RE: Flyin King Takeoffs

RE: 1st seaplane
Seamasters are far easier to fly than a Cub on floats and way more fun. Just be sure to air out the fuse after each flight or it will get some nasty mould down in the tail area. I have a Saito 65 4 stroke in mine and it is a great flying plane.

RE: Flyin King Takeoffs
Thanks to all who responded to my question. I moved the gear back and gave it some toe-in and it tracks great. Now that I have the take-off problem solved I am enjoying flying it alot more and it flies GREAT. Bill

RE: Flyin King Takeoffs
Thanks for the help guys. I give it a liitle toe in so I'll see what that does. I forgot that I had moved the landing gear ahead about 3/4" ahead when I put it on floats so I'll try putting it back where it should be. I do seem to have better results when I give it full power rather than gradually applying power. I'll report back with the results. Thanks again, Bill.

Flyin King Takeoffs
I love my Flyin King but I have a heck of a time with it on takeoffs. I built it as a tail dragger as per the plans and have a Thunder Tiger 91 4 stroke in it. The throws are all as per instructions. It flies great once airborne but the takeoffs are a little on the wild side. It seems like the rudder doesn't have enough authority so I have increased the throws with not much if any difference. It is really hard to keep it going straight during the takeoff roll until it gets to flying speed. Landing is fairly normal but it does get hard to keep it going straight when it slows down a bit. Any suggestions?? Bill

RE: How many building a Hog Bipe
I just made my maiden flight on my Hog Bipe a couple of nights ago. This is my second Hog and I used the same engine (Rossi 60) that was on my first one. I am not happy with the performance but I'm going to try a different prop. I have a 11x7 on it now and it is very doggy. Anyway I'll try posting a couple of pics.

Hog Bipe maiden flight
I made my maiden flight tonight on my Hog Bipe. I have a Rossi 60 with an 11x7 prop on it which I used on a previous Bipe. I balanced it as per the instructions at 3-1/4". It acted really doggy almost like it wasn't going fast enough. I had many hours flying my old Bipe with the same engine/prop combo. The only thing different is I put a pitts style muffler on the Rossi because it was much lighter than the old clamp on style that was on it. I am getting about 11,000 rpm at max power. Should I try a different prop or does it sound like a balance issue??? Bill

G.P. Super Sportster 20 size
I am building this plane and am wondering about control setup? The only mention in the instruction is for the elevator. For the elevator there is a chart that gives elevator throws for different c.of g.'s. When they say 1/4" throw is that total travel or does it mean 1/4" up and 1/4" down? As I said there is no mention of rudder or aileron throws so I don't know what to do with them? Bill

Hi John The plans are in the very capable hands of the USPS. Postage was only $2.90 so don't worry about it. Only thing I ask is to get the plans back when you're done with them. Bill

RE: Dual aileron servos on Piper Cub
You have the right idea. Put them in the wing. Makes for a simpler installation. I always put the servo as close to the control surface to be moved as possible as long as it doesn't affect the c of g which of course it won't in your case. Bill

RE: Richmond RC and VMAR Engine Test Stand (Critical Failure)
I bought one of these stands and one of the wood firewalls fell apart while I was putting it together. I bought it based on the review I read here on RCU as well. The overall quality was less then impressive. I had to redrill most of the holes and the bolts etc were junk. I know I could have repaired it but it ticks me off to pay good money and get junk. Fortunatley I contacted HobbyHobby.com and they told me to return it. They refunded the whole price including shipping. I'm just glad it broke before I had an engine on it running at full throttle [&:]

RE: Seamaster Engine
The tail feathers look flimsy but they are pretty durable. I have had a few hard landings and a pretty severe encounter with the front of my pontoon boat and the tail is still intact. I use a 65 four stroke which is probably on the upper end of the scale. Bill
