just took my volcano epx pro brushless out yesterday and after a few minutes realized the rear wheels were not powered? i guess i mean only the front wheels were pulling the truck? Does this sound like a quick fix or am in for something deep? thanks in advance :-)

RE: REPEATEDLY STRIPPING SPUR GEAR HELP!
thanks for the help, i think i'll be starting with the screws, the gears are rather new and i had already upgraded from the plastic spur gear that was getting chewed up constantly. Probalby a dumb question, but the screws you guys are referring to are the ones that old the pinion gear onto the motor and the screws that hold the spur gear down right?

REPEATEDLY STRIPPING SPUR GEAR HELP!
hello all, need some quick suggestions for my redcat volcano epx brushless pro. i had previously replaced the spur with the new steel replacement since i kept stripping the plastic ones with the lipo battery. The issue is, i cant drive the truck more than a few minutes b4 it strips loose from the pinion. Both are steel, but somehow, they just separate. I meshed them properly and tightened the bolts b4 using it, but it happens nonetheless. any suggestions out there??????

RE: help w/repair on my redcat
thanks all ok so inside that part (differential housing) is the gear. the gear has 2 wheel axles or wheel cups (i'm not sure what there called but the dogbone end attaches into this part). one of these have broken and i cant figure out how to get it out. I tried unscrewing it but its very difficult b/c i have to hold the other side tight and hold the gear so that they dont spin. I tried pulling it out also. I dont even know if it can b replaced, i may have to replace the gear and those 2 pieces may come attached into it. and its the volcano epx pro brushless if that helps. also i did post in the redcat section, but they sometimes take a while to respond and i hoped to get this thing running for this w/e but i guess that aint happening happy 4th [8|]

the blow up view unfortunately isnt helping me, i've tried to use it but to no avail, i just cant figure out how to remove the old axle joint, the gear box doesnt appear to b more than one piece so it seems that i need to remove the old broken part from the outside

help with repair on my volcano
figured i'd give this a shot, i'm trying to change the axle joint on my r/f wheel, its the end that attachs to the gear box. The front dog bone goes inside this piece on the inside (the outside dogbone attached to wheel axle). Buy Your Redcat Here, Best Prices on vehicles andparts Redcat part # 02051 is the gear box, i have an extra 02033 and i believe this is the right replacement part (the dogbone doesnt obviously stay in since only one end is attached). I cant seem to unscrew this broken axle joint (every time i do the wheels move). And i dont believe the gear box opens up, it appears to b one solid piece. Please help....... the blow up view doesnt seem to help

RE: SEARCHED BUT CANT FIND
ok, so i charged it at 3 amps this morning and it seems to b fine, i was under the assumption (after reading) that lipos had to b discharged thus the C rating. But i guess i was reading something wrong, or just didnt understand. So after i use it 4 a bit more, i'll try the balance option again to see if it charges the battery, otherwise, i' guess i 'll just balance it and then use the lipo charge function. thanks

SEARCHED BUT CANT FIND
Hello all, new entered into the lipo world, just got my 5000 mah 30c 7.4 volt lipo yesterday in the mail. just used it and i'm ready to charge/balance it with the imax b6 charger. I tried using the lipo balance option, but the unit did not charge my lipo, i then used the lipo charge mode. Does this mode also balance the lipo??? b4 charging i did discharge the lipo at 1a. I've searched online for answers, but found nothing, the manual is also not that helpful. I'll tell you one thing, my redcat volcano brushless tears @$$ with this lipo in it. thanks in advance.

sorry, i meant, i'm soldering the deans onto the wires that connect off the side of the charger (the red and black plug) correct? meaning i'm not removing a current connection and replacing it, i'm actually cutting and the soldering the wires that are plugged into the side of the charger (the pic above has the connections shows and the wires that plugged in first b4 the desired connection is plugged in)

new redcat owner w/a quick Q
hello i have the volcano epx pro brushless, looking to upgraded the stock 2000 mah nimh battery (its horrible). i was looking at 5000 mah batteries to get the most run time and possibly the 8.4 volt, i'm not ready for lipo's as i dont have the cash nor do i race the truck. I was told the pro match batteries are great for the price. my question is, what the easiest way to change the way the battery is mounted. i found a 7 cell 5000 mah on the pro match website http://www.promatchracing.com/proddetail.php?prod=5000-7M now they are a hump pack, so i know they can b assembled different ways, what is the best way and is it hard to change he battery tray set up?? your feedback is appreciated. thanx

quick advice from you novices
after some reading and research, seems like the pro match nimh batteries are great for the price. I'm looking to use it in my redcat volcano epx pro brushless. Stock battery is 2000 mah's and is 7.2v, i've been told an 8.4 v with about 4200 mah's would be great. i dont race the truck and i dont have the money for lipo's right now. I'm also looking to do as little modification as possible to my battery mount. the stock battery is about 5 1/4 " in length. any suggestions? also looking for a charger, nothing too fancy, i was directed to duratrax oynx charger and it runs about 80 dollars. would it be wrong of me just to go with a standard "smart charger" for about 30 dollars for these nimh batteries? any input would b great, like i said, i've pretty much decided on the brand, just unsure of the mah's and the charger thanks again all.

RE: quick Q for you novices
yeah, brain exploded ..............just got finished cleaning up any1 recommend a good and decent priced "smart charger" ? redcat website sells one, its 40$ and charges in about 1-2 hrs what kind of radio? i'm not sure, the instruction manual is terrible, all iknow is that its a 2 channel am, is it a pricey investment to upgrade to 2.4ghz ? are "venom" batteries any decent? if not, i think i'll go with promatch. thanks again for all the help, i understand the more volts and the more mah's, the hotter the motor will get, thats why i think i'm gonna stick with the middle of the rd 8.4v and hopefully 4-5000 mah's, i've installed the esc fan, so that should help a bit. this site has been a blessing and has resulted in a little less of me pulling out my hair strands out of frustration.
