Great work so far Thomas, All us Luft fans are lurking here checking out your work. I still have those He-162 plan's here too and have thought many a time that I should sit down and correct the errors in the scale outline of the drawings but just have never got there... BTW, what happened to the F-14? Thanks dave

RE: Bell X-1
Nice, good size too. I ended up getting a book on the X-1 and using the 3-views form there to make some templates so I can hotwire a fuse and wings for a 48" PSS version. Got about that far, and also planned to try and stick a electric motor in it's rear but it's been sitting there for a while now...[&o] too many other projects on the table right now. Thanks dave

RE: ESM FW D-9
ORIGINAL: kwik But Dave, going from 19x10 to 22x10 ? Then rpm will drop from 6500 to 5600...meaning speed in the air will drop ? And hp drops too....can you tell me your thoughts behind this? Is it something you experienced? That the performance was better with 22x10 than with 19x10 ?
Hi Kwik, Sorry for the delay in responding. I could not log onto RCU because it was being blocked by my virus detector, and then I forgot! Yes I understand that the air speed may drop because the motor is turning slower, but you also have 3" more blade producing more push!! Is it something I experienced? YES!! I have now over 40 flights with the 22x10 prop on my Dora and it's just perfect! Please see my video for the performance I am getting. Thanks dave

RE: Yellow Aircraft f/a-18 single biuld
Hey Andy, Looking great Mate!!! What's your target AUW for the hornet? I have the K-80 and would love for it to go into a scale airframe..... just seems like the market is a little light on for that sized scale model. they are either a little too big to get them off grass with a k-80 or a little too small and the extra weight makes them a bit of a handful. Missed you guys at the airshow last weekend. Nothing overly new or exciting there. only one jet in the air at a time[8|]. no much point really seeing as it was only me and the Glenn with his Mibo A-10. Thanks dave

RE: ESM FW D-9
ORIGINAL: kwik Ticketec, 22x10 at 5600 rpm means we have exactly the same numbers. Here is a video of the test flight; As you can see I need more power at takeoff. 19x10 at 6500 rpm barely made it, and it is too slow in flight. I might have to abandon this engine, but there are no alternatives regarding gas twins strong enough, and that will fit inside the cowling. Too good to be true

RE: k-80 needs new home
I'm kind of in the same boat. Just recently upgraded the turbine in my falcon 120 from a wren 54 to the k-80F and man what a change! but I'm now looking for something more scale to fly. All the F-16's I have seen fly land like a lawn dart. Even my Byron F-16 started becoming more interesting to land as the weight went up so I am looking for something else... I like the DerJets Vampire but at $4500 for the ARF it's up there, but they say that on a K80 it's a little marginal for takeoff's on grass. the same with the 1/5.5 skymaster hawk 100, Would love to get that model but a little marginal for grass takeoffs. So there seem like there a little bit of a lack of models out there for 80N sized turbines that are actually scale.... Thanks dave

RE: waco 40% scale-video
I've held that model back while he's done engine runs just with the Moki going, Man that's got a massive amount of thrust alone!!! When I've seen it fly he either uses the turbine or the moki at any one time, i.e. the other engine is just idling. Unlike the fullsized couterpart, the moki alone has got heaps of power for this sized model, and Chris doesn't mind throwing his models around either! Last I'd heard was that had removed the turbine from the waco. Thanks dave

RE: JR DMSS XG-11 in UK now
Oh! So it does come in a digital trim on the throttle version??[:)] It's one of the big reasons I haven't looked at upgrading to one of these!![8|] If turbines are the ONLY type of model you fly with this radio then I guess that's fine, but I fly lot's of other types of models and a manual trim is PITA. My mates 11X has it and It's one one big beef with the radio. Thanks Dave

RE: KingTech K-80
Hey Guy's I finally got the turbine mounted up and did two starts today. They both shot out a little bit of flame on startup, which I expected for the first start and all the lines would have needed to purge, but after running the turbine up to full power for about 30 sec and back down again a few times I shut down the turbine, waited for about a minute and then restarted it, so I didn't expect to see too much in the flame department[X(] is that common for the K-80F? Also what is an acceptable accel delay to use? The turbine was taking a bit more time to accel from idle than I was expecting. Thanks dave P.S. I bought the turbine 2nd hand with 48min run time from one of the kingtech dealer here in Oz, so the ECU had already "learned" the turbines response.
