RE: Nemesis - Finally
It's recommended that you DONT use a RotoStart until AFTER you have run at LEAST a gallon of fuel. The compression is high enough to damage the roto unit at first. This recommendation also comes from CEN themselves

RE: Diff Cup Damage
I ran across this same issue when locking my center diff. My solution worked out just fine. I used a Dremel tool with an emery cut-off wheel, and cut grooves in the heads of the screws, thus making them slotted head screws. Use a good quality screwdriver (prefferably hollow ground), and removing them was a snap.

RE: gst 7.7 ?????
ORIGINAL: The Real Dogman The Nemesis Diffs and Front Drive Shaft are common(And Needed IMO) upgrades. The GST is essentially the same as the Genesis LE with a Nemesis tranny case for the MTM breaks. The Center diff is in fact the Genesis Diff with spacers to fit in the nemesis case, so you will have the same problems in the drivetrain(tho not many) as the Genesis LE. I have a list of part #'s of what it would take to convert to the Steel front drive shaft if you need them(I'm at work so it will be this evening when I can post them)
Ok so whats the difference between the Nemi diffs and the GST ones. Are the Nemi diffs THAT much better, or is it just the steel front driveshaft that makes the difference?. My GST is still in limbo anyway, so if i need the Nemi diffs i might as well do it now.

RE: I finally did it....!
Personal preference i'm sure, but 2 144oz servos installed in the Dual Steering Servo mod is likely cheaper than a high end servo. Just my 2 cents. Besides the mod is a blast [8D] Gratz on the GST either way, i never had so much fun!!!!!!! P.S. Would love to hear a Nemi vs GST review myself [:D]

Likewise, i have to give Clermont props. I havent ordered anything as of yet, but he sent me that backplate for the roto start just cause he's a good guy. I will definately be shopping his place when my need for parts arises in the future. Thanx again Clermont !!!!!!! [8D]

RE: Question regarding compression
Also, yes, burnt fuel showing on the manifold IS a problem, in all likelyhood you need to replace the exhaust gasket.

Learning experience
Started to do my teardown friday night after work. Was supposed to be a normal maintenance, and to get a grip on TRD's dual steering servo mod. (Oh yeah, and to fix that brake issue which caused the wife much pain and agony :p ) On close examination, i noticed several issues. Some small, some not so small. First, i noticed i had the same issue as DarkFire989 with burnt fuel all over the exhaust manifold (I guess it COULD be because of the gasket, see pic [8|]) Also noticed that nearly all the linkage for the rear brakes was missing, the tiny screw in the top of the post that holds brake lever in place came loose, and the lever fell out.(The front brake lever screw was loose as well, but didnt fall apart, just had no brakes.) This wont be a problem since i am going to follow TRD's recommendation, and lose the rear brakes anyway. ( I also have a groove showing up on my clutch bell from the dicsc flexing) Also, when i was taking the front end off, i was missing the screw for the top of the servo saver. There were other screws loose and such, but all in all, nothing too serious. On a good note, my overheating wasn't as bad as it seemed i guess. I took the head off the engine, and the cylinder and piston look fine. No scores or scratches, no foreign matter in the bore, and everything appears to still be a tight fit, with no play. So i'll have a back-up piston, sleeve, and rod now :) I'm also about 2/3 done with the dual servo mod :) This thing is a blast, even when it's not running [:D]

NX76 Piston and sleeve
Anyone know where i can get a piston & sleeve for the gst? Not that im POSITIVE i need one, but i have had a few overheating troubles, and TRD suggested that life expectancy may be reduced, i figured since i am in for a complete teardown anyway, i might as well do the parts swap now rather than later. Also, if there are other parts needed for this repair ( such as head gasket and so on) can someone please point me in the right direction?

RE: 4 Wheel Steering on GST?
ORIGINAL: The Real Dogman Stronger Servo Power Is THE Answer!!!!! Weather you do the dual servo mod or add a servo with close 300oz of torque. This truck requires alot of steering power especially at speed.... Turning one way better than the other is the EPA(End Point Adjustment) on your computer Transmitter. You might Have to turn up the EPA in the left direction. Hope this helps fellas!!! EDIT ADDED: I will be doing a Write-up on the Dual Steering Mod very soon, as soon as I get a moment when I am not working on one of my toher trucks!! RE: Center diff lock question
Hey TRD, and DarkFire, thx for the info. Looks like i will be locking my center diff if the difference is that much, and the added wear is nominal. As for the heat issue, i used a heat gun alll day on the motor, and I had no overheating issues at all.(temps were near 240 as mentioned and slightly higher, maybe 260ish.) At least not until i adjusted the brakes. But thinking back, i believe i adjusted the brakes, AND started running with the body ON at the same time (tanks #5 AND 6 I ran with no body, since I was running so slow.) As for too lean???, if that is the trouble then i have a leak somewhere, cause all through break-in my temps were around the 240 mark, and i havent touched HSN since....... the only adj i made was the Idle since, as the engine broke in, the idle went up considerably and i had to back it off now and then. I'll double check the brakes today AND cut out my windshield. If i can't figger it out, i will indeed post pics as requested. Man this thing is as much fun to work on as it is to run. Not at all like my WarHead that thing runs ofr 1/2 tank and breaks, I have yet to get a full day bashing with it, and it's not a month old.

Center diff lock question
Well, i had the weather today and the time to finish breaking in the engine, I have 7 tanks thru it now, and WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WAHT A RIDE!!!!! Still running it quite rich, and only in my buddies yard, but man..........I gunned it coming srt8 towards me, and I could SEE the front tires go OVAL!!!!!!!! I have a couple questions for the wizards here though. 1)What is the purpose of the diff lock? 2) More of an issue than a question....... I had NO brakes.......... had to drift to a stop, so i adjusted them a bit, and it SEEMED fine..................after a tank or so of running, it began to bog down, and sounded funny, so i killed it, and noticed smoke....more than normal. HEad temp read 366 degrees........ I have to figure the brakes were set too tight and making the motor struggle, and causing it to overheat... So my question is, how do you find the RIGHT spot for the brakes? I find that if i back them off even SLIGHTLY, i have none, but if i try to take them up SLIGHTLY, it's too much. Is there some sort of measurment somewhere, or a guage?

Weakest GST/Nemesis Parts?
Since i am not so much worried about running my car ASAP, and plan on doing all the mods and upgrades first. I'd like some input about what the MOST troublesome parts/issues are with the GST/Nemesis, and what upgrades/mods are available to fix the "hot-spots" I know reading through the forums is a valuable source of information, and most likely everything is answered ( most likely more than once ) but i thought it might be helpful to consolidate the issues in one thread, perhaps so that in the future a new owner can be pointed here. It would also be kewl to see the MODS listed that are optional. I have seen some pretty wicked stuff here, alot of it by The Real Dogman, that looks awsome!! (e.g. Air filter mod(s), full cage for the Nemesis, and the Dual Steering Servo mod). I think things like this should be located in a central place so everyone can find it easily, instead of searching through endless pages of the forum(s). Good idea? Just my thoughts [8D]

GST Arrived....... OUCH!!!!!!!
Man is this thing HUGE, I had no idea!!!!!!! The neighbor stopped by to see it, said "Yeah that's about the size of my LST......... LMAO.............can't wait till we get them side-by-side [:)] He's in for an awakening for sure!!!!!! [:D] This baby makes my WarHead ( yes broken down [:@] ) look like a matchbox car!!! Anyway the OUCH in the subject was because of my "Pull start blisters" lol, makes it a bit tough to type as well. I managed to get it started for a bit ( 1/2 tank anyway ) but i had to give up for the evening........ Wife had other plans for me ( not always a bad thing [;)]) First observation is this thing is BUILT!!!! Everything about it is big, beefy turnbuclkes, scary motor size, HUGE tires...... all i can say is WOW!!!!!!!! It's really killing me to get it out and dirty, but i think i will strip it down, complete the mods i want applied, and put it all back together solid. I don't want to get myself all cranked up, and NOT do the mods i want. Also, dont want to have to do all the "setup" twice. Ordering the one piece gears, the parts for the steel front driveshaft today. While i'm waiting for them, i will be doing TRD's dual steering servo mod (thanks for the info TRD you're THE MAN!!!!!!!).
