RE: Emergency safety alert: FEJ big F-18F Superhornet
ORIGINAL: ravill
ORIGINAL: Wap4life I would love to buy BVM as soon as they make something other than a F4 to fly.  Don't like the sports jets.
BVM makes EXACTLY 8 scale jets. 1. ''little'' F-86 2. ''Big'' f-86 3. t-33 4. f-80 5. Mig-15 6. F-4 Phantom 7. F-100D 8. F-100F Not to mention all the scale jets Comp ARF or Skymaster makes with a steadfast reputation. Take your pick and stop endangering our hobby. I'm at the point of taking personal offense to YOUR (and everyone else who continues to fly FEJ) moronic, lackadaisical and ignorant approach to what has proved, over and over and over again, to be unsafe airframes. These flying paper mache ''jets'' will kill someone and take my beloved RC Jet hobby away from me. And yes, I will take it personally. To the OP, great save! Time to take all the stuff out of that airplane and put it into a safe airplane. Lesson learned huh?!
I do see modelers from time to time make same mistake had linkage set up so poorly lead to flutters problem. Not just blaming on manufactures. We are the modelers and should take some understanding lesson how proper install too. Nothing is bullet proof. But try to do our best. Pointing fingers is not always the best solution.

Here what I see with this set up was wrong. If you had this lingkage set up. I bet on anything it will flutter. Regardless which manufactures making the jets. If you don't want your plane to be next hot topic. Get it done right. At least this resolve one of the linkage flutter problem.

Hope my post proper install is important to all and it a must on the lists to do. And try to cut the craps about FEJ business ethic. Enough said on other threads. Let help those had FEJ planes from crashing to the ground.

RE: Emergency safety alert: FEJ big F-18F Superhornet
Jim Never do install your servo linkage this way. This is poor mechanical linkage. Look at the drawing on my post about mechanical advantage linkage set up. You want the servo arm to be short as possible. The control arm on the stabs long as possible. Allow your ATV travel at least 100% to get the max mechanical advantage. This also reduce sloppy play between the servo to the flying surface. Yes proper pivot point the stabs will be more dynamic balance require less torque from the servo to hold the stabs and prevent your servo from stalling. http://images.rcuniverse.com/forum/upfiles/22857/Ur52162.pdf

RE: Emergency safety alert: FEJ big F-18F Superhornet
ORIGINAL: FenderBean I would really like to know what the people who have this jet and have flown it without problems have done, same for the f-14. They have sold these to people all over the world and I have seen youtube videos of them flying. If they did mods seeing what they did could help current owners.
There is a lot things that need to done right. Let start with mechanical linkage set up to take out the sloppy play to the flying surface. Most common flutter start from here lead to major failure. How the aircraft was built at the factory is beyond from user doing the assembly. That is manufacture need to do more testing before products are release. Look at page 4.

I just look the video. Once again...pivot point also too far back one problem right there. The next is how the mechanical linkage set up? Here how I would think proper pivot point for the F-18 stabs

RE: Emergency safety alert: FEJ big F-18F Superhornet
ORIGINAL: AndyAndrews I don't know, at this point I am very concerned about all of the honey comb jets FEJ is making. We could be in for some very serious accidents if these jets are not grounded until more is known about how to prevent these structural failures. Current FEJ owners, do you really want to take the chance that someone might get seriously injured or killed flying one of these?
Honeycone was the least problem. First is to prevent the flutter. Once it flutter. It doesn't matter if you had solid wood. The energy of the flutter will isolate to the next weak point. Some how I can't post pictures. It sill give me 500 erro code.

Built pipe it take more than just roll up the metal and weld. There is structure design to kept the pipe from collapsing. Specially long pipe.

RE: DEDICATED JET FOR P20,WHEN
I had done quite a few already. P-20 is about same power to EDF at 2kw. I even had my Habu 32 wit 4.3kw power doing over 200 down wind. So P-20 is good engine for most common 70-90mm EDF jets.
ORIGINAL: tinal <font size=''4''>some guys use wrong info. to hurt people or company. No good <font size=''4''>tam, your 160size pipe can run p200 long?
FEJ was poorly made. Is just too soft and waiting to fail without any warning. Many of those pipe fail. Now their making bigger jets and required bigger engine. More pipe will fail like this one. Hope everyone is smart enough had it replace instead of question is it will work goes out and fly with it. I always said. Replace the pipe only cost 2-3% of the value of the plane. That most value money spend right there.

I'm still here. Not leaving yet. The answer is throw away those pipe. Can't share my secret to the world. This is my bread and butter. Just remind anyone to replacs pipe. I can made pipe paper thin still stronger that those heavy duty pipe (that what their call it). Heavy duty junks metal. That what it is.

RE: Tamjets close for vacation June 1-15
By end of next weekend be taking last order to make pipes before leaving. I need time to finish and don't want to kill myself working 48 straight like very time I'm leaving for trip. So get you order in so I can arrange the schedules. Don't wait last minutes and want it soon. Your bottom will get hurt if I had to stay late doing OT.[:D]
