Would a .15 rimfire motor and a Master Airscrew 10x7 G/F Nylon electric propeller work good with this plane? Thanks. www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p

RE: my First scratch build
Hey king, I am building my first boat out of balsa as well. I just about finished drawing the plans for it and thought how I am going to water proof the balsa wood (which is the whole hull). Got any ideas?, Thanks, Tom.

RE: Esky Lama V3
Well, for this heli it all depends if you want to. Yes balancing them will make an ever so slightly change in performance through stability, unless the blades are very unbalanced. to Balance the blades, disassemble the top and bottom blade holders form the shaft, with the blades still attached. then balance it on two of the same size cups or something similar where you can get the two ball joints to rest on. if one side drops, add clear tape to the other side to balance.

RE: Esky Lama V3
you really wont need the training gear for the heli, its as easy as heli flying can get, i'm not sure how it will perform with the training gear because of the extra weight, but i know the feeling of flying a heli for the first time and how it may lead you to think that your will probably crash, but Don't worry, these are very, very easy to fly. to start off, turn on your transmitter and then the helicopter, set your trims on the radio to the center (except throttle). then you will want to make sure the swash plate is level, if not, adjust the necessary linkages from the servo to the swash plate. after the swash is lvl, you should be ready to fly. some adjustments of the blade tracking, gain and proportion may be needed as well, the manual will cover that. for a regular check up, just make sure screws are tight and parts are not cracked or broke. Have Fun!!

RE: Esky Lama V3
are they the stock blades or the extreme blades? if they are stock blades then yes, the stock blades will tear very easily when you crash. don't buy the extreme blades because they are meant for higher power motors.

RE: Esky Lama V3
there is not much to watch out for (neyou86), flying R/C helicopters is a fun, exhilarating hobby that keeps you on your toes, when you get into bigger helis. just watch out for the cost this hobby can bring to most people. Unlike me, start out the right way when flying R/C helicopters. first heli should be a Co-axial like the lama v3, second should be a fixed pitch single rotor heli, or a good simulator (not FMS), and then a mid-cost 3d helicopter around $200 dollars. you will have fun with the lama v3, very easy to fly, this heli will pretty much fly its self, as you may have seen on videos. Enjoy, Tom.

RE: Esky Lama V3
Well since you are buying online, make sure it is RTF or you will have to add other equipment like a radio or 4-1, read the description and make sure it is in great condition, look at the photos and see if any parts are bent, old or dirty looking as well. if the pictures are not close ups of the Heli, you can try asking for more photos to be taken. If you find an ad that you are interested in, tell me i could look at it and tell you if it looks like a good deal. Oh if you want to fly right away make sure it also comes with a battery and charger.

RE: Esky Lama V3
Well (neyou86) a brand new Lama v3 will sell for $65 on xheli.com, which i would recommend buying from, i would not buy a used one under $45, if you need help on determining if a used helicopter is in good shape, or what to look for, ask me or anyone else who would know., Hope this helped, Thanks.

RE: Esky Lama V3
Yes, this is a great helicopter. flys great and teaches the basics of helicopter movements. This helicopter (when trimmed) will fly its-self with no hands on the TX. I wish i would have started my heli hobby with this. This is the perfect Helicopter for you neyou86.

RE: Esky Lama V3
Yea, I just received my upgrades yesterday and installed them. all extreme parts are great except those blade grips. the helicopter is not stable at all, so i removed just the blade grips and put the plastic ones back on. Works great now. i like this little heli, it has similar looks to my 3D helis and flys great in my home.

RE: Years of experience in R/C hobby including operating/flying & building
Hey Everyone! I turn 18 years old in 4 days, I have been flying R/C airplanes for about 9 years, Building for 7.5 years. I have also been flying R/C helicopters for about 5 years, (This was my most expensive hobby) lol. I have always wanted to be a pilot since I were about 5 years old, and when I was about 8 or 9 years old I got my first R/C airplane and have been flying ever since. I love this hobby and will not stop until I no longer can see. Theres my history in R/C, Thanks.

RE: Esky Lama V3
Hi There, I am going to buy this V3 Lama as seen below, Then I have seen this V3 Lama Extreme, Now my question, is this a bunch of modifications to the regular yellow Lama v3 above? I have found all the mods to the V3 picture below but want to make sure they are meant for the first heli above, because i will buy all upgrades along with the stock V3. Thanks Tom

RE: steering servo problem
Take the horn off, Center your servo, and replace the horn. If end points are correct, servo is centered and the gear set is not missing teeth, Then your radio is bad. Thats the only thing I can think of!

RE: Wing tip stall
Minnflyer is Absolutely! correct, another thing to keep in mind is if you have a low wing symmetrical airfoil, your plane is designed to have batter flight at higher speeds. The biggest wing tip events I see is coming in for a landing. DO NOT come in to slow or she will tip hard and fast.
