RE: Top Flite Giant Corsair ARF Disappeared.
Word of caution to those with electric retracts. I was working on my Corsair last night and accidently plugged the tail wheel into a channel on the control box that was jumpered for the "Type 1" actuator. Didn't realize it until I had cycled the gear maybe 4 or 5 times and the tail wheel quit. Apparently that is all it takes to damage the actuator becuase it only moves about 3/4 inch in either direction now. The motor was warm to the touch and if you got real close it smelled too. I just simply got the tailwheel lead crossed with one of the mains and wasn't careful enough to double check. STUPID STUPID STUPID! [:@] Apparently the mains will work on the Type 2 setting cause I didn't notice anything abnormal in it's operation. I will be contacting Robart today. It doesn't look like there is any trick to replacing the actuator so I will just have to suck it up and buy one since Robart surely isn't going to cover that under warranty.

Yikes! Nice pics Todd D. Here are a few I managed to take. Remember the movie Ground Hog Day? I wish last weekend would start all over again! Thanks to the Fond du Lac Aeromodelers!

DX8-Issue with importing all models from SD card
I was attempting to "import all models" from one DX8 to another using the SD card. The process would stop after a couple of seconds and only the first model would be imported to the TX. I looked at the card on my laptop and found that several model postions had two differnent models assigned to them. In other words, there were two file names that started with 01, two with 02 etc. If I export models individually to the card is it possible to have multiple models assigned to the same slot on the SD card? I was under the impression they are over-written. Is that what was confusing the process and causing the abort? Thanks in advance.

DX8 Gimbal failure
During a flight last night, I felt and heard a little "click" and all the sudden had all kinds of issues with elevator. The stick now goes to full up when released. We took the back off the TX and it looks like a plastic piece that holds some kind of stop pin is broken so the stick no longer centers and goes to full up. The radio is only a bit over a year old. Anyone had this issue? Obviously it will need to go in so I am also wondering about turn-around time for repairs. Naturally it is the meat of the flying season. In the next couple of weeks things are going to really get going and I have plans to attend events several weeks in a row-and no radio. (Which is making me re-think the lack of a spare TX!) Thanks.
ORIGINAL: Jeremy_D Do any of the lucky guys who have this already also have the TF P47? I was wondering if it is similar in size ie Cowl and fuse diameter? Cheers Jeremy
Not sure about the exact cowl and fuse diameters but I bet they are close. I fly with a guy who has the Tarheel Hal P-47 ARF and I do know the Corsair fuse is considerably which along with the three piece wing was important for me because the P-47 won't fit in my vehicle.

RE: Top Flite Giant Corsair ARF Disappeared.
A trick taught to me by a fellow club member that works really good: Use dental floss or a similar "waxed thread" type stuff to cinch the connectors into the reciever. A little thin CA to stiffen up the first half inch or so makes it easy to thread "thread the needle" between the wires at the connector, run it around the RX a couple of times, knot it and then CA the knot. They pretty much can't pull out if you do it right.

Not yet. Was pleased to find the inner doors are included. It looks like there are pockets for hinges on the doors and the wing but it will take some engineering to figure out the linkages.

RE: Top Flite Giant Corsair ARF Disappeared.
HI all. Glad to see there is a thread going on this model! Got mine about a week ago. Unpacked and not a blemish I have noticed yet. Cowl looks good too. Very Nice! We have two of them in the works in our club that I know of so far. Both will have DLE-55s. The info we got is that the Robart electric retracts should be available mid-June. Robart had them set up and was able to demo them to us at Toledo. The good news is that it appears the price difference between the e-retracts and the pnuematic is going to be resonable too. Look forward to the info yet to come here. Happy building!
ORIGINAL: pettit looks like the problem may have returned. I've been trying for 2 days to get photos to upload to an ad with no luck.  Even when I ''clone'' an expired ad with photos there, when the ad is renewed, the pictures are gone. Also I can't even upload photos to a forum entry. I can upload photos to other R/C websites though
I concur. Have also been trying for two days (with two different computers and two different internet connections) to post pictures to a new ad. Times out and gives me an "internal server error".

The Evo is so pricey though! I am flying the H9 P-47 1.50 Razorback on a G26 and it is fine. Wonder how this model will compare in weight? I was thinking DLE30 or G38 but now you have me wondering about the balance. I hate adding lead!
ORIGINAL: lumpy649 I have a Hawk sitting around for a year, mostly waiting for me to decide what to use for a power plant. I'm leaning towards a Syssa 30cc and was wondering if anyone has tried this setup and how they like the performance and how well did the cg work out. Thanks, lumpy
30cc might be more than you need. I recently converted mine from a Saito 1.50 glow to a DLE 20 gasser on a 16x8 prop and it is a dream. Seems to have more authority than the glow did and the speed is very scale. CG was dead on and required no change with the 20.

RE: P-6E Curtis hawk (build thread)
Anyone flying this model on a DLE-20? I currently have mine on a Saito 1.50 and it flies great but at $29 a gallon for glow fuel I wish I had orginally set it up for gas. Looking at the DLE-20 because it would pretty much drop in with the beam mount and all. I am just concerned whether it will be enough engine. Of all things the pressure nipple fell off the Saito muffler this weekend. Engine leaned out and I had a pretty rough off runway landing. It will fly again and thinking this might be my opportunity to switch to a gasser. Thanks in advance.

Although I haven't flown it yet, I ran the engine on the bench with an 18x6 and IMHO it was way too much prop. The gurus in my club agreed. I am going down to a 16x8 two blade to start out and then try some three blade combos.
