next plane
i was wondering which build was easier for somone that has never built a plane before (have done an arf). balsa usa 1/6 or 1/4 sopwith pup, great planes P-51D, or top flites's elder 40? i realy like the pup and i like the large size of the 1/4 scale, also have read that it is easy to fly. the p51 is ok but i kinda need somthin that cant take ruff terrain. the elder looks ok but im not to sold on it.

Gas Engines!?
so i was looking around latley for a gas engine cause i HATE the mess of oil all over my plane when im done flying. wat i was wondering is what brands are out there for gas engines that are for .60 size planes and lower? and from wat i have seen there are not many out there for smaller planes. Y do you guys prefer nitro over gas? wat is the differance in maitnance? P.S. Thank you for your time and answers.

RE: larger prop
thnx alot guys! i asked cause my engine is broken in and i have been doing a vertical takeoff(i know thats dumb so dont say much plz, and plus i wait untill im high enough to come out of a stall) and my engine is still purring but the plane will stall and i was wanting to be able to hover or atleast climb somewhat vertically. i have a super trainer 60 by nitro planes with a magnem .61 fsx (i think thats the right letters).

larger prop
will a 12*6 give me more speed than a 11*7? my engine has the torque but i think my prop is too small to give me the wanted speed and pull.

2nd plane!
iv been on a trainer for a few months and am looking for a second plane that is a tail drager. i would like a kit but a good arf is not out of the question. im mainly self taught and have not buillding experiance in the rc world except putting the super trainer 60 together. i was wondering what you guys would suggest for a second plane. i felt that the trainer was a little to easy to fly and it did not offer enough. i was looking at great planes rv-4 and liked how it looked and the review off of rcu seemed that it was a fairly easy build and not a hard plane to fly. i hope you guys can give me a little guidance and all suggestions are welcome. thanks in advance.

RE: lights!
i went with the v3 system from lazertoyz. it had all the things i was looking for and it did not break the little piggy on my dresser[:D]. RCKen i am a little worried about orientation but i will be flying mainly dusk and maybe at night after a few more flights and i have enough lights on to see VERY well at night. thank you all for the help and suggestions.[:D]

lights!
i was wondering about lighting systems for my plane cause dusk to night time is the least amount of wind to fly. iv seen some things on outdated web sites and i was wondering if you guys and gals could point me in the right direction of a cheap but good lighting system. wat would be optimal is navigation lights (left and right with the strob on the tail) and landing lights that come on when you land (of course [:)] ) plz and thank you [:D]

Ok ladies and gents. i want to know what your dream set up is. And if you already have it let me know wat it is. Plane, Engine, radio, the whole works. here is mine for example Plane: Top Flite F4U Corsair Engine: Satio 90 or 170 3-Cylinder Radial (not sure if the 170 would fit) Radio: Specktrum DX7i with all the hookups that come with it. (i have allready :D)

RE: Beginner??? Probably!
kennel im glad that u r showing these ppl that this can be done by yourself. now it prolly is good to have an instructor if you have time and $$$ to get into a club. i also tought myself.and have not had to spend more than 10 dollars on repairs (all props cause i hit the ground and a golf cart once all on take off) i have a VERY rough runway so i got bigger tires and im constantly fighting the front wheel from the wire bending. (crapy enginiering by the makers part). my runway is a front yard in the country that is about 50 yards long and 20 yards wide. to land i come from the north and have to go under the powerlines around a pole that is right in the middle of approach and set it down where there is grass and not clumps of weeds which is about 5 yards wide the whole length. last night i finely over shot had to go around and the cross wind pushed me too far east and i nudged a tree but i was going so slow that it did not hurt the approach and it landed in the tall bluestem.

tire bending. how do i fix?
i have a super trainer 60 and its great. one thing tho is when i come into land the front landing gear bends backwards. how do i fix that? do i get bigger guage wire? i do flare the plane at the end and it still bends. i have gotten MUCH bigger tires also because im landing on a ruff lawn with fairly high grass. wat would you suggest? also by putting larger tires on the front wheel alone should i put a little lead tape in the back of the plane to balance it out? i have notice segnificant drag and weight pulling the front down to the ground.

RE: Glow Starter Charge Life
im pretty new to nitro also so take my advice with caution. first, i dont know anything about rechargable starters but i would say that you should fully charge it then try again. also, did you follow the proper steps in breaking an engine in? did you prime the engine? by hitting the prop hard you could hurt the prop so it is dented(depends on how hard you hit it). i used a broom stick for awhile and twice i acutualy did not flip the prob all the way throught the cumbustion cycle and the engine kicked and started backwards :D also would recomend an electric starter. SOOOOOOOO Much easier. if you were REALY trying to flip the prop through and it did not budge you could have hydro locked the engion.

2nd flight, and a question.
Had my second flight today with a 5-10 mph cross wind and they plane flew great. didn't have any trouble landing exepct missing the runway by 10 fleet in front . one thing i did experiance tho is my plane wants to tilt to the right, it may need some adustments. but i do wonder, How much oil should the engion spurt out? when i was done the entire right side of the plane was covered. also when i noticed i was to miss the runway i gave it full juice and the engion died, could my engien be too rich? (its a magnum XLS-61A) i do have it set alitle rich cause this is like the 6th time iv started it.

I DID IT!!!!!!!!!
I finaly took up my super trainer 60 for its maiden/first flight. It is also my very first flight for a nitro. i have been on the sim for about a week and was getting tired of seeing the 5 mph wind week go away so today on the calmest day i thought i would be sick if i let a day like this go by and not even fly my super cub. well my family was geting sick of me just wondering around the house thinking about it the whole time and they told me JUST DO IT. so i went out side and there was no wind so i thought 'ill just drive it around the yard for the 4th time and let the engion break in a bit. about the 4th pass i was gunning it to full throtle and the engion was just purring. i could not take it any more and i just decided TO DO IT. i broght the plane back in and fueled it completly full(did not want to dead stick). and before i knew it i was at the egde of my yard giving it the go, and it died, it died three times. finaly i let the engion warm up a bit and eased the throtle to full. O the sound it made at first lift off was B-E-A-utiful. i made about 4 turns then landed on a VERY short runway and at the very very very end it nosed over just a bit but came back and landed on all three. the dumbest thing iv proly done since the only person around with any flying experiance at all was me! (just thought id brag abit) :D I LOVE THIS HOBBY! :D :D :D :D
