Jake. I fly mostly sequence style, freestyle, & about 20% 3D. I fly 12-14 min flights. I am not trying to impress anyone with mah usage, it just is wat it is. I have a EF 110" Yak & a QQ Python, the mah usage is the same for both of them. I didn't mean to offend anyone.
ORIGINAL: JoeAirPort Looken good Barry. That's close to what mine came in at (17#, 12 oz). It flies light at that weight. The wing tube is at 6 7/8" on mine. My CG was 7" and flew almost perfectly neutral....hands off level inverted. With the wing on I'm not sure what that does to the CG but I bet you not a whole lot since the wings are so close if not right on CG. Hmm let's see now, which one should I fly.....[:D]
Two great airplanes, Joe. Melt snoe, melt.

RE: 50cc Setup?
ORIGINAL: Tired Old Man The chargter I use has a max for A 123 cells at 4 amps. Since it only requires 10 or 12 minutes per 2 cell battery pack I don't have a need for a higher rate charger. That's only a personal position. Some may feel they need to be able to recharge in 3 to 5 minutes. I'm not an expert with batteries at all, but my experience with any type that I have used to date has indicated that the faster the charge rate, the shorter the battery lifespan. Perhaps the A 123 battery types will prove that wrong over time. There has not yet been enough time (imo) to make that determination. Due to that I refrain for taking anything to the edge of it's limitations. Again, only a personal position. As for the K2 website, I'm quite sure that the information there accurately reflects the bulk of their product line, but it may not note the recent production of licensed technology products. Once again I'm going to place my trust in Tom Fawcett and the fact that he physically called the manufacturer and spoke to them, and did not quote what may be old info on a website.
I trust what the manufacturer specified. A123Racing states 1,000 charge cycles @ 10 amps. I'll go with that. I am at close to 100, so far so good. A man with an experience is never at the mercy of a man with an opinion.

RE: 50cc Setup?
f a modeler came to this thread, maybe new to giant scale or to the battery technology, he would be very confused by reading what the "experts" are saying here. I don' see any reason to confuse the issue, & I certainly don't agree with "clouding" the differeence between these two different batteries. I don't know everything there is to know about battery technology & electronics,BUT I am confident in what I do know. I think the air needs to be cleared. If we are discussing two different airplane designs, a lot of subjective reaoning come into play, not so with eletronics. It is what it is. What we have here is two different products, using the same technology- same genus, different breed. A comparison between a chihuaha & a german shepard comes to mind. So, here we go: Jake-If I ran my A123s completely down, yes it would take 15 min ea. (45 min total) to recharge them. I fly 5 flights @ an ave usage of 160 mah/batt. That's 800 mah, & it takes 5 min @ 10 amps to fully charge, for a total of 15 mn, and I am flying again. Tired Old Man- Let's don't cloud the issue on heating up the battery when charging. I bought my A123 Racing, 2300 mah batteries from Horizen Hobbies when they were first introduced last year. I would even venture to guess that I was the first in a large geographical area. I have never had, even a warm battery from charging at 10 amps. Sometimes the charger heats up a bit, but not the battery. Tom at WH-Sell whatever you want, A123 or K2, but don't cloud the issue between the twoI. My .02.
ORIGINAL: dhal22 good to hear the Tyler name once in while. i grew up just south of there but haven't been back in many many yrs. how's the rc scene there?
The RC scene in Tyler is very active.Last weekend we had over 25 pilots, 16 of which were giant scale ( over 30 GS planes ). This was just a good Saturday at the field, with great weather. The TUFF Club has over 140 members in East Texas & surrouding area. There are several serious 3D & aerobatic pilots in the club, growing, and challenging themselves to improve. It's a real treat to be a part of this hobby at this time, with this great group of guys. The entertainment value of any day at the field is worth the trip. I drive an hour, one way, just to fly with these guys. AND, we put on a great Fly-In. Come join us & have a great time. Meet some old freinds & make some new ones. That' what it's all about.
