RE: Official Aerobird Swift Thread
Dunkellman - Hiya Pal!!!! You're not far from me I see, good one pal. Maybe meet up for a fly one day??? I was one of the first guys to post on this thread many moons ago with my first plane - the dreaded Swift!!! What you have read previously from (probably) everyone else is that the Swift is the fastest way to loose that 'Spirit to Fly' - its a shocker. Yearh, its tough, but so is a house brick and both break when they crash from 20ft. If you can get the Swift that high, that is!!! I tried everything, I thought it was me but it was'nt....a change to GWS planes proved that. My hangar is now 7 strong, from SlowSticks to EasyCub etc. Don't lose the faith and if you need ANY help I'm round your corner at Bailliston way.....my sons pal is a well-known ex-Livingston player who now plays for Scotland!!!! PM me if you want to meet up or just wat advice - at the moment I've just been discharged from hospital and on crutches but should be able to drive in about one week and maybe get flying myself. See ya guys.......

Hiya guys....here's some piccies of what you can do with SS ally fuses!!!! No 1: EZ* cut-down wing, E-Max 2812, 1300 3S (in pylon) and servos in tail and rudder. SS ally fuse. No 2: Based on LiteStick: 10mm ally fuse again, 370 brushed/geared SS motor. A nice flyer.....all Spectrum gear etc.

RE: GWS Slow Stick Survey
Hiya guys....I'm Back!!! Had Swine Flu (with complications) but I'm OK now thanks....and back to building and flying. But I have to keep the building, flying and re-building (!!!!) to a minimum, so it has to be wholly SS flying or gliding etc. Which is why I'm asking - does anybody here slope-glide their SS's. My normal site is a slope with a 70ft. drop-off and a footie pitch at the bottom, But I've never 'Sloped' a SS. Anybody got any tips about wing placement, Cog, ballasy added and where etc. I'd be very grateful and I'm back here now for good, guys. All the best.......

Hiya guys, sorry for the late reply. To be honest, save your time and money and go for an EPP version called the FliteBug (in the States) or the Bongo (in the UK). You'll have a great (almost!!) indestructible plane - see Ferndale's comments on the Flitebug in one of the threads on RCU......maybe the 'Indoor Flyer' or even Park Flyer threads. If I find the link I'll post it to you. See ya......

ZRat - I tried that link but its easier getting into Fort Knox (not that there's any money there now!!!! - the Bankers have it all). Just got a new plane....a TopGun TB20. Nice plane, still to maiden, b/less, 1800 2S lipo, TX etc etc...and only £97 from LHS. Oh, and the other pic is of a bottle of 59-y-old whisky valued at $400!!!!!! Open to offers (lol).....

RE: Official Aerobird Swift Thread
RowdyJ - pulling the jmper off is an accepted method on most H/Z and P/Z planes (SCub, Stryker, etc) and the esc's are (basically) the same. Many people do thi with no ill effects. I used 1300 3S with stock motor to save weight.....then switched in a Hyperion b/less motor (easy fit) to (finally) make the Swift fly OK - not great but OK. Good luck guys, you'll need it!!!

RE: Official Aerobird Swift Thread
Guys....do you know how to programme the esc or lipos? Google the parkzone Spitfire manual and look on page 9, it gives details on reprogramming etc. Or, I believe, just pull the 'jumper' off the TX. If you look out for a knowledgeable guy called John Cunningham and ask him nicely, he'll give all the info you'll need. He also produces and sells a cheap leccy thingy that will allow you to use brushless motors with the original esc/RX!!!!! Check him out.....a nice guy!!

FirebirdMan - get the DX6i. The range (as tested by myself and wifey) is at least 5 soccer pitches (on the flat), and more......I ran out of walking space!!!!! The AR6200 is the best RX ever.

RE: Official Aerobird Swift Thread
Guys...I'm a Swift flyer from way back when....but I saw the Light and moved onwards and upwards. On Lipo connections - Nothing wrong with Deans at all....but when something goes 'wrong' (smoke?) its difficult to get them apart. So I went the indoor lightweight route and only use 3.5mm gold sprung connectors. I buy them in 20 pairs to save money etc and have never had a problem.....as long as the wires and heat shrink are colour coded. If your Swift is a right-off you've got all the gear you need to make a Stryker with lipo - fast and cheap. Just buy the fuse (£15...$?) and use Critterhunters ideas to strengthen the foam etc. You'll end up with a beaut of a plane!!!!! Good luck guys.....you'll need it with the Swift!!!

RE: Easy Star close call on maiden flight
Well, you picked on of the best planes in the sky anyway!! There's only one problem with the EZ*, and thats the small rudder movement. There are mods that cn be done (enlarged rudder, bigger servos etc) that will improve it no end. And if you want more zap, just insert a Himax/Himark inrunner and it will be a blast. Good flying pal......

Guys - I've noticed that most of you use 'strips' for take-off, but in my case there aren't too many good ones around here. I usually hand-launch all my planes, even the Multiplex Easycub!! Is there anything to watch out for with the SC, any tips etc. I'd hate to see my 'baby' crash and burn on its maiden!!

'Tis just a scratch.......... Someone gave me all the mod info and pages that related to that info, but I had to put my laptop back to 'factory settings' and lost it all....if anybody has it could they post again please. Its just that I want the info for using lipos on the stock esc. I know there's a jumper to be removed - but which one? Thanks guys...... An uncle of my wife died recently and we cleared his house out today...and guess what I found? A bottle (22 2/3 oz.) of James Buchanan Scotch Whiskey (Limited edition) thats 70% proof and 40+ years old - what price? A new Typhoon, a new Mustang, an extra holiday......life is good!!!!!

Guys....thanks for sharing your personal thoughts about Jim (and also all your pals and friends) who have some sort of disabiltity. James gave me a home-bilt (from plans) Bushwacker nitro plane I converted to leccy. It flew great but my 'strip' wasn't up to the long take-off it needed. You've all now inspried me to get this baby up and running in respect of James. Kepp you informed with pics. And guess what....I just ordered a stock Super Cub (Nimh), not the new 1300 3S lipo version. I'll pull the jumper off the esc and use my own lipos. Yippeeee........

RE: Official Hobby Zone
Gentlemen....I'm back off my hols in Turkey and guess what - I just placed my order for my Super Cub (Yippeeeee!!!). Arrives Wednesday but its the stock NimH version, not the new Lipo one. Who cares, I'll give it one week and it will have the jumper removed and will be on 1300 3S lipo. I'll keep everything stock until it breaks and replace things like Esc/Rx, TX, servos etc. I'm catchng up on the mods section of this thread thanks to you guys - I should have done this sooner. That FlyCamONe is in 2 versions - the older one and the FlyCamOne2 (new one is far better). For those that need to know - the HXT900 is a great servo, tough as old boots and rarely fails.

Guys....Ferndale is right, only saw one woman topless!!!! BIG German - enough said. I took a Phase 3 Rookie (indoor) but only got 2 good flights in - it was toooo windy. 100F, clear skys etc....am I making sick!!!! At the moment I'm doing an inventory on all my planes and what they need to keep flying but also to improve....things like better servos, motors etc. The list is endless. No new planes to be bought until the new P?Zone PNP B/less Mustang hits Europe.....you just get the 27mhz thing.....but we can stick our trusty Spectrum gear in for FULL control manipulation. Ain't you jealous. Don't know what the price is but I don't give a Tinkers Cuss what it is - I want one!!!!! Still to finish the GWS 'Stang so thats why I'm buying 'stuff' to finih it and improve my S/Sticks. Got to go - shopping to do.......

RE: Badius Owners Club: A New Hope?
Night-Train......I'm back off my hols (Turkey) and just saw your post on the Badius. The Badius guys (Airborne/Japan) gave me 2 of them which flew Ok as stock. But being the bar steward I am I decided that a b/less had to go in with lipo - but not any old b/less - it was a BIG 200+W Himark inrunner which fitted perfectly and with a 1300 3S. Wow, vertical, stable and brooody Fast!!!!! Toof fast so its now got just 150W Zeda motor and 1300 3S. I later swapped the wing for a cut-down Easystar wing and it flies brilliantly, thermalls, verts and is tough as old boots. Its got DX6i Spectrum and long-range AR6200 to control it. I'm back guys!!!!!!

RE: Badius Owners Club: A New Hope?
Gentlemen ('cos thats what you are!!) - I'm in a reflective mood today and I hope the Moderator will bear with me a wile, this is a sad, true tale..... A guy I know called James (aka Wing Commander or WC), is 52 y-old. He is or was, dedicated to all things modelling, boats, planes etc. And a perfectionist in every way, a true scale builder. He even has 5ft. long model ships on display in the Glasgow Museum of Transport.....but fate dealt him a terrible blow - he was diagnosed with Diabetes. Now, normally we wouldn't be too concerned, because lots of people have this condition (and its getting more prevalent). But James is losing his sight and can't build anything anymore.....can you imagine what that would mean to yourself, no building, no flying, no driving (or cycling).....nothing. I gave him a lift home last week and was invited in, and he gave me some bits and pieces that he could no longer use, mainly tool sets etc. He asked if I would like to see his latest (unfinished) project, a WW1 Sopwith Camel Bipe. I entered the room and it was strapped to the ceiling, 6ft. w/span, huge, a gasser minus the engine. The engine was on a table and the size of a lawn mower, a monster. I offered to buy it from him but 'No' was the reply, he couldn't part with it at any price. So guys, when you are next flying, just think of those who can't, for whatever reason. I am disabled (hip arthritis etc) but at least I can build and fly. Thanks Mr. Mod for your patience......

RE: Badius Owners Club: A New Hope?
ZRat man - thanks for the info, great minds think alike, right? The LiteStick goes in the suitcase no problem. A tip for anybody going on a plane with a plane (does that sound strange?). First. Don't put the TX in hand baggage, X-Ray picks it up as a 'detonation device' - Das ist nicht sehr gut, yar!!! Second. Put the plane in the suitcase with the lipos, lipos shouldn't/aren't allowed in the cabin area (Explosion??). Third. Wherever you are going find out the MHz/Ghx restrictions in that country - most country's have different frequencies - UK is 35, AUs (maybe?0 36 etc etc. Also, some countries do not allow model aircraft to fly unless in specified areas. Lets see you fly an EasyStar over N. Korean airspace with a FlyCamOne strapped to it - get my drift guys.......Luv you alll.........

TP14 and others - here's a few pics, first is a mod I did to an EasyStar tail assembly to make the rudder and elevator move quicker and more movement etc. Inserted the 2 servos into the tail and rudder stab, plus had to use an extension lead to the ESC etc. It made a big difference. The second pic is SonofSatan, a cut-down Stryker (Nosecrash) but without the running gear, its being uprated from the E-Max 2805 you see to a bigger and better 250W Himark....yum yum. Vertical here I come...and yes, they do look like dogs, but they are my dogs!!!!!

Sinai, GWS my friends....call that wind? When your here in Glasgow its always windy - you wussy' 's!!!! I'm looking out of my window (I own 2 flats/apartments), one above the other, the top one is where the kids (27 and 28) live. We live in the bottom flat. I look out and see a Wind Farm on the top of the valley opposite. This Wind Farm produces enough Leccy for 130,000 houses (a small town). And guess what - its windy!!!! I'm on holiday for 2 weeks to Turkey and taking a small LiteStick. When I get back I'm going to try and start an all-electric flying club in Glasgow, I haven't worked out the details yet but basically its......arrange your own insurance, park flying (anywhere/everywhere), all members to be contacted by e-mail as regards wind (flying or no flying), only electric, BUT the main thing is to be safe for Mr Joe Public. Turn up, turn it one and just FLY......and please, please, if anybody has any ideas or warnings please tell me. There will be no Fees paid - we are Renegades, but safe ones.

TP14 - there' nothing wrong with Zippy at all, but take a look at LOooong Max. I've never had one go 'bad' on me. I've had lots of lipo's, and the more expensive one were rubbish. Two of them 'let go' and exploded in my living room, a choking, pungent smell that lingere dfor a day....and MY Ever Gracious wasn't too happy about that either. For TP14 only - I worked for 30 years for 2 'premier' newspapers, both in writing, reporting and photography. There isn't a better profession. You can't be replaced by a computer.....but you seem to have a gift for writing. Tell your Mum/Dad exactly what I have written here and they will appreciate it.
