RE: Classic 40/45 power choice?
OS FS 62v will this engine work in Citation 45 or other classic design? Weight appears to be about 2 ounces heavier than 2 stroke will turn 11 x 8 nicely. Tim

Classic 40/45 power choice?
What is one the availability of good 40/45 size engines especially in rear exhaust? Should 4 stroke be considered or electric conversion? I think we need to consider different opinions on the forum about this issue. There seems to be interest in a project for a classic 40/45-size plane so a discussion about power would be helpful for me. Thanks Tim

Vote for 40/45 classic rekit design
After asking question about interest in kiting 40/45 size classic design there seem to be enough curiosity in having poll to settle on design or designs for production? Please vote for one and let your friends know about poll. Remember 40/45 size Thanks Tim

40/45 size Classics
The thread on keeping classic designs alive has interesting post by Doxilla on remaking 40/45 size classic pattern models. I believe we should discuss this further and see how much interest is available for 40 size models. I will add David's post below. Tim Given that Don and others have the 60 size classics covered, I have been working a bit on filling the void in the 40 size space. The Minare (Curare 40) could be done but I believe there are several Curare options out there today and another one is not particularly deserving. Maybe I'm wrong. On the other hand I have a pretty nice drawn up version of a 25-32 size Tiporare and it would be doable to convert that to a 46 size version for the production of a few kits. In fact, Phil and I have been working on the 40 size design (which he'll build) but given my 25-32 size drawing I'm more inclined to want to fill the 46-55 size engine space. As for other designs I have pretty advanced drawings for both the Arrow 40 (MK) and the Citation 45 (Yoshioka) both designed for RE powerful 45-46's (i.e., OS VF's, YS FR's and Rossi R45's - this last albeit quite rare nowadays). The same goes for the Blue Angel 40 and the Thunder Bird 40 (both MK). Last but not least I have been thinking about the Yoshioka Dash-5 45 and finally 40 size versions of the Bootlegger, Brushfire, Calypso and Cutlass. The last of which is really a 50 size design as it stands and would likely do very well on anything between a strong 45 and a 55 provided it is re-designed to frame up lightly which I've mostly done. As for the Calypso, well, it is a design that was never kitted as framed up If there is interest in some laser cut kits of any of the designs mentioned, a thread could be started to discuss them. As I plan to cut one or two of these (probably not all) for myself at some point, I'd be happy to share that effort with anyone else interested as was done with the Dirty Birdy 40. We can start a thread to open the discussion and decide which one to do first. I'm happy to collaborate with anyone interested along the lines of what Doug and I (and Kevin) did with the Super Chipmunk 120 (thread on RCG). With the Dirty Birdy 40 I was also spurred into action and helped by a nice set of Polish your flying skills in the only CAD based RC Flight Simulator Now with Weapons and Game Levels CAD rib drawings provided to me by Jim. OS FS .95
Looking for information on this engine from people that have flown a OS .95v FS. How well has the engine performed and what about durability? With SPA approving this power plant for 2013 need all practical information and opinions available. Thanks Tim

I agree just bought a NIB surpass 1 .91 they are becoming hard to find. Lets hope that the rules can be changed to allow new engines from OS again. Tim

My name is still on YS list and who is to say Rossi won't go out of production? Get parts while available for either engines. I will admit that Rossi was stout in Huntsville on J. Strong's airplane. Tim

First electric?
Looking to try electric aerobatic aircraft for precision flight. I fly some classic pattern and would like to try electric in the most bang for buck catergory. I think 50 class motor plane size would be more visible for me than 30 class. Sebart Wind 50 is the size plane I have interest in but is there a lower cost model that will get me started in epower flight aerobatics? Looking to spend 600 on airframe, motor, and esc. May not be possible for that budget so if more dollars needed point that out also. Thanks Tim

YS 120 help
I have a YS 120 the first version with Hatori #674 muffler. I had header in my possession at one point but may have been lost in my house move years ago. What will work header wise today will be going on a Typhoon also first version? Pipe/muffler tunnel runs center of fuse open to bottom of plane. The engine will be soft mounted with Gator RC mount all suggestions would be great. Tim

RE: Typhoon restart
Dick was a true gentleman and friend to many people myself included. Jetmech43 he really liked all of Wolfgang's designs and flew Atlas before the Arrow and of course the Arrow with a Gold Head OPS 60 from Shamrock imports. Rick he judged many contest masters nats etc and would score based on the maneuver not the pilot performing the flight you earned the 10 and he would reward you for it. We would always be the last to leave our club flying field usually about 1 hour after dark and talked about many things more than just modeling, life in general several great memories. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Tim

Typhoon restart
Some years ago my good friend Richard "Dick" Austin and I stared building Typhoons the 1988 909 sq inch version. Dick had a heart attack at modeling event and he died doing what he loved being around modelers and rc planes. I lost interest in the hobby and after around 17 years have regained excitement for flying and will finish the build started so long ago. I will ask questions and seek advice here so check in on this build and give advice offer hints and so forth. Will add photo's. Tim
