RE: Central NEW YORK boaters
Hey Guys, I have a PS295 hull I purchased in the spring that I am planning to build this winter. Below is the original thread from the designer/builder Mike that I bought it from. One of my friends in Buffalo has one and is still getting it dialed in. We are running them with OS lower units and UL-1 motor/esc on 4s. I'm sure it would take the Proboat outboard. I would be happy to bring it out if you want to take a look at it. Really nice hulls but not cheap. This is the build thread. http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?18611-ML-Boatworks-PS295-prototype-tunnel Tom
ORIGINAL: HeliDrop Craig, good work on the pond. That looked like a ton of work. I've got my decals made for my Drag N' Fly and the paint might be finished up by next week. I'll post some pictures. A friend and I have been looking around at electric tunnels and we found the F-1 Hornet from Hobby King. They are selling them for $129 but with import costs and what not we don't know what kind of hassle that would cause. We found them in California for $199. As I always say we're not out to win races but have fun, plus then we can let anyone take them for a spin. These are cheap enough that we might actually get two. Do you guys have any better ideas? We currently have four Venom 2S2P 7.4V 5400mah 20C Lipo's and want to run whatever we get on those. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/%5F%5F14552%5F%5FHornet%5FFormula%5F1%5FTunnel%5FHull%5Fwith%5F540%5FOutboard%5FMotor%5FR%5FC%5FRacing%5FBoat%5F750mm%5F.html
Hi Eric, I would agree with Craig, I have not heard good things about the Hornet. I converted my MRP Bud Light to FE a few years ago just to see what it would do. I am reworking everything this winter so I can get the center of gravity adjusted and clean things up. I am using a Proboat 1500kv motor with the K&B lower unit and Hyper Performance adaptor http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=hpi-eobck35-5mm This is the conversion thread: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?10478-MRP-Bud-Light-FE-Conversion&highlight= running video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jwgg-nPQvuY Tom
ORIGINAL: advanced builder tomstoys2 , What kind of connectors on that battery?
Not sure. Web site says an EH connector. One of the reviews from the US warehouse says it comes with a Futaba, JR connector. This is were I ordered it from. If you order from China warehouse, they suggest purchasing a JR to EH adaptor. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct
ORIGINAL: Billk44 I switched to LiFe's last year for Rx and never looked back. Virtually no charge loss which means no last minute charging. At 6.6v no voltage regulator is needed. I use all digital servos and find these extremely reliable.
Hey Guys, I just ordered 2 of these to try out. Including shipping they came to around $7 each. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store/__20646__Zippy_Flightmax_1100mAh_6_6v_LiFePo4_2S1P_Receiver_Pack_USA_Warehouse_.html Tom

RE: WTB CEN Wave Shark Upgrade
ORIGINAL: Darkseacret Well I got a chance to run her today and I was really happy with performance. It jumps out of water on a slight hole shot and runs pretty fast . I beleave it would beat my nitro .18 version . I used a carbon f. prop I had from off shore elect. I had on my nitro version . After about 10 -12 min I brought it in and the cooling system worked great packs and esc were just warm nothing major . And I used about 45% out of my 5200 packs.it wants to hop around now at 3/4 throttle so Im gonna fab up some trim tabs and see how that helps . I want to avoid adding weight to front if I can help it . So far Im very happy with set up . I did mount the rec. under servo tray in ballon and added a y splice to run a battery through steering servo leg.
Great to here. Ya, it's pretty amazing how much faster it is. I'm glad to hear things worked out well. Tom

Hey Guys, One of these days I'm going to make it out to Stoney Pond. I went to Buffalo this weekend for the Bills game and ran FE with some of the guys from the area on Sat. Weekends like that don't come around to often. I thought I would share a few videos. This is my buddy's Phil Thomas Hydro running 6s. He's go a new custom turn fin that seems to be working very well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzaRdtTJRmc This one is my friend John's carbon fiber 36" cat with twin counter rotating outrunners. He's still got some tweeking to go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ud8SvpbFBHE Hope to see you all soon. Tom

Hi Roger, I look forward to meeting everyone. It's going to be a few weeks till I have a free weekend. I'll try and stop into Dan's one of these Tues. I keep drooling over that yellow gas Cat that's for sale! I'm still learning the FE equation with what works and what will go poof! I met Walt Blaze over the summer and in Buffalo at the club pond near UB. He said he took is Motly Crew boat to Elmira and ran in the nitro class. That is a pretty sweet boat. Where and what do you race with cars? I have a bunch of on and off road electrics I would love to try on a track. Tom

I'm not sure how you guys feel about FE but I would like to come out and see you guys run some weekend. I had heard about your pond in Canadagua from the guys at Dan's but hadn't been able to get in on Tues. night to talk boats. Most of the boats I have run in the upper 30's with a few in the 40's. I run most of my boats in the 1000 Islands and usually just sport running with my kids. The only Nitro I have left is a Lap CatII with a K&B 7.5 outboard. I plan on converting that to FE soon. I converted my MRP Bud-Light last year. Quick video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jwgg-nPQvuY The only Gasser I have left is a 56" AeroM with a 32cc Kawasaki built by some guy named Green in the MA/RI area about 17 years ago. My AeroM Fountain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=is0NcO9hlqw Great reading on this thread. Tom

I have the 60 A 4000kv in mine as well. It rips on 2s, have to have the wheelie bar on as it will lift the front end with no problems. http://www.hobbypartz.com/ezrun-60a-brushless-esc-for-1-10-car.html Tom

RE: WTB CEN Wave Shark Upgrade
Hi Dave, I just added a brushless set up to my Wave Shark and would be willing to sell you the brushed set up I took out. I was running 2, NiMh packs 14.4 Volts with a Jeti ESC and a brushed motor. I purchased it from Offshoreelectrics as an upgrade to my Wave Shark. I was running a Prather 215 prop and it made it fly! I never GPS'd it but I know I was close to 40mph. Almost to fast when I was jumping waves. I'll take some pictures tonight if you are interested. How much are you looking to spend? Nice job on the paint for your. Really looks cool. You WILL have to find a better way to secure the hatch. Mine kept blowing off the back end when jumping waves. You can easily get 4-5 feet of air with this set up. I ended up putting a screw in the back to secure it. Tom

Can I program a Proboat Brushless ESC with a Common Sense RC card?
I went to my local hobby shop to see if they had a Programming Card for my ProBoat FastTech. Of course they were backordered but they said I could use a Common Sense RC ESC Programming Card for the Z-Series ESC. It looks similar but has a few different settings. Has anyone done this? I don't want to smoke my ESC but I do want to run my Lipos. http://www.commonsenserc.com/product_info.php?products_id=324 http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Support.aspx?ProdID=PRB3311
