RE: VStank hard tracks
Maybe the post wasn't meant to be sarcastic, but it certainly appeared that way. I've been on and off this tank board for quite a while, and I agree with Shenlonco I usually find myself driving the VS tanks more. I always want to repaint them, and do some modifications, but doggone it they just look and run too good from the factory. Shenlonco has went the HL electronics route in the VS tanks for full proportional control. And come on, tons of people on here gut the HL tanks and install better electronics. How cool would it be to go the El Mod route with a Spektrum radio in a VS tank!!??? Come on guys, someone has to do it eventually maybe it will be me someday!

By the way, the HL manufacturer offers great support???!!! They care nothing about American consumers, only their dealers like Bill at RCCommand, RC Tank Wars, and Mato Toys care enough about their customers to make things right when HLs are defective which is quite often.

RE: VStank hard tracks
No offense dude, but I and many others on here care about the VS tanks. Have you ever owned one? I own Heng Long, Matarro, and Vs tanks, so I can speak from experience. The VS tanks are actually better detailed, more dependable, about the same price, plus the added bonus of being available at Tower Hobbies and other convenient hobby shops. I'm not knocking HL or Matarro, because I like them all. My VS tanks kick the HLs tanks' butts outdoors. In back to back testing this weekend, my VS tanks did MUCH better in the grass thant the 1/16 scale tanks.

I got my tank in 4 days, good price, and didn't have to worry about it being broke in half or other foolishness when it arrived. Is this is the only time he has had a delay, I think it is acceptable. Go over and check the threads out about Banana Hobby if you want to hear about truly bad customer service.

RE: Creeping Death Thunder1 installed in Sherman
I have some questions for creepingdeathrc. I was interested in buying one of the old "non-full option" Shermans, but it does have the DMD for control. How is the Thunder1 installed in this setup? Where does the power to turn on the system come from (since it is mentioned that HL use power from the smoker lead)? Also, I tried to order one of your "ebooks" the other day, and the order would never go through with paypal. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks.

RE: Motor and ESC Question
Practically any good R/C car esc could run two 380 motors without breaking a sweat, of course you would have no mixing. But if you wanted to drive both tracks at the same time, that would be fine. For anyone else interested in a dedicated electronic speed control for a HL or other tank, I have ordered speed controls from robotmarketplace that worked really well. I had a Scorpion XL in my Pershing, and the Sabretooth is really good also.

RE: Need advice on my Matorro KT/build
That King Tiger looks stunning. I think the charging knight is the coolest of all insignias. I'm sure someone has done it before, but I have never seen the winter whitewash over the sort-of ambush pattern, as depicted on some of the decal sheet suggestions, so I think it would be neat for someone to do that.

RE: Need advice on my Matorro KT/build
I'm pretty excited about getting mine (hope the guy ships it soon!). I'm hoping the King Tiger is pretty decent out of the box, if not, I'm going the HL electronics route plus the metal gear boxes. It's funny, though, people bashed the Matorro Sturmtiger for the same reasons, but I found that mine was a decent performer. The speeds were good, the smoker worked good, and seemed to do good off road. Plus, I even ran metal tracks on the Sturmtiger for a little while with no problems (plastic gearboxes and all). I think I'm going with a basic repaint and go from there.

RE: Just starting need advice
I think RCCommand is in Texas. Yeah, the Bulldog is a great one to start with. It is considered one of the HL tanks in terms of offroad performance. I had one with plastic tracks and it never threw a track or broke a link. It is one of the easiest repaints, too. Just go to Advance Auto and buy a big can of olive drab camo paint and lay it on. Or just weather the factory finish to tone it down some. Most members on here consider the Bulldog to be one of the best HL tanks, even though, scale wise, it is slightly out of proportion.

RE: Just starting need advice
I, too ordered my Panzer IV from RCCommand. It took only 4 days to get it. Unlike ebay or oversees distributors, you don't really have to take a chance with RCCommand the tanks are tested before they leave. I have driven mine for several days now, and it works perfectly. The stock battery does suck, though I would definately recommend another hobby grade battery pack, but it will do the job for a while. I think the HL tanks are great values for the money, and definately give you that "hobby" feel - the possibilities for repaint, weathering, upgrades, etc. are endless. If you just like to play with the tanks, and are possibly looking for something to collect, the Marui and VS tanks are great. Most of the VS tanks can be had at Tower Hobbies (American mail-order company, very quick shipping and good service), for $120 each sometimes cheaper if you use their discount codes. VS tanks have great detail and milid weathering, are usually bullet-proof mechanically and electronically, and they can battle each other out of the box. The drawback no proportional speed, although you do have different speeds to choose from. Don't be concerned about the whole HL versus Tamiya debate if you can get a $1000+ for a Tamiya tank, go for it (has anyone else but me noticed that Tamiya tanks have rose dramatically in price this last year?). If not, the HLs are great for around $100. Without going into the whole idea of, "it will take you hundreds of dollars to make a HL as good as a Tamiya" keep in mind that just the opposite is true on the other end of the RC spectrum Tamiyas are the ones getting spanked on the race tracks by buggies, truggies, touring cars, etc. I've had more Tamiya stuff that I can remember over my R/C "career", and I can tell you that a HL tank is a "real" radio control tank. It is no less of a tank and no less fun because it is cheaper.

RE: Need advice on my Matorro KT/build
I'm probably in the same boat. I just bought one myself, except it is the green. I think I might do the ambush or just straight desert yellow with the proper decals. On your scheme (the pinkish version), I think it would look good (and be easier) to just take your airbrush and go over the pinkish/brown parts with the correct brown, and then weather with washes, etc. I don't think anyone has just painted over the pink parts it looks like that is the only thing wrong with that color scheme.

RCCommand = satisfaction
I just received my Panzer IV from RCCommand yesterday. It was a very good buying experience. Shipping was quick, the tank was tested so I know I wasn't getting a dud, and everything looked and worked perfectly out of the box. Will definately do business with again. I still can't figure out what seems to be a double shipping charge though[8|] Anyway, the Panzer IV is very nice, runs and drive very well, and I'm already in the process of a repaint and detail. It just goes to show you, no matter what the "elitists" say, you can have an awesome tank for a little over $100. If every distributor of Heng Long was like RCCommand, they have have a reputation for awesome tanks at a cheap price.

RE: AIRSOFT TANK BATTLE BB'S ARE HERE! 6mm Marking Airsoft BBs
Unfortunately, in my experience, lasers on real guns are the same way. If you set up a laser for 20-25 feet, it will be off on longer shots. Of course, lasers are intended for close encounters of the worst kind, and are designed to get you in the ball park.

RE: VS tank battles
Cool battle. I don't know if I ever saw a hit though![:D] I found the battle system on the VS tanks to be o.k., and we have had some great battles even though the Tiger is severely outclassed. It seems like I read on here somewhere that the T-72 is as slow as the Tiger. Since you have the T-72 and the Leo, is the Leo faster. For scale, the Tiger's speed is much more realistic. However, when your 10-year-old is trying to blow you off the face of the earth, a little bit more speed would be good!

RE: VS tank battles
Helicopters are strange. If you build an R/C car, truck, or tank, they pretty much hold together until something wears out. With a R/C heli, it could fly fine one day, and the next day go nuts and wind up smashed on the ground. I love 'em, but I have to take a break from helis every so often because they drive me nuts and send me toward financial ruin.

VS tank battles
After a couple of years off and on in R/C tanks, I finally have two VS tanks at the same time! In addition to my Tiger 1 mid production (snow camo), I now have a Leopard A6. Me and my son have got the battle outdoors in the back yard where my R/C car track used to be, and man they are fun! I assume it is not as good as 1/16 scale tank battles, but the VS are fun. It is a challenge to battle the Tiger against the Leopard because the Leopard will literally run circles around the Tiger in speed and agility. I'm surprised for the price that more armor clubs or people wishing to form a club don't buy these tanks to battle. They are fairly reliable, are the best looking RTR tanks in my opinion, and a fairly large battlefield could be made in the same place. While technically at the moment you are limited to 6 battling at one time (six frequencies), you could do the old R/C car trick (and this WILL work on the VS tanks, I have tried it) You can add six more frequencies by switching the other six tanks' receiver crystals and radio crystals (but the receiver in the radio and vice versa). If you do this, two tanks on the same channel won't interfere with each other, so technically you can have 12 battling at the same time!

Paint scheme for Panzer IV
Hello everyone. Even though I've started out again with VS Tanks, I couldn't resist the urge for another big tank, and since I've never had a Panzer IV before, I ordered a HL in the F2 version. I'm trying to get suggestions for a paint scheme. I want the tank to look pretty convincing, but I'm not hung up on every thing being perfectly accurate. I'm considering paint schemes from North Africa all the way to the Battle of the Buldge. I would really like to do the "ambush pattern", but I'm pretty sure all of those paint jobs were factory applied on Panthers and King Tigers. A Normady scheme of some kind would be nice, and I would like to know some possible turret numbers and eblems. I've done a lot of research on the net, and still can't find all the answers I'm looking for. One last thing, were there any Panzer IVs that were still solid gray by Normady? I did see one color photo of a F2 in the western front late in the war that was still solid desert yellow.
