Would be better if we could hear the motor instead of that awful music.

Errol, that really looks great. I found that I could do away with the small sub formers so as to get a better look at the dash, yours would look even better if they did not obscurer the view of your dash. Regards tmac.

RE: WACO YMF
Errol, I suggest you do a test with the perimeter tapes on a curved area to get proficient at it, (I wish I had) I found that if I concentrated on securing the tape all the way round the tip in the centre only, then with the iron at a pretty high temp you work on the outer edges sort of shrinking and sticking down as you go. When I first started I got horrible results but I did get better at it in the end. Regarding the wing to wing fillet, yes I know your dilemma hear also. I just kept sanding back the trailing edge of the wing until I could get the wing to slide all the way home. As far as the tapes are concerned maybe some one else with more experience might jump in and enlighten the both of us. Do get back on how you get on. Regards tmac.

chris. I have really started to get the gremlins on this site now, most of the time I get shut down because of a possible virus threat stopping me from logging in. Regarding the dash I really did not expect it to fit my Model because I realised that it was not specific to the Barth kit. All is well looks good enough to me.

HI ALL, received my instrument assembly from IFLYTAILIES. com and happy to report that I was very impressed with the quality. Unfortunately I could not use the dash as supplied because it did not fit the Barth 1/3 scale Waco so I made my own backing and happy with the result.

Started to install radio gear bats, receiver, power-box etc., and thought I had better check the c of g with the plane in its present state. The wings still need the final top coat of yellow but as the model sits at the moment the balance is bang on with Peters recommendations, so I will wait until I have all the painting done for I will be able to balance out the model with the placement of all the ancillary gear without having to add any dead weight. tmac

Yes, welcome Steve, a real friendly mob on this site, enjoy. Dash, Peter supplies all the hardware to do the flying and landing wires but me being me used my own wire and made the stainless threaded swagged ends. The turn-buckles are in the kit and the other fork ends I purchased from Hans (Aero Scale Products of Switzerland) along with the scale wires for the rear surfaces. Regards tmac

Thank you all for your kind comments, I can say that I have witnessed a lot better builds here on this thread, and I personally know of other guys here in AUS that have, and are building large WACOS that would leave mine for dead. I will see if I can get permission to post some of there planes. I have been hoping that Peter Barth would produce a 40% er but if not then I will purchase another 1/3 scale WACO and fix all the little things that I did wrong on this one. Regards tmac.
ORIGINAL: ceije
ORIGINAL: jmdunstan Correction: After further searching of the Century Jet website I finally found this link http://centuryjet.com/product_info.php/cPath/41_50/products_id/510. It describes the struts as for the Genesis 33% WACO, but says that the upper mechanism is 1/5 scale. I have sent an e-mail to Century Jet requesting clarification. Does anyone have experience with these struts? They would be the most expensive part of my airplane, and I don't want to waste my money if they are not a significant improvement over wire pr aluminum struts with a center shock-absorbing link. Thanks, Jim
jmdunstan, i'm building a Barth 1/4 scale and had sent the prebent wire gear to bruce at century jet and they reproduced it for me. if you go far enough back in the forum within the last 150 pages i posted pictures. his assembly is super can't tell how well it works i'm not even close to finished yet. bruce will set the strut preasure to whatever weight you give him. ho yes, the gear is to scale and if you decide to go with it bruce needs demensions for the size required for your bird (a little leg work on your part) expect about a mont or a little longer delivery time. have fun and enjoy... chris melhus, ceije 196
PAGE 571 They really look great, would be interested in the price for a set to suit the 1/3 scale Barth kit.

Blackwidow, Your balance or c of g is pretty good, definitely not tail heavy, your problem is with the incidents . Barth recommends +2 degrees on stab, -2 degrees on the upper wing & 0 degrees on the lower wing. c of g directly in front of or directly behind of aft centre wing cabane. Good luck, hope this helps. Errol, regarding your email, I was able to do the fuselage in one piece as the Waco has a FG turtle deck that allowed me to start and finish on the top as the turtle deck covers that area. What made it easer for me was that I only had to cover aft of the rear cockpit for the rest of fuselage is covered with alloy. Regards tmac. ( PS I would be interested as to how other builders go about covering the fus?)

Anthony
A bloody shame about your WACO Nut, I have been away fishing for 10 days and when I got back I was confronted with two holes in the top of one of the bottom wings punched through with the handlebars of the granddaughters push bike. I was not all that impressed but I guess you would swap damage with me. I really hope you get yours fixed and in the air again for she sure is a fine looking ship. Dash7ATP, the blue vinyl was a piece of old left over from another project ( a modeller mates ) WacoNut, It wont be too difficult, I will get a cutter to do the hard bit, that way all the bumps will be the same, and I can play with the actual shape to get it looking better. Regards tmac.
