RE: A&M question
I "think" that the easy way to tell the 2.4 and the 2.0 apart is the cylinder bolt flange. The 2.0 has slots and the 2.4 is a solid base.

RE: ZENOAH G26 RPM
The bench mark prop is an APC 16-8 @8900 rpm. You need to get one and see what your engine does. If your engine is close.then you need to resize the Xoar till the engine is in its power band. IMHO an 18-8 Xoar is way to much prop.

RE: Walbro midrange adjustment
From a place far away and long ago, involving Amal, SU and Weber carbs, I have a set of tapered micro reamers. So much better than drills. Remove the low speed needle, squirt carb cleaner in and see which jets flow. Remove the welch plug and enlarge the hole closest to the center.

RE: Walbro midrange adjustment
On a Walbro the idle needle adjusts the idle and midrange. About all you can do is dismember the carb and remove the Welch plugs and make the midrange jet bigger. This would make the mid range rich even after you lean out the low speed. How much???? well thats why they sell bags of welch plugs.

RE: High rpm 20cc motors
I have a G20 in a .90 Seagull Yak. The engine has CH ignition and a Toni Clark pipe. APC 17x6 9200 rpm. The pipe is a broad power band quite pipe a more hard core pipe would raise the power. In transposing props a 14x10 on a serious pipe would be about the same rpm.

It is believed to be a Sachs 3.2 with a Bennett mount and B&B muffler. I can say that it weighs a ton, but for a warbird like the CMP 80'' Zero, that would be great. Anyone recognize this thing, or should I go fishing with a new post? [/quote] Thats NOT a Sachs its a Quadra 50/52

For simplicity call FPE and see if they will sell you a re-keyed prop hub. The hub will be between 27-30 degrees BTDC.

RE: FPE 2.4 Ridge Ignition
The FPE has a straight shaft and the key is required. The sensor is glued in a groove in the crankcase you would need to remove it and file the sensor mounting groove round. Then use some sort of clamp on sensor. The sensor is also bent 90 at the end because the magnet is in the back of the hub and not the side.

RE: FPE 2.4 Ridge Ignition
The FPE 2.4 ill need a new re timed prop hub to get max benefits from the new ignition. Or you have to move the sensor.

RE: Webra Bully and Walbro carb help
Fuel stand off or fuel reversion is often the result of too big a carb and too low an rpm.. Change the prop to an 18x8. Just check the pump port that hole goes into the crankcase AND the manifold matches the pump hole in the carb. TKG

Check that the pump port is lined and working correctly. Your description sounds like a Walbro running on suction and not pump action.

RE: Webra Bully and Walbro carb help
Get one of the RCEXL testers and set the rpm for around 12,000. Take on old spark plug and cut the side electrode OFF. In open air a good ignition will fire the gap.

If the CH unit is in a silver/aluminum box then it should be OK. If its in a brown box then its a paper weight.

A CH unit will have SS engraved on the back cover if its a computer unit. If not a fixed unit will only effect idle not WOT.

To low and the engine acceleration suffers. To fast and the engine will surge or miss at WOT or may hole a pistion.

RE: Balance/harmonic issue
All singles vibrate, its the nature of the beast. Savvy designers can chose the rpm. Most of the chainsaw engines have a vibration node in the 3-4k range, but are smother at full throttle where they run for hours. I think that if you look at your engine you will see that you have added weight to the counter weight. In rare cases adding weight opposite does work. At the dawn of giant scale several people made good $$ "overbalancing" the Q35's
