RE: Slow transition on DLE20
ORIGINAL: bcchi You are fighting the #4 ignition timing. The only way to cure your problem is to change the ignition to a RCEXL from a DLE 30 or 55.If your ign has a #4 on it it has a werid timing curve, not really a curve but timing advances all at once at about 2200 RPM.This why your RPM jumps up all at once.It drops down the same way . It seems like it hangs up on high idle and then drops all at once. This is not the fault of RCEXL,Xu Liang knows this is wrong but this is what DLE wanted. If you put a timing light on it is vary easy to see why this is a problem with the #4 ignition. BCCHI Grumpy #2.AMA 2500
This guy (Bill ) knows what he is talking about.....You would be wise to listen.....FWIW.....

RE: A123 Question
ORIGINAL: Truckracer Taz, I don't question your findings and the capacity used out of the battery on each flight .... .but I certainly do question that voltage reading on your charger! That is in line with a fully charged two cell LiPo, not a LiFe battery! Are you sure your charger is operating in the LiFe mode? I would expect to see 7.2 V on the display at the end of a LiFe charge cycle.
+1....

RE: YS 70 tuning question
I'll pull the barrel out of the carb and see if I can determine anything about that before sending it in.
Ernie....FWIW, just trying to save ya some more trouble.....the carb barrel uses a "Lip" type seal that is "Directional" & is easy to damage when removing/installing.....slide the barrel out from the low/speed adjustment end of the carb.....once removed, notice the direction of the seal "Lip", also at this time you could run a larger drill through the "Air/Bleed" hole if you so choose (I have done this many times).....Again FWIW..... RE: YS 70 tuning question
Ernie....You are probably correct on the "20/20" being the standard.....just trying to figure why you are having trouble....like I mentioned, I have two of these little buggars, & two of the 115FZ-S's as well as several of the 110FZ's & a couple 140L's.....love/um all, but I do have to say IMHO the "New" reg. is a blessing!.....I have now moved onto gasser's, up to the 111cc "DLE", BUT I do go back & fly my "YS's" from time to time......Still love the sound/smell/sight (smoke) & feel (on the throttle stick) of a "YS"........I'm rambling.......

RE: YS115 wont start
ORIGINAL: bobg tried everything on this engine ,put small amount of fuel in plug hole and then into carb still no pop! took rocker cover off ...bingo !!! valve stuck closed ....about 5mm clearance on tappet !!! does anyone have sugestions on how to fix this or does it have to be returned for service !
That sounds like "Stuck Open".....I've had this happen, sometimes a little carbon formation on the valve/stem will cause it hang/up.....Have you tried inserting a small screwdriver under the spring retainer & lifting with an effort to "Pop" it back to the closed position?.....BUT if it is truly stuck "Closed" & you have 5mm tappet clearance, then you've got more serious issues.....If a valve is "Stuck Closed" & the crank/shaft is rotated; something has to "Give"....resulting in at least a bent push/rod....FWIW....

RE: ys 91 ac question
ORIGINAL: ululi1970 Here's what I found so far: 1) The valve clearance is about 0.05mm, so within specs. 2) at TDC, the timing mark on the camshaft is at the top. Based on the manual, that is where it is supposed to be. BTW, to inspect the timing I removed the cover to the camshaft and rotate the cranckshaft. Can the timing be accidentally changed without taking the camshaft out? I do not hink so, and I checked before closing the cover, but just in case. I will do Four Stroke trick as soon as I can get a pressure gauge from the lab... Alberto
Not on any "YS" I've had & I've had a bunch (but never a 91AC).....TDC as far as I know is NOT used for cam/timing reference.....the reference dot on the crank/shaft while at BDC is not the same as piston TDC.....FWIW....

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA
Just a thought....has anyone tried cutting the stingers off and using silicone rubber tubing instead? I've made my own silicone stingers by wrapping glass impregnated with Ultra Copper. I use 2 oz cloth and wrap 3 layers on the tube I want to use as sizer. I first line the aluminum with teflon tape and then wrap the glass pre-preg. Then wrap teflon tape over the top of the silicone rubber as much to apply compression as for a smooth finsh. Cures overnight. Simple to actually do and you get a very nice and thin, super light but strong, easily conformable and attachable exhaust stinger. It is a bit messy and I work on a piece of wax paper with gloved hands, but overall an easy technique to follow
Interesting....Does this have any effect on exhaust noise level? .....
One thing I could do is attach the wings temporarily to the fuse without the wing tube. If they are flush, then I know the wing tube is longer.
Simply slide both wings ALL THE WAY onto the wing/tube, minus the fuze, measure the distance between both wing roots, (at the wing/tube) call this Dimension "A"....... Now slide a tape measure through the fuze wing/tube/socket & measure the fuze width at this point, call this Dimension "B"...... Dimension "B" should be greater than Dimension "A"........
