Help me find a home for a 1.60FX
So, my brother and I are flying a Lanier Edge 540 ARF w/ 1.60FX, that he traded for, today and run out of fuel early and was jsut in the right spot where, well you're screwed and it went in........about 1.5hrs ago actually. Got maybe a dozen flights on it?? Well now he's got a 1.60FX and electronics in need of a home. We've been out of the "loop" for a couple years or so with college. We like planes like the Edge, Extra, Yak etc but at this point we really just want to get into the air and have fun again. Mind throwing some websites/feedback our way? Thanks a lot! -btw, I'm not a big fan of the 1.60FX glow fuel hogging machine that has sloppy throttle response but its what he's got.

Somenzini E-Yak-54
I did a couple searches but didn't come up with a lot which suprised me. I figured it to be a hot item but then again I'm not used to this site........ So yeah, another tell what you think post. How does it compare to the Extreme and GP and Horizon and everybody else out there making Yak's. I like it because its not foam, hold up better. I could care less that it is a Yak or Extra or flying lawnmower, but saw its by Somenzini and figured its got to be good. Plus $140 for the ARF, brushless and speed controller sounds like a good deal. Thoughts? Thanks!

foam construction differences?
I see some foam planes are just that, foam and some have reinforced parts with carbon fiber etc. I was about to buy a 3D Buddy Edge 540 but then started looking more into the reinforced foam planes plus cheaper priced.............thoughts on them compared to stick built? I just don't want a wimpy flexable planes thats shot after 30-50 flights with minimal physical "abuse". The Great Planes models look pretty good..............I do outdoor flying, thanks![;)]

RE: Needed or not?
i'm more or less try'n to get a feel for how many actually do or don't bother with ama and with their small electrics, how does ama cover such things since its not an "ama sanctioned site" or whatever? thanks for the reply

Needed or not?
Former AMA member......when I was old enough to not be a junior member I dropped AMA because I wasn't go'n to pay $58 or whatever it may be now a year. It's been 3 years since I've really flown due to going to college, graduating, moving and starting life in the "real world". I am now getting the time to get back into it but live in N.VA and limited by what I can fly at the moment for multiple reasons and planning to purchase a 3D park flyer and wherever I find room (lawns, parking lot etc) and fly it! SO, do I need AMA or not with my parkflyer? -i do have enough common since not to fly over top of a soccer game etc......[;)] -i'm sure this is a repost of some sort but not sure what exactly to search under to get a direct answer, thanks for the help!

RE: foam or balsa?
i don't fly indoors so "foam is better for indoors" has nothing to do with me, guess i should have specified outdoors.......i'm still researching but looks like balsa, now i just need to find one i can do for $300 for everything, all i've got towards this project is the transmitter :o(

foam or balsa?
I guess one of the last things holding me back from jumping into electrics is "foam or balsa"? I've been looking back and forth in my spare time over the past few weeks at planes and find many that are advertised great and some that actually fly great. Now, I'm use to balsa and stick built plenty of planes like a lot of us. I see the more or less just balsa stick constructed profile planes like we fly with glow engines only now with electric motors and the foam planes with electrics. I guess I'm just hav'n a hard time see'n a foam plane as something dependable, I'm not even sure what it is but its def holding me up on what plane I want to select and purchase as my first electric see'n as how convienent they are to get into the air when you just don't always have the time. Anybody else? Thoughts?

$300 budget tight?
I have no experience with electrics so have nothing but my Futaba 8UAP transmitter that I guess I can contribute towards one...............so, with $300 is that reasonable to get a plane, servos, battery, charger, speed control etc etc etc? I'm not sure what all I need to get yet. I've been looking at the Yak that is out of stock so I've been looking at the 3D Buddy Edge 540 but still not sure what plane to get and to come in at a budget of $300, help? Thanks!

RE: What competes with the YAK 55SP-E?
i saw on here where one company has the 3 shock fliers for $110shipped, thats tempting but i'm afraid of them being too fragile compared to the Yak.......... what setups are ya'll us'n in the Yak and how much did it cost you to get it go'n minus radio? i'm debating to jsut get thei "combo" or do my own, i need everything, first electric

What competes with the YAK 55SP-E?
Planning to get myself a good fly'n park flyer that isn't overly expensive and is manueverable. The YAK 55SP-E seems to be pretty hard to beat. I don't want to spend more that what the YAK costs either, it seems $300 to get it go'n right? Thoughts/comments/suggest will be GREATLY appreciated!!!! It's gett'n warm and I'm tired of not flying.

RE: Hl yak 55
so besides the $20 for the plane what will it cost in other materials / electronics to get one of these flying? i'd be using a Futaba 8UAB to fly it, i'm not really sure what setup to go with either, new to electrics would like someting cheap to practice with before getting something a little more fun perhaps

RE: Help an electric newb?
thanks for the help i'm still reading up on different planes............i don't know why i look so much at how durable, as if i'm saying hey i'm going to crash it a bunch..........i guess just not a few hard landings and fall apart or after a few flights the foam is drooping or something

Help an electric newb?
I was planning on the Ultimate from Horizon till I read on here. I've been out of steady flying for about 3 years (happens after you graduate get job etc)..........I'm tired of not be'n able to fly so I am looking into electrics. The F3A not only "looks" good but appears well built. I'm not looking to fly indoors but would like to do harriers, attempt torque rolls, nice snaps etc with whatever I get and just have a fun tiem flying it. The Great Planes "flatouts" or whatever fliers look good on the site, but of course everything does on the company site..............I didn't see where it posted a price but there is also the new CAP and the "Reflection" bipe etc.............. I've seen where people post saying build your own from plans and a stack of foam...........but how do they fly? I just want something #1 Won't be destroyed from a hard landing, so rigid (don't know if that word really fits with these planes) #2 Its fun #3 3D, even though I'm not an accomplished 3D pilot but refer back to #2 #4 How can I find out about what setups to go with (motor, speed control, servos etc?) Should I just go with a "package" that may be offered or what Thanks for the help![8D]
