RE: NOTICE: Special Rules for JUNE DANVILLE EVENT
I saw the tank, it was a Tamiya King Tiger. The IR was mounted in the standard spot on the barrel in the stock Tamiya mount. it was shrouded. The owner grabbed one of his bulbs he had to set it up. It was crazy. he had fantastic range.

RE: NOTICE: Special Rules for JUNE DANVILLE EVENT

RE: NOTICE: Special Rules for JUNE DANVILLE EVENT
DBRC3 tanks use Tamiya receivers and their own emitters. I'll await the answer. I have a PZ IV and Panther configured that way.

RE: M-48 Patton conversion to RC Tank
Kenny's tracks and sprockets showed up today. William (Pattoncommander) you are correct, these tracks are wider so are the sprockets. The standard length M2 screw is not long enough. I have had to order longer screws. They look great. Photos and video will be coming. The latest update: YHRs DBRC3 with Benedini, Phil's new speaker for sound, custom made barrel, Kenny Kong tracks and weathering.

RE: Tank Newbie
Vs tanks are a different scale completely. You can get a HL as a starter. most of us would recommend the IR version because, while not perfect, it has barrel recoil already. In addition, they already have the flash installed. If you decide to get into IR battling, an upgrade to a DBRC or DBRC3 is not hard to do. It can be a stepped process for you this way. Grow as you want to. Guys on here will be happy to help you along the way.

RE: Buying a Tamiya tank
One thing to check, that is the ability to turn off the headlight. The Sherman and Pershing have the ability to turn the lights on and off. When battling many prefer the lights off. And yes, the Tiger is a great tank.

RE: New work.....
The next addition is the M48 Patton. Phil did the conversion to a working tank. It has a DBRC3 and Benedini sound (Thanks Dan for the custom sound). It is battle ready. The plug for the IR Receiver is on an ammo can on the loaders hatch. It was the only way I could get it up above the cupola. New tracks and sprockets are on order from Kenny Kong.

RE: New work.....
The above photo is a HL Panzer IV with Metal Tracks, DBRC3 with Benedini sound, Asiatam elevation and recoil unit. This started off gray and was repainted in Afrikakorps scheme. Yes it is battle ready. The upside of the DBRC3 is it uses the Tamiya IR Receiver. The plug is in the cupola.

Pattoncommander, I think I found the proper tracks: http://www.axels-modellbau-shop.de/katalog/en/116-Military/Metal-Tracks-116/Metaltrackset-Type-T84-for-Tamiya-Pershing-with-Rubber-Pads::7518.html They have mispriced them here. They are 163.00 shipped from Singapore

RE: M-48 Patton conversion to RC Tank
ORIGINAL: 1sgt Richards, I'm doing the same conversion. I plan on replacing the fixed suspension with shocks off of a HL Pershing. I know it won't be protypical as they are about twice the size but I think it will give it some nice working suspension. I also had planned on replacing the gun tibe with brass ( do you have any pics?) I plan on cutting the muzzle brake and recuperator off and drilling through them and using them on the brass barrle. Did you do the same ? Jim
Jim, thats exactly what I did with the barrel. I cut it off where the barrel met the recuperator. I carefully drilled through the recuperator, I then opened it up enough to insert the brass barrel. You will also need to drill out the mantle, it's solid also. I used plastic weld to hold it in place. I would like to see how your planning on doing the suspension. I'm definitely interested.

RE: M-48 Patton conversion to RC Tank
Dan, I assume you mean the loaders hatch. That's where I was thinking. I'm toying with actually affixing it to the hatch itself so I can close it up when not in use. Pattoncommander, I've tried to find the accurate tracks. Chunwai has a set on their website only there is no price listed. I may be out of luck here unless someone has a better idea. Kenny Kong does not have these tracks listed.

RE: M-48 Patton conversion to RC Tank
ORIGINAL: blitzkrieg65 Update, No video yet guys,, I found out that I could not drill through the cannon barrel so no cannon flash! But I have been working on making his spot light work as a spot light! This customer does not want to make this an IR Battle tank,, or that would have been a neat Idea pattoncommander to put the IR shot LED in there! It was a lot of little detail work in making the light but it came out pretty good! Also before I mounted it on the tank I went into the bathroom and closed the door turned the spotlight on and it lit up the bathroom so this tank might come in handy for a camping trip for the middle of the night trail guide! The Blitz RCTankWars.com
I know this is a necropost but this is an update on this particular tank. The barrel which was solid has been replacd with a brass barrel and it now has a flash uit in it. YHR put together a sound file of the M-48. That is now on the way so it will have the DBRC3 and Benedini sound card in it. I'm trying to decide where t mount the IR receiver. I need to mount it so the Commanders cupola doesn't block it. I would still like to figure out how to install suspension in the tank since it is fixed. I'll keep you all posted. Any ideas would be helpful.

Paint on ztz-99
Guys, my apologies I know this is on the forum somewhere and I wanted to send a PM. I am repainting my HL ZTZ-99. I am having a bear of a time figuring out what the "Dark Green" color is. The Medium Green and Tan are easy. I tried the recommendation of a couple of the 1/35 kits and the Dark green paints recommended were too light a shade. In all the photos the dark green appears almost a green black. Check out the photos here: http://www.army-technology.com/projects/type99chinese-main/type99chinese-main1.html any help would be appreciated.

RE: Hobby engine M1A1 Abrams
The Kenny Kong tracks are great. I have a set. The downside to them is that they add a lot of weight. I found that the weight slowed the tank down. For battling I went to the Tamiya Leopard tracks with the KK Abrams sprockets. This enhanced the performance of the tank. My Abrams has an ElMod (installed by Phil). His stainless steel gearboxes with 480 motors on them. I has to do some dremel work to install the flash. I am using the stock recoil (not the best). I am trying to figure out how to mount an asiatam unit in the tank. The inside of the turret is small. I know there are those that have used servos for the recoil. I would love to see how it's done.

RE: new heng long ztz 99a tank
The difference is the Turret front and the reactive armor on the side of the turret and the front top of the tank. This is the current production version.

RE: SFX7.0 OR Benedini TBS Mini?
I Love the DBRC3 and Benedini setups I've gotten from Dan, and he is great to work with. Right now I have the setup in a HL IR Panther G, A HL Panzer 4 and the HL ZTZ-99. We are also working on a setup for another tank that will be posted when installed. What I love, besides the sound, is that it can be used with the Tamiya TBS apple.
