RE: E85 tank stopper?
The gas stopper has been working for me. I have been running E85 in my Super Tigres for 3 seasons now. Also have discovered a new Tygon that is softer and lasts longer than the older stuff at McMaster-Carr. I use silicone about 2-3 inches on the muffler as Tygon doesn't take the heat. Tygon from the tank pressure fitting to withing about 2-3 inches from the muffler and the rest of the way to muffler with silicone.

Seagull Spacewalker II 1.20 engine choice
Bought a Seagull Spacewalker II 1.20 ARF at the Toledo show for a rediculous price. I have a couple motors sitting around and would like input on best fit for power and also the actual fit in the cowl. Sitting unsued are Super Tigre S-2000, S-2500, S-3000, Saito FS-150, Moki 1.80. Any ideas on these or should I think in another direction? Thanks in advance. Eric

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I have a problem with a Hangar 9 Twist 150 with a Saito 150 on it. Set plane up, broke the motor in on bench and combined the two and can't get the motor to draw fuel to save my life. It looks like the tank is low in this plane and no way to raise it. The center line of the carb is about 1/2-3/4" lower than the intake line out of the tank. Any experience out there with this? The 150 and 180 are recommended motors for this plane. The Twist 150 is not produced any more, maybe this is why. Thanks

Twin motor Funster
I have built an RCM Funster from a kit bought at Hobby-Lobby. I want to make it an electric twin and have never used electric motors. Can anyone help with what I would need for this .45 sized plane with twin electric motors. It will be slightly heavier built than standard. I fiberglassed the wing center for strength and enclosed the nose. I sheeted the turtle back and lifting stabilizer with 1/64th veneer birch. It will probably be covered with 21st Century fabric or Solartex. Don't know what is needed in way of motor size, if it needs two speed controllers, batteries needed for motors etc? It would be nice to be able to get a 15-20 minute flight out of the set up. I don't know if this is realistic or not. I am at the point in the build that I need to get all this going to proceed. Any suggestions for this project?

RE: HD quality or gyro video stabilization
I think just take out the vibration if any of the motor. As for HD transmission I figured that it is not feasible. Just wanted to send down what the camera sees and get idea of whether it is a quality video or picture. This is really exciting what quality that people are getting with such simple setups. Amaizing technology these days. I just am some what of a perfectionist as many in this hobby are. Don't want to make costly mistakes when so many have tried out most of this before. Also am not much of a photographer. My wife has always has taken the pictures and made the home movies. My still digital camera is a Nikon D70 and is a little heavy and expensive to be flying around with. I have been out of RC for 12 years and just got back into it. The technology change in that time is staggering. Went to all 2.4 ghz radio equipment but not made the plunge into electrics yet for power. I know nothing about that at this point. Thank you for your reply.

HD quality or gyro video stabilization
Am looking to get into the AP end of RC. Interested in the Aiptek line of video/still camcorders. The high resolution HD max 1440x1080 (30 FPS) vs. 720x480 (30 FPS) with gyro video stabilization. Anyone have an opinion? Will start with mounting on a Sr. Telemaster with Super Tigre S90-K motor. We are building some new schools in our area and would like to document the project with video and still pictures. Also would like to know if you can take the video out and transmit it via 900 mhz transmitter real time to the ground and see what the camcorder sees? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Eric

RE: Senior Telemaster Engines
I have a Sr. and put a Super Tigre S90-K that I found new in box on here. Go with power because these big hogs like to float and you can use a big low pitch prop for a break when you land. A 15-6 or even a 16-4.
ORIGINAL: PlaneKrazee A gallon of super technoplate is $63.60 shipped. That's $12.60 per gallon of fuel mixed at 20%. Add in the cost for E85 and it's over $14.00 a gallon. Will need to use a gas stopper and can't use sullivan flex tanks or silicone fuel tubing. When I purchase my fuel, I order 8 cases at a time from my LHS and get 5% nitro 20% oil Byron fuel for less, shipped! Good fuel and performance. RE: BME G.90 gas
ORIGINAL: Ed Cregger N2ECW It should work equally well with four-strokes in addition to two-strokes. The octane rating of the ethanol/gasoline combo should be high enough not to cause preignition problems. I favor the spark ignition system because it permits one to tune the mixture much leaner, without worrying about advancing the timing too much, as with a glow plug. The leaner mixture also reduces the amount of oil expelled by the engine. Power output will be down slightly from methanol and oil only, but you recover a tad bit of that by running a leaner mixture with the ethanol/gasoline combo, minus the boost of nitromethane you might have used in conventional fuel. Those desiring top performance will not be interested in this approach. Those happy with a little less power at a big savings in fuel cost will be shickled titless. Ed Cregger
If you don't want to sacrifice power put 1 part 15-30% nitro fuel to this E85 mix and you get the pop you want for more performance. So you are running this E85 blend 2 parts and one part nitro fuel. Still a big cost savings and yet have some performance. This works well in the cold times of the year as well. Like we are having here in Ohio right now. 7F with -5 windchill.

RE: BME G.90 gas
ORIGINAL: Pit-Viper 1 Ed, does this work mainly with 2-strokes? I have mostly 4 strokes in my fleet and would love to convert them to gas but without having to add the weight of ignition. I do have a ST S75 that I think I will try your mixture with. Here's a question, seeing how the ethanol in gas is bad for our little motors. What about using Coleman white fuel? It seems to be a growing trend as it is 100% unleaded fuel. It is a little more expensive than pump gas, yet less than half the price of nitro. [link]http://www.idealtruevalue.com/servlet/the-45832/Detail[/link] Shane
Coleman fuel is just high grade, no impurities unleaded. If you are going the ignition route and running gas it probably is the way to go for quality, ease and smell. I don't want to sacrifice any weight. Therefore use glow engines with no ignition on the E85 type fuel. About 300 rpm performance loss is all and the cost per gallon with oil is $7.00 or less. With the correct tuning and the right plug I see no kneed for ignigition and battery weight. The dedicated gassers are also heavy for the power they produce. Whe you see the idle speeds and transitions of the big Tigres and Moki's I have it will convince you that ignitions are not needed with this set up. I am working on a video, but don't want to publish it until the spreadsheets of data are all done to show the supporting info to the actual video. The oil mixtures, etc. are based on temperature of 15% nitro Cool Power fuel and used the right amount of oil to match those temperatures and protection. When I'm satified with the numbers being accurate and the video is finished as well I will publish it here in this thread. Motors I will be using in the test range from: S2000 Super Tigre, 1.8 Moki, 1.00 NX Evolution, S-90K Super Tigre, FP40 O.S. Max, FP25 O.S. MAX, Saito 150 to name a few. I will run them on 18-20% oil mixture depending on the motor. O.S. F glow plug. Will take head and exhaust temperatures with the Cool Power and the E85 and use tach readings with various props. If anyone can think of something else they want to see in this testing by all means ask and if it is worth doing I will include them. Eric

RE: BME G.90 gas
The E85 here dropped to 178.9 per gallon yesterday. There is no need for a spark plug and ignition. But if you desire to run the plane's weight up that is your business. The E-85 runs like glow fuel except there is no nitro in the mix. Instead there is about 15% gasoline. It will burn with the same results as glow except the replacement of standard 2 stroke glow plugs with an O.S. F four stroke plug. A tank of E85 lasts longer than glow and less that gas. I gave been making test runs with different motors to see how well, how long, and importantly how hot all my motors run on this mixture. For the most part many of my engines new and old run on E85 with 18% Klotz Supertechniplate (80% syn, 20% castor). AGAIN REMEMBER THAT WITHOUT THE HIGHER TUNGSTEN O.S. F four stroke plug you will have rough midrange and no smooth idle. When all my studies and calcualations are finished my intensions are to post them in video form for the non-beleivers. You Super Tigre owners will see the value of your large bore monster Tigres become very appealing with this fuel method. I will demonstrate inverted mounting of a S2000, Moki 1.8 and show you that not only these motors run on E85, but the run inverted as well. The interesting about this is the temperatures that I am taking with infrared thermometer. The E85 is actually running cooler in some applications. Will publish numbers when the spreadsheet is finished. That's all for now. Back to work Eric

Why have none of you just run the $130.00 dollar glow version G90 on E85 for $179.9/gallon with a little Klotz or your preferred oil at about 18% and an O.S. F plug? I have been doing this and have great success. In fact all my glow engines are running on no nitro. It is very inexpensive and reliable fuel.

RE: Hand Crafted 1-of-a-Kind RC Planes
I live in northwest Ohio and a member of a club there. We have taken collections of deceased flyers like your dad's to swap meets and sold the items for the widow in the past. I'm sure that we could do the same for you and your mom if it wasn't too far away logistically for us. If this interests you let me know because this is the time of the year all the swap meets are going on in Ohio and Indiana where we go. If this is not what she wants to do, I could probably take the time to help you with what some of the stuff is worth and help you list it on here or Ebay if that is more of what she would want. There are many people that would cherish the stick built models just like your dad did. Please don't think that they would not be appreciated and destroy them.

RE: Conversion to Gas?
You don't have to convert anything on the big Tigers. Run E85 from the gas station at 1.99 a gallon and put in 12-18% oil depending on the model you have. The S2000,2500 and 3000 run on 18% oil (15% synthetic 3% castor) and the S2300, 4500 run on 12% oil (10% synthetic 2% castor). Just change your glow plug to an OS F and it will run like a top even inverted without on board glow driver. It is the best fuel for you Super Tigers. I have been running this and checking head and exhaust temp with laser thermometer and with that mix the temps are identical to glow fuel.

RE: Super Tigre GS45 Problem: Can't Keep Muffer On!
I too have never used a gasket on any of my ST engines. Most of the time I just run on test stand or plane and get them hot and retighten the bolts afterwards. Never ever lost a muffler or manifold. Check to see if your bolts mate to the cylinder body well by inserting them without the manifold on and see if there is any play in them. If there is you just had a motor made that was machined with old tooling that was worn out. In that case you may need some BLUE or PURPLE thread sealer. Don't use the RED it is thread locker and harder to get off.

He is right handed and they are taking off the right arm and the shoulder. He will be starting over for sure and will only be able to use his left hand. A single stick would probably be his best option. If they had a throttle control that was easy to get to with his left hand aileron and elevator would probably be good enough. We could always mix in rudder if he desired. I will check our Radio South. Thank you to all. He is a great club member and taught many new members to fly. Spring tension on throttle
I have a 34cc Briggs & Stratton Fource 4 cylcle motor converted for aircraft. I made a spacer for the carb and cut the spring tension back on the throttle. It will run at idle or with the choke almost closed. I thought it may be sucking air. Checked the gaskets and they are not leaking. I think when I trimmed the spring for less tension that without the tension it leaks in air around the barrel. Any thoughts on changing the carb or fixing this problem. I don't want that spring tension on the servo all the time so would like to find a more RC friendly carb with less tension and easy movement. Thanks, Eric
