RE: Heli Max FP VS EFlite MSR
It may work for some people, just not me. But I'm also still learning a heli and that could bear some of the issues I have had. Just my two cents....

RE: MSR Paintjob, Anyone Else?
Did the weight of the paints affect its flight characteristics any? I hope they offer a lexan canopy someday for just this purpose.

RE: Blade MSR blade grips aluminum or not?
I can't count how many times I have bounces my mSR off the walls, ceiling, or anything else that gets in the way. I have only had to replace the grips once, but as mentioned above, I always cut the power when I know the inevitable is coming. I also would recommend one of the CX helis.

RE: Heli Max FP VS EFlite MSR
I have two eflite mCX (S300 & regular), mSR and the Heli-max Novus FP, and I can't recommend the FP in any way. As was stated above by others, I have yet to get through one battery pack. I haven't had the tail issues, but the cyclic response on mine is absolutely pathetic! Stick with the Eflite micros.

RE: Return to flying-radio input: Airtronics RDS8000, Futaba 7C or Spektrum DX7
Sorry for the delay in my reply as I've been away for a while. I only plan to sport fly, no competition here and highly doubtful if I work with helis. I chose the RDS8000 of the selection having familiarity with the software and the added features of the additional channels. Plus the ability to use the older radio to buddy-box with for my kids. Thanks everyone for your input.

RE: Return to flying-radio input: Airtronics RDS8000, Futaba 7C or Spektrum DX7
Thanks all, I have used a coworker's DX7 on his GWS stick, and am iffy as to it's feel. As for actual air-time, my old equipment is still in the club and there's no issues with getting flying time on those either. I did hang on to my 3.5 version of Real Flight and have been using it more frequently lately. I did hear of the proprietary issues with the receivers and can only think that the selections will continue to grow with all of them. Again, thanks for you input thus far.

Return to flying-radio input: Airtronics RDS8000, Futaba 7C or Spektrum DX7
Hey all, I am returning to flying after a several year hiatus and have noticed that 72MHz have fallen quite significantly and that the 2.4GHz has really come on line fully. I am needing to get the radio equipment again and am considering the Airtronics RDS8000, Futaba 7C or the Spektrum DX7 or SE variant. My last radio was an Airtronics RD6000 Super, which I really liked, so the programming & controls of the RDS8000 should be a snap to me, but the local club uses Futaba with a few JR/Spektrum thrown in. Is there anything that makes any one of these systems stand out more than the rest? Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks!

RE: Kyosho Melody 1500
The rod goes through the upper hole in the fuse. The studs at the base of each wing are used to hold the wings to the fuselage using your trusty rubber band. I had one briefly, but it never made it past the training period and I gave up after waiting six months for the backordered wings that never showed. And this was back around 1990.

RE: Just got a Homelite weed engine
I have an older Homelite engine that I plan on using to power a boat I'm working on. The engine has an electric starter built into it. Does anyone know anything about these? Would it be worth keeping the starter, or can I drop in a pull starter?

RE: servo's for footy's
I have a scratch built Footy that I use two standard servos in. I imagine that you could get away with smaller servos, but you'll need a lil bit of torque in them. Probably a HS225MG at minimum for the sails. It really depends on the sail area and winds that you'll sail in. As for making a servo a sail winch, I used a 'plank' made from plexiglass window material and attached it to the output wheel on the servo.

RE: T-Maxx 2.5 engine temps/settings????please help...
I had my hsn as high as 5 1/4 turns out. So high that I had to drain the cylinder and pipe. But it had lots of smoke! I even replaced the fuel line to eliminate the possibliby of a split or hole in the line creating a leaned condition. I don't know though. I haven't got it ready for fuel yet.

RE: T-Maxx 2.5 engine temps/settings????please help...
I had similar problems with mine getting excessively hot. I could keep it low by idling around, but when I would get the speeds up, it would reach well over 300F. Highest attained was 360F. I'm using an MIP onboard temp sensor for my readings. I even had a local shop mess with it for a while, even got on the phone with Traxxas and still no solution. I've pretty much given up on it for the last two years, but am thinking of getting it out again.

RE: Footys????
I've now got three built, and two more on the drawing board. They were a hit with my boys! I'm trying to find a way to use rechargable batteries that can be charged from outside the hull as radio batteries on aircraft are. As for sailing, my trial boat sails quite well. I'm just not big on the vang/boom setup initailly called for on the plans. On the subsequent boats I used a screw eye that fits around the mast and allows the sail full movement.

RE: Need help with a "Exclusive" 1 Meter
Outside of not knowing what that particular model is, you could try to use a mast designated for a US1M and adapt it to fit. Something of carbon fiber. Just an idea.

RE: Micro Boat
I was looking through Hobby Lobby's catalog the other day and found some planetary gear drives that could possibly work with your Mamba provided you have the space to place them in and the motors are mounted with screws just as the original. http://www.hobby-lobby.com/gear400.htm I hope this helps. It might must me when I decide to upgrade my Gecko!
