RE: Cen GST 7.7 BRUSHLESS BUILD!
use a center diff, ditch the trans or maybe hunt down a revo trans and fit it in there. as for burning things up, gear it right and you'll do fine.

RE: newby question on motor
i've seen that brand. the shaft is 5mm, i did check that already. i believe it should bolt right up, so i'm really thinking it will work. thanks. i will look for that heli too since i'm looking for a low cost starter. do you feel its better than the hk500gt kits and simular helis as far as quality goes?

newby question on motor
i think i've made my mind to make the jump into electric heli's from electric cars. i would like to utilize some of my electronics i have now, so i've been looking into the larger helis. this has landed me most interested in a 500 size due to size and price. i want nothing to do with a rtf heli, kits only since i need to learn and i like to choose my own stuff. my main question at this point is i see most of these heli's use an outrunner motor, very simular size to a 550 inrunner. i currently have my esc covered, but for motor i have a mega acn 22/45/2 1380kv and was wondering if this would work or will i need to order an outrunner. i'm not too worried if it doesn't work because there seems to be plenty of budget options out there to get started on. my plan is to order a kit and assemble as i learn (from reading), and slowly choose and buy my electronics and radio over time starting first with the radio. i think a sim (pheonix maybe) would be a nice item for my christmas list so i can practice before the real thing one day in the future.

RE: $600 budget, what would you do?
will you be going off road at all? my experience is pretty much all yard/street bashing. i keep trying the smaller cars/trucks but always ditch them for a monster truck. its the bashers #1 for doing it all. unless you keep your grass nice and short, you'll be limited with most 1/10 trucks and yes even the slash 4x4. i just got rid of mine. if you can use smaller tire trucks, i have to say the slash 4x4 for me was very tough and reliable. if you use stock electronics, you also get a lot of water protection for those post rainy day runs too.

RE: cc sidewinder esc on 4s
i remember before we got many higher voltage esc's on the market that the did handle i think even upto 5 cells, but it was hit or miss and you had to use a bec for your radio gear. its up to you to chance it, but i wouldn't expect castle to replace it for you if it doesn't work out. i used to run a hot bodies 10th scale truggy off one on 4s2p of a123's on a fiegao 8L motor and it was a thing of beauty, although i little less voltage.

i'm sure it would work just fine, i already have the 2 speed pinion i used in a 1/8 onroad. i just didn't want all the extra stuff on there. i finished my mounts and got my motor in. i'm waiting on posting pics once i get the truck rtr, cause then there won't be any changes. i just used the diff that was in the transmission, and i have a cen tr arena 62t spur ordered for it.

RE: GST 7.7 Brushless conversion help needed
okay, i'm going to go with a center diff, although i really thought about trying my luck shifting gears thru the 3 speed trans. i prefer simple though. my question is when you used the arena's center diff did you keep the front slider shaft or go to a dog bone? i think i would like to keep the slider but i need to make sure i have the right output from the diff. i was going to use a gs sut center diff i have, but the output on the trans won't adapt to my diff for a easy swap. the front shaft is red locktight onto the front diff so i couldn't get it off to look at my options there.

awsome. looks like i can even use what i currently have then and maybe not have to buy anything. i currently have an mgm 22418 esc, sentinal 100a 10s esc, and strong motors i have a kb4510xl and a mega acn2240 i believe, i have to double check that modle number, but that sucker is stout and 6 pole ultra high end components. i did get the truck yesturday so i can start tearing down and cleaning the nitro smell off. i think is still have my eye on some other brushless equipment, but i will probably start with what i have and go from there.

RE: Cheap Speed
okay, its obvious it greatly depends on what type of car you choose how much and how easy this will be. since you have said that, think about a few things like will this car ever go off road? how much room do you have to reach 100? is this a once in a while speed or do you plan on this thing being able to go to those speeds often? how stable do you want this thing? getting there once should be easy and probably could pull off with 1/2 your budget.

i like the setup you have there. its very close to what i was thinking about doing if my ebay purchase ever gets shipped.......... what center diff and spur did you use? spur looks nice and big. also, i'm surprised that system can throw that trucks weight like that. i've been planning much more power for it, maybe i can save some $$ on it. how are your temps, expecially bashing through grass?

a few questions about a roller i just bought
i picked up a cen gst and plan on doing a brushless conversion but while i'm waiting on it to arrive i have a couple of questions. first what bodies can i use? i'm not a big fan of thier stock bodies so i'm wondering if other larger bodies will fit. my original plans were to buy a gsr because of the weight, but i found this deal and jumped on it. i'm looking for differences between the two so i can shed some fat. i haven't been able to locate a good source of info on the differences but what i think i see are 2 speed trans vs. 3 speed smaller wheels tires one break setup vs. 2 breaks smaller motor plastic axles vs. steel cvds 4 shocks vs. 8 shocks its hard to believe that is 3lbs of weight, am i missing some things? also just fyi my norten keeps telling me there is a virus attached to this site, it started this morning.

RE: Has anyone driven a Hyper MiniST electric?
i would say it depends on what you want, mini monster truck, or mini truggy. i havent messed with a merv, but also was choosing between the two and decided on getting the mini ste. i am really enjoying it. at first didn't until i changed the diff fluid. performer, i would go with mini ste straight up mini basher with options to bling out i would go merv.

so do you get 2nd gear shift wheelies and better top speed out of the axial? i was thinking a higher toothed cb with a bb would do the trick.

i thought about the axial's, because they'er so cheap, but i just can't help but imagine it would be torque overkill in this thing. i guess i can do some research and find a good mid range-top range pipe to tame the bottem end a bit and keep the low speed on the rich side. anybody know about the GO engines?

well, i've ordered the bb new era kit, so now i'm just watching for ebay deals. also, i've put on a tuned pipe i had for an old school rc10gt back in the day, but it didn't really do much for power. i thought about porting a polishing, but this motor will do until i get the upgrade in. i don't think a pp job will give me what i want, and then i'll possible make a tempermental motor and still get the upgrade later on.

RE: Size of set screw
man, this must be an issue with these trucks. i lost mine this past weekend. at first it just seemed loose, but i reinstalled it, and it lasted maybe a full min, then tightened it again and gave more time for the thread lock to set and it looked like there was some sheared threads on the screw. it didn't last at all after that, and i lost the set screw. i need to order new diff cups.

i haven't really read too much about drivetrain problems yet, so i assumed that it wouldn't be an issue as long as i don't put too much power through the truck.

at first i was thinking .21's because they should have the upper end power i want, with out the gear shreading torque of the bigger engines. but after scouring ebay looking at chop shop engines i'm seeing some really nice deals on .26's and .28's out of rtr's.

sweet, another more power for mmgt thread
so quick break down on me. i've been in and out of rc for about 4yrs now, and started with nitro. it was good fun, but when 18th scale was such the in thing, i jumped into that and fell inlove with lithium batts, and brushless motors. i then went on and converted several 1/10 and 1/8th scalers into monsters. i decided to give nitro another try since its been a while, and a neighbor just picked up a savage x. smart choice on my part was ofcourse mmgt at towers rediculas price. onto now. breakin and tuning is done and the truck is keeping my happy very nicely. but like all my other rc's, i will and do want to get more out of it. i know this truck isn't built to handle loads of powerr, and there isn't aftermarket support to get you there. so im looking at keeping it nitro, but weighing my options here. one thing thats crossed my mind was the trx 3.3 is a few short mods from fitting, but better than that the new era bb kit seems like the better option. now for your help. which is the more logical path to take, and also which engines should i be looking at for bb. i'm thinking i would like a high end screamer, as any bb should be a low end upgrade to get the front tires light. i'm looking cheap(@100-150$), not too much power that'll kill the drive train, and lots of speed, so high rpm, and also dead nuts reliable. i don't want tuning and running problems that'll cause me to convert it to brushless.
ORIGINAL: breezerboat check out the MGT 3.0. it's fairly inexpensive and a great little truck. I have it and it's tough.
i second this. it just can't be beat for what you get per price right now. idk if the model is being cleared out or what, but it is truely a steal! i finished my finial tuning on mine last night, and i'm completely satisfied. very fun truck, id say equal to a 2.5 tmaxx, but it might handle a bit better out of the box. i went ahead and put some offset wheels on mine and upgraded the radio. only issues i've run into are while break in, i had a hard time getting a happy tune that would idle for long periods. that imediatly went away when i changed to glow plug for a mccoy 59 and did my performance tuning. other issue is i broke the grab bar/handle during a rollover on the street. not a real big issue since i was planning on removing it anyways. long story short, its a great buy.
