ORIGINAL: snakestretcher52 A Centurion with a Thorneycroft Mighty Antar transporter? I can dream, I guess! British armour is woefully lacking generally; How about tha A34 Comet; the only British tank developed in WW2 capable of taking on the Panther on equal terms? The Mk III Valentine would also be on my list, and we absolutely need an RTR T34/85.
Hi snake her are some more picts. A-34 Cpmet and M3A3 Stuart

RE: How much longer till the new HLs come out!?
ORIGINAL: dedmonwakin I don't see why alot of the forum members here that do some degree of scratch building don't join forces to work on one particular tank and make multiples for the group in 1/16 scale (like one guy draws up the precision plans, the other guy takes on the hull, the detailer, the roadwheels guy, accessories guy, the final builder, the resin/metal caster, etc....). That would be a sweet deal to see. If more manufactures start seeing people/groups turn to scratch building by the masses.....if that won't put fire under their tails, I don't know what will.
Hi dedmonwakin I am in the process of creating complex 3D CAD models of WWII tanks. I start by taking 1/35 scale tanks and scaleing them up to 1/16 scale this is the scale I picked because I plan on makeing them available for Radio Control. I can, because these are cad models, make accurate build drawings in any popular scale 1/15,1/16,1/18/1/6,1/8, etc. If there is a particulare tank you or any member of the forum would like done. Her is what I would need. 1) I would need a accurate 1/35 scale model of the tank (one that has not been put together) this will be returned with the drawings when completed. 2) Any information, drawings, specs, pictures that you have of the tank, these will also be returned. 3) There will be a cost involved for the drawings (still figuring this out) and mailing costs. Here are a few of the tanks I am in the process of creating.

RE: what size is a rx-18 board lgth x wdth x hght
I am making it in 1/16 scale( but as you can see from my other posts) I am also creating these in a computor cad system (UGNX 6) This will allow me to make drawings in any scale needed.
ORIGINAL: dedmonwakin No problemo! What scale are you making the Stuart? The rx18 and the receiver (if your using the HL receiver) aren't very large at all as you can tell by the dimensions for the RX18 board. You could probably fit this in a 1/35 scale tank( tight fit though)......not sure about a 1/35 scale Stuart though...but definitely a tiger.
RE: update on the 3D CAD tanks i'm. working on
ORIGINAL: Car5858 I think the drawings are pretty cool. Did you create each part as a solid model? The overall assembly looks great. I have been trying to model track links, no luck so far. I have found that if you export the soild model as an .stl file it is printable on a 3D printer. Using Acad 2010 Acad Mech 2010 Learning to use Acad Inventor 2010
Car5858 I created all the models in Unigraphics NX6, I can export them to DXF/DWG or as a parasolid. They are full 3D CAD models and take quite a long time to create. Tracks are very complex, for example I have the left and right tracks for the A34 Comet modeled and added all the fillets and radiusus, bad idea the files are HUGE and lock up my computer if I try to shade them. So I have to go back and remove the fillets and radiusus on 110 x 2 track links. If you are interested in a DWG OR DXF file PM me and we can work out a deal.

RE: Hi from newbie...and the same old question!
ORIGINAL: snakestretcher52 Well, at the ripe old age of 57 I've decided I need to be a kid again-although some might argue, with justification, that I never grew up! Anyhow, to satisfy my tank cravings and limited budget I've been researching HL products, youtube, reviews and some comments here. I have decided that one of the 'pro' level 1/16 models is a good bet, and both the Bulldog and Panther have been shortlisted. As far as I can see only the Panther, Panther G, Bulldog and Panzer III with 75mm howitzer are available RTR with upgrade metal tracks and gearbox. So, to the question. Which one for reliability and performance? Thanks and apologies in advance for 'the same old question'. Cheers, Snake
snakestretcher52 I beleive you can get any available Heng Long tank S&S with the metal gears, sprokets/idlers and tracks. Check out RCCommand he carries them with steel gears witch mean you don't. have to breack them in. Wecome to the hobby, be carfull it is really adicting

RE: update on the 3D CAD tanks i'm. working on
ORIGINAL: Alan123 Looks good, but there are already lots of tigers that one can buy in all sorts of scales. Better to spend your time on models that have not yet been produced in RC such as the Cromwell. Cheers Alan
Alan123 I basically did the tiger as a scale and accuracy check for fixing any discrepincies in the HL Tiger. Also for anyone how needs a accurate drawing with dimensions in any scale they need.

RE: Conversion kit for KV1 to KV85
Are you sure those Famo kits are 1/16 scale, and not the 1/6 scale ones you see on the net? The price is around the same 250 Euro. If they are 1/16 they would be a great addition to the hobby.

getting a wounded tiger off the battle field???
Hi all I was wondering how the Germans got there Tigers off the battle field when they broke down or were wounded in battle? I have seen pictures of Sd. Kfz. 7 8t Famos towing tigers, but they seem to be a little under powered for this. Also the trailer they use only carries 22 tons (Tiger weighed 57 tons). Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Who is?
59 here, 3 1/2 years in the Navy 68-72, USS Wasp CVS-18. Made it to Europe twice. Semi-retired Computor-Automotive Tool Designer, I am in the process of modeling as many tanks as I can in Unigraphics NX6. Hope to be able to print them out with demensions for all of us to use for scracth building. Have T26E3 Pershing about 80% done, M-55 8" SPG about 20% done, A-34 Comet about 30% done. I am working on Pz. Kpfw. VI ausf. E Sd. Kfz. 181 Tiger 1 (bought Dragon 1/35 kit # 6406 to use for scaling up to 1/16). If anyone has a "SCALE" drawing of any tank, half track, or what ever that they want made in 1/16 scale (or any scale). Send me a PM and we can work something out.

RE: Airbrush advice
Hi Jpvert I have been airbrushing for many years, hobby, motorcycles, wall murals, etc. These items will work fine for what you are looking for. I prefer the VL-airbrush (2-stage) press down for air, and pull back for paint, much better control. The hobby brush is single stage press down for paint and air It's. ok but not as much control, does have a bigger spray pattern though. The compressor from Harbor Freight is ok much quiter then the sears (I have both). Don't. put compressor in garage climate change will cause lots of water in line. These should be in the $200.00 range to get started. Have fun and camo your heart out! http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=93657 http://www.micromark.com/PAASCHE-2000H-HOBBY-AIRBRUSH-KIT,9116.html http://www.micromark.com/PAASCHE-MODEL-VL-AIRBRUSH-SET,9009.html
