RE: Any place to fly near Needles CA or Bullhead AZ?
Hey......drive out of the Edgewater Casino in Laughlin at the light....head straight up the hill. I believe its called Edison Drive. Take it 5 miles to the top of the road. you will see the high school on your right and you will pass the VFW. goto the top where it Ts at boulders Hwy and go straight through to the dirt road and keep driving about a mile. you will see a huge water damm/outlet in front of you and new construction on your left. Thats about the only area I have flow in Laughlin. You also can go back over on the bullhead side behind the hospital and where the new golf course is being built. A bunch of sweet hills there. Let me know if you need any other help. Later Gator

RE: AMA Discounts for Disabled Flyers
Hello Art. Due to my injury I have lost my house, in Littlerock....but now live north east out in the Lancaster hills, in a quiet town called Alta Vista. Just south of the base. The damm has had a complete facelift, and they have raised the spillway nearly 15 feet.....added some day use area picknick tables....and a few over night camp sites. They have opened up the back side of the damm for 4x4s and off road vehicles. The lake is stocked each and every thursday with 12" plus trout.....If you had fun back in the day.....its a whole new damm now :) Glad you know the area. Hope all goes well with the back Dr.......Things will get better......it just takes time to adjust to a new way of life :) Thanks

RE: AMA Discounts for Disabled Flyers
Thanks to all who have taken the time to share a little about themselfs. GrnBrt, is right as far as some of the tests done with dye. I have had numerous Discograms, which in turn is done with hitech cameras, then they wake you and ask if you can feel the pressure of the fluid they inject into the spinal canal and right into the disks. It was then I heard the nurses say "Dr.....its leaking out all over the place" next thing I new I was rushed again to the OR to try to mend or seal the leaking disks, and Anular tears. Loubud, Ramon, and to the many others that go through what I do each and every day.....My hats off to you. As far as the excellent question about the medications.......wow some people have no clue LOL Demoral ya right.....that was a good choice many years ago for me....but now I wake up to 210 mg of straight Morphine, followed by a few vicodine 10 grain chasers throughout the day.....the 750 ES just didnt seem to work anymore, then theres the numerous other pills they have.....and when the pain is totally un-bearable I just try to deal with it......because I would rather have a little or even alot of pain.....than not be able to function with my kids or other friends. Please remember......I have been prescribed these meds.......Its called Pain Mgt, and I see a Dr every month. Is it legal to drive......you betcha, because its prescribed. I have had Nanogram Tests done and though my levels might not be in the legal limits....its whats called a judgement call by the local authoritys and I have not been told to surrender my License as of yet. So does this mean I should not fly.......LOL in my case I crash so this rule doesnt apply :) but for a normal person who has control on there meds this is not an issue. I have made a bunch of new friends in this hobby, and thank God each and every day that I wake up. To the people who just dont get it......or didnt understand the original question............have a nice day.

Hello, I was wondering if there were any slope sites in the Bullhead Az or Laughlin Nv area. I am in Laughlin for a few weeks, and would like to check out some of the sites and meet local flyers. Thanks

RE: AMA Discounts for Disabled Flyers
I can no longer justify to pay the yearly dues. If that answeres your question..... Well....... Maybe I can. That wasnt the point. No place I fly at requires it. Only the club I went to did, but they never taught me so a guess it was a big waste of money, except for the cool mag I got with the membership. Now there are some local events that I really want to try some day.....they require it. sooooo who knows? If forced to buy then I will. I will have no choice but to either buy the membership, or not fly in an event. So many choices LOL God Bless Guru

RE: AMA Discounts for Disabled Flyers
WOW !!!!! I didnt expect to make so many people angry. All I wanted to know if there was a discount. Plain and simple......yes or no. About a year ago I did write a letter to someone....sorry I do not remember the name but I was told he was going to be the new president......or new area VP or District of tha AMA......heck I dont remember. It was a thread on one of the groups and I PMed him just after I was hurt and asked If I voted for him what could he do to look into the matter of a discount. I received an e mail back and it stated that he would look into the matter. I never heard another word from this man again. There are many programs for disabled people. I thought the AMA just might have something for a guy on a limited income, who doesnt fly very often. I know many have read other post by me.....yes I did make good money, before I was hurt. I do buy lots of R/C stuff and still do. I did belong to the AMA. I do not belong to any clubs as the local club only wanted my money and then told me to go buy a trainer plane and they would teach me. I showed up 2 diffrent times with my new plane and both times the instructor was out drinking the night before and never showed up in the morning. I gave up and never went back.I tried to learn to fly on my own. Guess what......... I crashed. Not once but many many times. I went crazy buying things on e bay....on the r/c message boards......meeting people hundreds of miles to pick up planes so I could try again. Still with the same outcome. I still am not a good flyer and crash pretty much every time I go out and try. So why should I renew my membership? All of the places I fly at dont require it. I put all of the glow and electric planes away in storage and learned about Slope Soaring from a few locals here in the board. Epp foam will bounce at 70mph straight into the ground. Pick it up....dust it off and try again. I guess in due time I will get better and some day I will pull out the other planes I put in storage, after I fix them, and try again. Many organizations offer discounts for many diffrent reasons......In fact heres a lil info that I will pass along. Carls Jr fast food resturant here in the Southern California area will let you purchase a 99 cent hamburger......and If you are disabled or a senior they through in a free small soft drink. Oh ya the drink is 1.29 (free) go figure. This is there way of saying thanks for doing business here. After all of the surgerys.....the moraphine pump.....drilling of the spine......electronic leads running through 4 disks to ease the pain. Yes I am considered disabled. I am in no way as bad off as many others I have come across. I can drive, I can type, I can fly (well sort of hahaha) I am not looking for a free hand out. Just wanted to know if the AMA might knock off 5 or 10 bucks for a guy in my situation. Yes I can afford the dues. but it didnt hurt to ask. If you dont ask for cream for your coffee........you get it black.....right? I was just asking. God Bless T.J.

RE: AMA Discounts for Disabled Flyers
I never intended this to be a "what will you do for me now" type of thread. It was a simple question. Is there some sort of discount. It really doesnt matter what it is for as it is not yours or any others, problem other than mine. Yes I love to fly, or should I say crash. I buy alot of diffrent r/c stuff from this board and a few others on the web. I am not a bad guy and do not want to be stereotyped, and nothing is expected in return. 58.00 dollars to me is money that I just wont spend. There is no where in the law that says I cant fly my r/c plane if I am not a member of the AMA. It just means I cant fly at certain spots. Hey no big deal. Tell you what. I will post a few more things in the for sale section ( so stay tuned ) and with the money I make I will pony up and re-new my membership. That way all you hard working guy out there will feel much better that I am not bilking from the system, and I am paying my fare share. Good day to you all T.J.

RE: AMA and local clubs
Thats why I like to fly from BLM land. They say that the AMA has no control over government land and no need to have an AMA card. Fly at your own risk. My kind flying site. Oh ya by the way I used to fly ar El Mirage Dry lake bed 1 mile wide x 6 miles + long. Do a search on here and you can see some nice pics.

RE: 1st Annual Speed Freak "MINE IS FASTER THEN YOURS" Run What You Brung, BBQ, get together?
Well we were going to have the El Mirage FunFly & Campout #3 at the end of sept. first of Oct ? This has been a yearly thing for a few of the Revver Brothers, that myself and wife have put on. With the help and company of Razor and his wonderful wife. In fact we had guys from all over showing up to this historic event. The San Fran Bay area, Fresno, Lone Pine, San Diego, Los Angeles area and many more places. Even had a full scale cessna land on the dry lake bed.....taxi up and tie off to the travel trailers.....pull a HotSpot jet from the back seat.........need I say anymore. We cooked 4 flats of eggs and 5 lbs of bacon and sausage each.....not to mention the homemade biscuits and gravy. The dinner ticket was Ribs and corn on the cob, homemade potato salad. For the grown ups we had plenty of beverages...... and jello shooters, margaritas, and Cuervo 1800 shooters by the camp fire, in the evenings. This is an event open to young and old for the whole family. Camping....Flying.......meet and greet, is whats it all about. I am open to some feedback, and glad that this thread finally got started once again as I have had many e mails as to when this non sanctioned event will take place :) This is one party you dont want to miss. Thanks T.J. The other Tim

AMA Discounts for Disabled Flyers
I have just one question. Does the AMA give a discount or some sort of lifetime membership for people who are 100% disabled for life? I can no longer afford to pay yearly dues, and have sent many e mails with unanswered questions, all being the same one I am asking here. I too would like to be part of the AMA, and fly at some of the best clubs or sites with ADA approved restrooms and parking. But under the circumstances, I guess I will have to fly without my AMA card at locations not approved, or catered to handicapped people. Thanks for the memories T.J. Kigar

RE: Revver #4 vs #5 Saturday
News Flash................... I just want to tell you what kind of guy Razor (James) is......after crashing my trainer. the guy went to the back of his truck and handed me a Greatplanes AT-6 warbird. Used condition but the offer was wonderful. I still have it to this day. I told Razor it was ok......that anyone could have hit the BIG ORANGE CONES right next to the camp site and I really wasnt upset. He told me he was just to tired....( insert drunk where tired is)........ to walk out to the flight line to retrieve my trainer so he decided to land it next to the travel trailer instead.........and the rest is history. Make El Mirage 3 and you too can be part of the fun T.J. The other Tim

I think the magic might be handy but mama wont let me take it camping with us LOL I did ask her if it was ok to disapear for a few hours and she said it wouldn't be a problem. Its only like 20 or so min to the lake bed. In fact I can see El Mirage from 8000 foot level over looking the desert from the camp site. If I had binoculars Im sure I would see dave putting a coat of wax on that plane of his getting it ready LOL I will be there at 6:45 am saturday with camera, and tripod. Thanks for the offer of the free maidens....Ill pass......if I remember I got video of you landing my trainer and knocking the engine and front gear completly off of it by hitting the BIG ORANGE CONE !!! RE: Revver #4 vs #5 Saturday
Call out for Razor Yo James...... Call out for Flyboy Yo Dave I just drove across the 1 mile wide by 6+ mile long dry lake bed. everything looks good. it is supposed to somewhere around 104 degrees today and who knows tomorrow. If this is going to happen you better make an early morning trip up this way, cuz you aint going to want to fly anything past 11:00 am. I am sure you know the monokote gets reallllll tight in the later part of the afternoon and I sure would hate for you guys to peel the skins of your ships during this world famous race. We need better planning as I didnt get to the silk screen shop to make the T-Shirts up yet. LOL I will have them for the El Mirage Fun Fly and Campout #3 I am planning in a few months when everything cools off up here. Let me know what time to meet everyone. I will have video camera in hand. Thanks #22 Tim

Fire near Vincent Mt
Just thought I would pass along the info..... fire in Southern California near Vincent Mt. The fire broke out last night at about 8 pm. as of 4 am this morning over 600 acres was burning out of control with only 10% contained. They called in a dozer team for the steep hill sides and have been dropping water with helicopters all night long. For those of you that know the area well. The fire is burning up in the hills west of the freeway and they fear it might jump the aquaduct, and head up the hill towards Vincent. I will keep you all posted if I hear anything on the scanner. Just think of the speeds that will be obtained if this hill burns clean and with a few windy days with no sagebrush or ground cover in its way, one can only imagine.....time will only tell what speeds the guys will be hitting.
