Any Questions?
Hello All, As a novelist who writes on Military matters, I have the chance to take history and bend it some. However readers who know the subject matter really get ticked off when the details are not right. It is one of the reasons I started writing submarine fiction. So now that TIGER is just about done. I wondered if I had done everything I could to make it as a authentic lie as possible. The answer was no. So fortunatly an author pal of mine set me up with an interview with a WWII tanker. I will be submitting question to Mr. Joe Eykins, who has agreed to help me out. So I thought my Brothers and Sisteres here might have a few they would like to ask. So if you do please let me know and I'll include them in the list. For those new to this, or need a little history dust off. Mr. Eykins is the man whose Sherman Firefly destroyed 3 TIGERS in Normandy one of which was commanded by Tiger Ace Michael Wittmann. So let me know and we will see what we can get done. Don

RE: Coming Soon
I think the same thing that happens to socks in the dryer happens to the screws. Now to be sure its not just me. How many of you have taken a tank apart, put the screw in a small cup/jar (Empty Skoal can), but when you go to put it back together one or more are always missing! Please someone tell me this happens to them also. Just think somewhere in an alternate universe 5 billion socks and thousands of Heng Long Tiger 1 screws float around. Don

Hey Friends, For those who like taking HENG LONG Parts and making cool tanks, then soon the issue of finding screws screws will be solved. I talked MATO into offering screw sets for the tanks. Should make life easier. I know it will for me. Don

RE: HELP: Machine Gun and Light not coming on-M26 Pershing
Hummmm now it could be a low battery. Or maybeyou might just try pulling the crystal from the reciever and reseating it. That might just do the trick. Another thing to do is to start it up and play withthewires to see if it is a loose connection in the 8 pin. Also check the pins. They could be pulled out just enough that it does not make contact. If that fails you might have a bad board. Keep pluggin.. You'll fixi t Don

RE: HELP: Machine Gun and Light not coming on-M26 Pershing
Hey Brother, Could be a very simple loose wire. Both MG and Lights share a common. Just open her up and check the wires for the lights. I have a loose one i needto take care of on TIGER 1334. Don

RE: A23 Combat Video
Well I use whatever I can get my grubby little hands on. The live action was from TANK BRIGADE. SOund effects were taken from about 20 sites on the net. I use free AUDACITY SOUND software to mix and adjust tracks, and dub in the sound effects. The secret to making a good movie is making about 100 terrible movies. I learn a bit each time and good or bad I sure have a hoot! Don

Idiot's Corner
Hello All, Just another installment from the guy who CA'd his hand to another part of his body. soldered near his open paint thinner, added smoker oil while looking in the tube. Today's tough lesson: Airsoft and Gun Oil. So I'm cleaning my rifle which is a gun, and I'm looking at my TIGER A23 which has an Airsoft gun. Common Word-gun. So the little man in my mind thinks. Hey if oil is good for the rifle it must be good for my tank's gun. So within a second my Tiger gets a nice squirt down the muzzle of Hoppes 1903-2003 lubricating oil. Now those little BBs should Fly! Well they did indeed do better! For the first five shots that is. Then it was harder for them to come out. On shot 9 the bb came out and splattered against the wall. On shot 12 all BB shots were hang fires. So I had to take the gun apart and found that yep-you guessed it. The gun oil melted the BBs I had a molten mass of angry orangish yellow and white looking back at me. So I got al that cleaned out. and dryed out. Then doing what you guys told me to do inthe first place I got some silicone spray. Now once again all is good. But I still think the Tank CO looks at me funny. Don

RE: HL TIGER 1 TO TIGER LATE MODEL???
Opps! Almost forgot the big part. Protective turret ring. ETO has these. Just be careful as the HL TIGER turret does not really turn true and may foul the rotation. Do some testing prior to anything permenate. Don

RE: HL TIGER 1 TO TIGER LATE MODEL???
Tankinstein, First hing you need to do is to beef up the hull. Sink the money into a metal hull or add the inside plates and metal swing arms. The plastic arms and hull cannot handle the stresses of the metal tracks and roadwheels. Of course you will have to be sure you have metal gears. Then metal sprockets and Idlers. Once you get her all beefed up, you can continue withthe cosmetics. One thing that may help or hinder you is the fact that very few "Late" tigers were built. Toward the end you could find late wheels with old turrets. So decide on a tank you want to model. Once you do that research the tank and the year it was built. You will find many changes even overthe span of months. Some subtle and some great. Now that you have your tank and year and month. You will then go nuts getting all the little do-dads that make it a Spat Version. Bucket Jack Fire Bottle Late Engine Cover Later Starter plate Delete engine wading cover Move Prybar Move tools Add C-Hooks Add Turret Vent Add Loader's Persicope Add turret top Armor Zimmerit Jack Handle relocated Remove Air Cleaners Delete mounts for S-Mines Replace Cuppola New Headlight Remove mounts for smoke greneade launchers Update loaders hatch Reposition tow cables Repostions track cables Delete shovel on glasis Rear most fuel caps modification Add grill covers Add side tie downs Add tie downs to rear engine cover Re loacte engine Cover Latches Big Job but a tone of fun! RE: I made a list...can you check it twice?
If you ordered the Hull with wheels set, you are good to go. Just get the Idler, Drive Sproket, and caps. once you have that in hand maybe Steve from Welsh Dragon will have the supports in. When you get your gear boxes takesome calipers and measure the shaft. Then let Steve know and he'll get u fixed up. Don
