boats and planes for almost 20 years now. I'll buy a car and run it, mod it, run it and then sell it after about a year or 2. I always come back. My boy is 2 and LOVES airplanes so I am back into airplanes now plus I am rebuilding 3 gold RC10s at the moment to bring back old memories. I don't remember all the stuff I have been through, but I keep coming back. I will get out for a year and then I am back again. Take a break or try something new. But don't be in a hurry to get rid of your stuff. I regret selleing everything I ever sold. Lots of regret there.

RE: Gas outboard
I would go with the 11 or 13cc K&B (or equ.) for an outboard nitro. I had my 7.5 on the 45" Scarab and it was just ok.

RE: Legislating against 3D flight
The only thing I would be concerned about is if a particular style of flying or particular plane was being outlawed, country wide. Let the fields handle the planes and leave the AMA out of it. If you don't like the fields ideas, go to another one. Look at the AMA like it is the Federal Government. They should make SOME rules and SOME suggestions but they should not make them all.

RE: STEEL SPUR GEAR ?????
I totally see where Savvy is coming from and I agree with him. But I ran a steel on my T-maxx and never had a problem with it. That is until I installed a .26. Then I busted every plastic gear in the tranny. So I was OK stock, but not with the 26. But I don't think a plastic spur would have saved the tranny with the 26 in. That engine just wayyy over powered it.

RE: What Is Better
Welcome to the forums Jaco. I don't think you can find a larger hive of smarts and experience on the net for your RC needs than here. A little advise though, if you want to make friends quick, ask good detailed questions and do some searching before you ask. There are several threads already dedicated to the revo vs savage battle. Join the battle but be careful starting your own. You need alliances. Again, I welcome you and hope you stay a while.

RE: Enough Computor for G3 or Aerofly
I think I would through another stick of ram in there too Chris while you have the hood popped. You can get a stick of ram and a good agp card for a little over $100(less if you go used on the card). I run AFPDeluxe on an Alienware laptop with 512 of DDR2 and an integrated Radeon([:@]) 9000 chip and 2.4 P4(not the mobile). It does pretty good. I would say PlayStation 2 quality, but not nearly as good as my desktop.

RE: brushless = stripped tranny- help!
Here you go: http://www.rcuniverse.com/vgallery/index.cfm Hyper 7 conversion, these cars have a good aftermarket and they are tough as nails. One option. At least watch the video [:D] Well that link did not work good at all. Just type brushless in the keyword. It is the only video under cars with brushless in the title. Sorry.

RE: brushless = stripped tranny- help!
Try to find something with a hefty aftermarket for metal parts. Check out Robinson racing for gears. I did see a video on here where someone converted a 1/8 buggy to brushless. Highly impressive and no doubt stronger than a pede.

RE: You are not allowed to shoot them.
ORIGINAL: TimC tinky-winky, in England, if I can believe what I've read, a person must run and hide from an armed intruder forcing their way into your home. You can be prosecuted if you harm this intruder. In the U.S., I can send this intruder's brains back out the front door. I like our system better.
Tim, if you are ever in NC, you may want to leave your guns in Cali. State law here says you have to make every atempt to stay clear of the intruder and can only retaliate if back into an area where you have no escape. Now that was the law when I went through the academy a few years ago. It may have changed since, but I doubt it.

RE: radio defaults
When your throttle is at idle, you should se a small gap (about 1 mil on my engines) at the throttle barrel. If it is closed off, it will not start. You can adjust this with the trim. There is not default because every radio is different to every car due to servo throws, linkage lenghts, etc. If you hold the throttle open a little, can you get it to run? Don't worry if the back wheels movin a little you pull the starter cord. Now if you can't hold the wheels still when you pull the cord, you make have melted the clutches to the bell. I did my Kyosho nitro atv like that once.

RE: interesting question for anyone
If your engine uses the same rotostart back plate that the Traxxas engine uses, it should work. I put a rotostart on a .26 motor that was designed for the HPI(?) .21 I think.

Are you referring to the needle adjustment or the physical location of the carb? The instructions are referring to running the needle all the way in clockwise and backing it out 4 turns counter-clockwise. Hope this helps.

RE: Sticks or Wheel
I would much rather have sticks, but when I bought my 3PJ, the LHS only had El-Cheepo sticks(already had 2). I have not been shopping around looking for them, but have not noticed any really nice stick radios for land vehicles. Maybe the Futaba 4 channel but eveyone makes a nice wheel radio. Why can't everyone just make a nice stick radio every couple years or so?

RE: 4-tec wont start
That plug should work but I have found the Traxxas engines to perform better with genuine Traxxas plugs.

RE: 4-tec wont start
I will assume you are using the Traxxas starting system. Pull the wire from the plug and remove the plug Hook the wire back up to the plug Unplugged on of the starter motor wires so it does not blow fuel in your face. Hold the threads of the plug to a bare spot on the engine, preferrably the head. Plug the starter up and hold the button down. Look for the center of the plug to glow. Thats it.
