RE: Sig King Kobra build
I don't have any advise on the retracts, but I happen to have a King Kobra NIB, so I will be watching your thread....

RE: synchronizing engines
I talked to Don Parsons a while back and he "only" flew twins and he said he would rarely have an engine quit...because he worked on ONE engine at a time and NEVER tried to 'sync' them...and he flew a LOT!

RE: Sterling Models WWII Warbirds
Ya gotta LOVE those Sterlings kits of 'yesteryear'....I once bragged I could build 'ANYTHING' because I used to build Sterling kits:) But today that doesn't resonate with the younger generation....and "Hi" Joe, your gas fuel jug is working just GREAT!

RE: Who remembers Big John Eliot?
Yes, I remember him when he worked at Airtronics and I was doing a Product Review for RCM and he guided me through which servos to use (and where they should be used)...He was a very nice gentleman and was very friendly. I was just thinking of him about a week ago when I was looking at my RV-4 from GP (the kit) and it still has those servos in it. Sorry to hear of his passing.

RE: Tuning with your snoot up in the air
ORIGINAL: WacoOne The whole purpose for the 'nose up' test is to make sure the engine is not too lean. The proper way to do it is to adjust the needle with the plane level and THEN stick the nose up with it running at full throttle. If it loses rpms then it's too lean. Richen it up a little and try again. You'll never catch me adjusting my engine anywhere but behind the prop. Some of us needed to learn that the hard way! Bill
Agreed....but I only do the 'adjustment' on the ground, hold the plane up, set it back on the ground to make another adjustment (and repeat as many times as necessary)....AFTER that I try the pinch test and if all goes well, I back out the High Speed needle a 1/4- 1/3 turn to give my engine a 'break' and give it some more lube.....I'm amazed at the the 'experts' at the field when a newbie shows up and they get the brand new engine running at 11,000+ for the TRAINER's first flight - and then proceed to 'train' the student flying that fast[:(] Oh well, they are the 'experts'............

RE: Mufflers for gas engines
Isn't there some 'exhaust' direction and some 'blowback' INTO the engine with every stroke in a two stroke engine? Won't that suck the steel back into the engine?

RE: Canopy for Top Flite's Piper Arrow II
I have to paint this top portion and am leaning toward Grex "Private Stock" a waterbased acrylic and I'm worried about the plastic 1) melting when painted; and 2) cracking due to vibrations. Not worried about fuel proof as it 'should' be way out of the way of any fuel residue. Your thoughts?

Canopy for Top Flite's Piper Arrow II
I was just wondering if anyone know what kind of plastic the canopy/top hatch of the Piper Arrow II is made of? I hope it is made of one of these: Private Stockâ„¢ is versatile. The paint I want to use says it can be used on plastics that include HDPE, PVC, PET, LEXAN and Polycarbonate. For some reason LusterKote isn't matching up well with the covering....

RE: site virus
I too have been having a LOT of problems with this site....my computer has almost gone to the Blue Screen of Death - so I took in my computer to Data Doctors....and mentioned the 'situation' here - interesting comments were made by the tech....AVG "Used to be great" but of late it has NOT been recommended by a lot of companies who have evaluated many of the virus checkers and sadly AVG is near the bottom of most lists! So $85 dollars, my computer is working better - dont' know if it was this site or not, but windows had to be 'adjusted' :(.

speaking of inventory for "old" parts....I was in a hobby shop that sells mostly RC Cars....and WOW!!! The inventory he has on hand - and that he just opened, I would guess most of it is 'current'....if he lasts say 10 years, I can't imagine all the 'obsolete' parts he would have on hand - and of course the part someone wants will not be found:(
