RE: Chinook scale build
[image][/image][image][/image] Here are some pics of the CCPM setup, The pitch sliding mechanics have been removed. The rear tower will still use a differential trim servo.

RE: Chinook scale build
I have now decided to use helitronix for all the mixing, this means I can remove some of the mechanical mixing and use ccpm, This will make for a less complicated setup, It will also allow me to use a gyro in the differential pitch and should make adjustments easier.

RE: Performance of Robinson Heli?
I flew the R22 and it seems to fly great. I guess another alternative would be the H269.

RE: Chinook scale build
Heli flew in groud effect @35 amps so at 37 volts thats about 1300watts input, so I think even with the clothes on it will have reserve power, The motor is rated for 3100watts and was only warm after the test, the speedy was still cold and showed no signs of having done any work. So far I am happy with the results, Will continue more testing when the chargers arrive so I don't have to spend 8 hours to fill the cells up. For now i'll start fitting the fuse[:D]

Well, the Pully showed up and the motor and the speedy have finally been shipped, so I sould see them next week[:D], I can use the speedy to test my homebuilt brushless to maximum output. I am hoping for about 2000/2500watts output, but we will soon see.

RE: Chinook scale build
At the moment Im using 5 turns, 3 in hand of .56mm. I could up the gauge to 5 in hand, but it would make for a tight wind. I have only run on 3 cells at 40A for test but I can't wait to test on 10s when the speedy arrives[:D] I may need to change the data for 10s.[image][/image][image][/image]

RE: Chinook scale build
Yes I have, Alexdrift Hopfully I will receive them soon, I have also ordered new pullies to adjust the gear ratio to run at the motors rated output rpm. The convertion should go smooth However i'll have to make a longer shaft for the motor so I can use the pilot bearing on the other side of the pully

RE: 5 Blade head without mixer?
If you can fly helicopters, you shouldn't have problems with a multiblade head, you'll need to make sure the phasing is correct mechanicaly though as you will have no electronic swash rotation function availiable unless your radio does.

RE: Chinook scale build
I agree BarracudaHockey, oil smoke and noise is not the best for scale models. I think electric is the next best thing to turbines. The only downfall is you don't get the sweet smell of burnt jetA1[&o]

Thankyou mkranitz, I'll look into that, 2 x 10amp 5s packs would be easier to deal with, and charge.

Thanks mkranitz, I have made the decision to go electric, I have found some equipment That should match the .90 I am currently using, And ill be using 4 x 5000mAh 5s packs to produce a 10,000 mAh 10s.

RE: well
A .15 car engine would do the job as is, Why not just machine the head on the new engine down to size? and leave the pull start on as it may be convienient.

RE: Glitching = crash, any reccomendations?
I agree, Align offers good quality mechanics at an affordable price, however I would go for PCM at least if you can afford, but definatly 2.4 is the way to go. It could just save you money in the end[;)]

RE: Chinook scale build
I have been thinking of going electric for a more scale feel, and more importaintly less vibration. Anyone have ideas on suitable brushless motors and ESC that will do the job? The Align 90 flies the machine great but I could do without the noise, oil smoke, and vibration[:D] Converting to electric will be very easy, But finding suitable equipment is my prob.

I agree, its a hiller. The US army used them to train heli pilots before they changed to the H269. Somebody here should build a scale hiller[:D] c'mon whos up for it?[:)]

RE: How many channels do I need on my TX for this:
There is aileron, elevator, thottle, pitch, rudder, + gyro gain makes 6 channels and 7 if you want govenor controll. But if you have gyro gain you'll need at least 6 for the heli so retracts will need 7. I would suggest you will really be wishing you had atleast 7 channels and maybe 8 or 9 if you get into onboard start and lighting[:D]
