RE: Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
ORIGINAL: crashcrash Li-Po battery safety revisited: Chemical Explanation LiPo batteries contain lithium. If lithium is exposed to air with even a slight amount of humidity, it can ignite, releasing hydrogen and other chemicals. Hydrogen is extremely explosive, and is ignited by the burning lithium, resulting in a violent flare-up. Physical Process The usual cause of flare-ups is mishandling, which causes a buildup of gas in the battery, leading to a characteristic ''LiPo puff'' the swelling of the battery package. If the ''puff'' is large enough, the package may rupture, exposing the lithium to air. Non-LiPo Chargers LiPo batteries require chargers made specifically for them. Using the wrong type of charger is likely to cause a flare-up. Overloading If too much current is drawn (''overloading''), the battery will become very hot and release gas internally (puffing). The battery will rupture, exposing the lithium to air, resulting in a fire. Physical Damage Anything that breaks open a LiPo battery pack, even a small puncture, will likely result in a fire. [:D] Make sure you re-balance after you put the new prop on. E props are usually much lighter.

Vic, She looks great![8D] They redesigned it sense my last one. The tail dips more towards the front, not needing the dorsal fin and the ailerons are cut different. Your going to love the snot out of her! Don't fly it at full throttle just @ take off. Half throttle if the motor is tuned well will make this plane cruise. This plane will slow down for landings like you won't believe but try it up high on the first flight. Get it to stall and see if a wings dips and at what speed. I miss my Uproars! JPEE, Good to hear Rick's out of bed but I hope the doc can give him better news. You can buy or make spacers for your motor mount. That sell plastic ones and they work well. I've used cut off arrow shafts before. You just have to get the right length screws or buy them long and dremel them off. Eric, Good to see another birth of a plane flier! Fantastic[8D] God Bless, Jay Pic of the Cub's motor mounted on the stand-off's. It's a very sturdy way to mount the motor. It's the equivalent of a .32 glow motor. Second pic is mine P-51 with the motor and stand-offs.
ORIGINAL: Wnuk JPEE- The interesting thing that I see here is that the more expensive a model one has, the less they fly it. I think this is the reason the 450's are so popular. I know I was the same way with planks when I was flying them a lot. The more I put into a model, the less I actually flew it for fear of damaging it. Always interesting to see numbers. Thanks for sharing. Jim
Jim, That's exactly correct when I fly my planes and more so with the heli's. I rarely put my T-Rex up now but every now and then I get the urge. The thought of the expense of crashing it keeps it grounded, as well of keeping it nice for a scale fuse[:D] ( I swear I'm going to do a Hughes! ) JPEE, You shortened that T-28 up a bit! I hope she get back in the air soon[;)] Dave, Holy smokes you take a great picture... as long as your holding that 600 in your hands! J/K That's an awesome piece. Well done on the build and catching the loose/missing stuff the second time around. A double check or even more can save a lot of hassle. I've caught missing servo horn screws after a flight before, YIKES! Jeff, Great video but not the usual spot? I hit one of those fences for sure. You were certainly pushing that set-up. You could drag race your heli's! Seriously![8D] I Pray all are well and Rick's back is Healed! Jay

Thank-you guys very much! It was crazy when I hit that tree. There were a few people that had stopped to watch me fly and after I landed a few guys walked up to see what the damage was. They were astounded to see that the wing was fully intact. I couldn't believe the size of the branch that broke off. I was truly Blessed to have kept on flying and Blessed to have it on video... what an experience! The true reality is that it seems that my depth perception is starting to fade. Kind of a bad thing but I guess I need to stop pressing the issue on making things "close"[&o] I've enjoyed 34 yrs of good eyes and it looks like I'm starting to "see" a change. God Bless Y'all, Jay

Eric, That's to funny but you have to try out the stuff to get a feel for where it takes video and such. Sounds like you had a great time! Jim, I think the Decathlon would shake the snot out of a camera. You'd have to pad the mount with a lot of foam... not that it couldn't be done. Some cameras are more susceptible to vibration. You just gotta try it and post it here[:D] With smoke please!
